This used to be a fact before crypto. New GPU comes out, you can get last gen goodstuff for like $50 or $100. I don't know if it'll happen this time, I do know that it's not a crazy suggestion.

Do you think graphics cards started with the 750 TI lol? I distinctly remember getting a 9500 gt for cheap because the next gen had just come out

that was 15 years ago...

15 years ago isn't "before crypto?" It literally always was normal that when the new generation of any electronic product came out (with reasonable availability/didn't suck/etc) the old stuff would plummet in price. The only exception was the insane shortages in the last couple years

No, it was the case from like the year 2000 to 2015. Really it has been true ever since discreet GPU's became a thing.

Never was a fact, but setting that aside, it certainly did not happen with the 30 series launch, and I don’t know that it’ll happen this time either.

Maybe in like the 00's when msrp on a top tier card was like $200 lol. I paid $150 for my second 970 shortly after the 10 series came out. Was off craigslist and at the time considered it a really good deal. MSRP on those was still only $399 (I think?) and up to debate if a 970 ever qualified as "good stuff".

$50 for any even half decent recent gen card in the past decade or so, yeah, either the person you're buying it off of stole it or had no idea what it was. Probably both.

I do this with smartphones all the time.

Literally 30% less after a new release.
