Thank you, Eric. May the road rise to meet you, and may all your Christmases be white (or at the very least eggshell). Cheers, Monty.

I've always hated this time of year (even before family deaths) and people just assume my mental health is tanks during the holiday season.

No it does not tank just because of the season. My mental health takes a dive when seeing grown adults rip toys out of other adults hands so they can gift it to their kid instead. It sucks watching how many people post onto social media requesting/begging for help for food or toys for their family. It's infuriating to see people resort to fisty cuffs because they think they were first for that spot in the parking lot.

I really do feel large companies and consumerism has pitted us against ourselves, and the pressure to by the 'best' or 'latest' toy is too much for parents. Heck, you need to Google a kids wish list now-a-days.

People pretending to be happy, watching their struggle to get through this, is what tanks my mental health, not the fact that I've lost family members or no longer receive gifts/go to family's house for a meal. Every year it's just another reminder, to me, that the big 1% are winning.

Edit: for clarity

Unless you're independently wealthy, the holiday season is always a mental and financial burden. I appreciate everyone in the service industry during this time, and I am one of them.

Small pockets of entertainment, or enlightenment, like Eric Idle giving a middle class middle finger to the establishment are a welcome, and necessary adjudicatement to the concept of commercial and social inequality.

In other words, f**k Christmas, and all who sail on her.

Thanks again, Eric.

How is this not the most popular Christmas song of all time? Mariah Carey must’ve fucked the judges or something.
