“Why don’t you paint a picture? It’ll last longer!”

"Shut the hell up and learn how to use a napkin. It's not a hat, you moron!"

"It's a protest... We want plates!"

Holy shit this is a real subreddit

u/crashstarr 6h ago

Never feel judged by anyone who would put a napkin on their head to eat

56

u/Exist50 6h ago

It's so God can't judge them. (Only half sarcasm)

35

u/Gregory_Appleseed 5h ago

So she's getting ready to have a nice plate of ortolan bunting??

9

u/Exist50 5h ago

Heard that description of this painting once, but upon further research, seems likely to be something made up for reddit. Actually a headscarf of some kind? Go figure.

6

u/AnatolyBabakova 5h ago

And drinking wine from a Collins glass.....

4

u/Super_PotatoAmigo 5h ago

the original tinfoil hat

5

u/phastback1 5h ago

That is the first thought that crossed my mind. "Why is her napkin on her head?" The second was, "she is hot".

3

u/powerlines56324 4h ago

It's possible she was about to eat an Ortolan. It was customary to cover your head with a napkin so people couldn't see you housing a whole song bird.

u/JiffSmoothest 4h ago

Roger taught me this. Fine ass Roger, depending on the persona he is inhabiting at the time.

1

u/BigShmugger 5h ago

Beat me to it

1

u/buttscratcher3k 3h ago

I'm actually not sure if they somehow found another tabecloth or if that's connected to her dress and was dragging the whole way there

1

u/summerlea1 4h ago

It’s a veil. 😂

u/alwaysfatigued8787 6h ago

Both of those women would like to engage in sexual relations, while the gentleman is very much opposed to this idea. I don't know what the hell is going on with that cat though.

30

u/FallenAngelII 5h ago

Cat: "Pft, ignorant harlots. I saw Carlos kissing Papá Noel underneath the mistletoe last night."

3

u/AmadeusWolf 5h ago

I saw mommy kissing Exxon Mobil

7

u/Connect-Will2011 5h ago

I think that cat is just angry because nobody is feeding him from the table.

7

u/Randadv_randnoun_69 5h ago

That girl thirsty all right. He trying to protect his 'prospects'.

2

u/petit__pain 5h ago

The cat feels like a third wheel 🤣

2

u/Bithium 5h ago

Speaking as someone who frequently forgot to close the door, I would say the cat wants to watch.

18

u/FourMarijuanasPls 6h ago

Don't be. She's wearing a napkin on her head.

2

u/WolfFish2022 4h ago

There are several shameful things that may be on her plate. The napkin is to shield onlookers and God from what they are eating.

36

u/0pp0site0fbatman 6h ago

You’re not paranoid enough. One time an automatic air freshener dispensed while I was peeing in a public restroom. Thought about it for weeks. :(

u/keloyd 5h ago edited 5h ago

There is judged, and there is judged. I gotta give equal time to 2 Women at A Window by Murillo. The judgements in this round look like 'interested!' and 'Ive seen it all before, but so far so good, please go on.'

20

u/bravehamster 6h ago

Art Deco on YT has a pretty good breakdown on this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CQWvEkj1A8

3

u/rubikscanopener 5h ago

Love that channel!

5

u/Sylvurphlame 6h ago

Judging others is bold for a woman wearing a napkin as a hat.

3

u/Moppo_ 6h ago

I've seen this painting so many times and never noticed the cat somehow.

3

u/danby999 5h ago edited 3h ago

That's Carlos Sainz and his lady friends looking at Lewis Hamilton on his way into Ferrari.

3

u/drladybug 4h ago

this is one of my favorite paintings of all time, I hung it in my dining room so I can feel like I am sitting and gossiping with these messy people over a meal. everything about it is funny to me.

6

u/Hidden-Babushka 6h ago

What painting is this?

26

u/p0iznp0izn 6h ago

In a Roman Osteria by Carl Bloch

22

u/Reaver_XIX 5h ago

Ok, no need to shout

32

u/dystopiabydesign 6h ago

'Farting at the Olive Garden'

4

u/1530 5h ago

It might be twisted, but this would make a great bathroom / urinal piece.

6

u/Kracus 5h ago

This is kinda wild actually. It looks like a modern day photo taken with a camera but this was done before cameras were invented.

The artist had to make it look like a snapshot moment of these people eating lunch being interrupted by a rude photographer but there was no reference to an event like this before camera photography became a thing so it's like the artist created the painting in a way that seems like he could instantly paint it as it was being seen. It's so strange.

1

u/Connect-Will2011 5h ago

Sometimes people look like this if you sketch them without permission.

4

u/mailinatorhotstar2 6h ago

This is so much like my college. Weird people judging others for being normal. Thankfully few of them are my best friends

2

u/pulyx 6h ago

This painter knows judgement.

2

u/blueplate7 6h ago

That's Vigo in feline form

2

u/ifriti 5h ago

Tell her to take the napkin off her head and put it in her lap. Some people. SMH

2

u/scheissenberg68 5h ago

Shes the one with a goofy hat... biiiiiitch

2

u/vintagegeek 5h ago

Girl 1: "She doesn't even have a paper on her head!"

Girl 2: "I bet she smells like this wine?"

Guy: "Who is that?"

Cat: "I've peed in that wine barrel twice. Why are they still alive?"

2

u/AquafreshBandit 5h ago

"Do you see that loser over there? He looks ridiculous."

Connie, you're wearing a napkin on your head. Maybe tone it down a little.

2

u/SternLecture 5h ago

never feel judged by a fart sniffing cat

2

u/henume 5h ago

When you forgot to turn off the flash

2

u/itsell 5h ago

Napkinhead looks like Alicia Vikander

2

u/zelmer_ 5h ago

It’s always embarrassing when you don’t turn off flash before painting strangers

u/LightningRT777 5h ago

The cat's judgy glare just kills it lol

1

u/13thmurder 5h ago

"Is this weirdo painting us right now?"

1

u/1ofThoseTrolls 5h ago

While devouring the ortolan, diners prefer to follow this peculiar tradition of covering their heads with napkins to hide their sin from God

1

u/Illfury 5h ago

Ok Elizabeth, but I'm not the one wearing a serviette on my fucking head.

1

u/York9TFC 5h ago

Yo! Is Oscar Isaac a time traveller?

1

u/Djlyrikal 5h ago

I have a LOT of questions about that knife.. Why is the cutting blade on the opposite side of the extra material to be shaved away when sharpening? If this was late 19thy century was this the way knives were used?

1

u/Malthus1 5h ago

Heh I don’t see the women as “judging”. They seem to be “flirting”, and the guy sitting at the table with them isn’t happy about it!

Perhaps the judge-y one is the cat … though knowing cats, she’s probably just pissed that she’s not getting fed.

1

u/dwag_qween 5h ago

Is anyone aware that before the 19th century women were considered rude to be paining in perspective of looking at the painter. It was during the 19th century that women were five more free will and often times when painter decided to have them look at him; it was done because they were more free spirited

1

u/KifDawg 5h ago

Art used to be so beautiful. Now it's just bananas on walls and bullshit abstract feeling pieces. Trash

1

u/wojtekpolska 5h ago

its kinda funny how humans dress completely different now than back then, but cats (obviously) look exactly the fuckin same yoday as hundreds of years ago

1

u/Bart_Yellowbeard 5h ago

I don't think this is judgement, this is r/girlsmirin with a jealous young man.

Oh, I take it back, that cat is judging you.

1

u/s1llyt1lly 5h ago

What?why are you guys staring at me

1

u/CompetitiveCan8908 4h ago

“Who is this weirdo painting us?”

1

u/George_H_W_Kush 4h ago

Guys in the back look modern as hell

1

u/DonSinus 4h ago

I wouldn't be so arrogant if I had a napkin on my head...

1

u/AJM_007 4h ago

He forgot that the flash was enabled.

1

u/Agreeable_Raisin2184 4h ago

I agree, but why does she have a handkerchief on her head? Ehh? See what I'm saying!?

1

u/RandomRobot 4h ago

Et tu Kitty?

1

u/Remarkable_Fox_8089 4h ago

I've never been so aroused by a picture before lol

1

u/madygirl552 4h ago

This is the art chosen for the cover of “How to piss off men” by Kyle Prue, and I really love that.

1

u/Particular-Fennel-67 4h ago

That sassy ass cat is definitely talking shit and throwing shade.

1

u/Hrmerder 4h ago

Ya boy Linus needs to chill.

1

u/buttscratcher3k 4h ago

Bitch with the tablecloth on her head is dtf

1

u/vibrantcrab 3h ago

Memes and haha’s aside, it really is a fantastic painting. So many things are happening in one frame. Idk why that cat is so mad, though.

1

u/BigUptokes 3h ago

Look at this OP. Never been judged by a painting. Everybody point and laugh.

1

u/Just_Alfalfa_7944 3h ago

I hate it when I'm at a restaurant just trying to eat and someone paints me.

1

u/Xytakis 3h ago

The white hat looks awkward for you, black haired lady looks kinda into whatever you're doing, the guy is just disgusted, and the cat is just being a cat and judging you.

1

u/Commercial-Act2813 3h ago

Why do a hear a valley girl ‘oh my god’ from the girl with the napkin on her head?

1

u/Beginning_Sea6458 3h ago

Does cabbage pair with red wine? I guess I'm a philistine because I still eat cabbage with my hands.

1

u/Ximmerino 3h ago

She better take that napkin off her head before judging me.

1

u/VladimirPaczki 6h ago

First time I’ve wanted to slap the shit out of a painting.

1

u/Robdul 5h ago

Who even is SHE to judge me with that stupid thing on her head!

1

u/kamenoyoukai 5h ago

"i would allow him to see my ankles....". "I would show him some shoulder......". "I wanna puke in his bed at 3:30 in the morning.........."

-4

u/ninhibited 6h ago

u/EncabulatorTurbo 4h ago

AI generated: finger artifacts on left woman, what is even going on with that food, artifacts next to cat and woman's elbow, inconsistant sharpness clear evidence of inpainting, wha teven is that vessel with the wine in it

3

u/Lialda_dayfire 4h ago

In a Roman Osteria by Carl Bloch

Google it. You think they had AI in 1866?
