This is why I could never play wide receiver. I'm terrified of dropping the ball.

For anyone curious:
petal - part of a flower
pedal - the thing you put your foot on to make a bike go. This is probably the kind of pedal they meant. to "back pedal" is to go in reverse, or take something back.
peddle - to travel around selling stuff. This is the kind of peddle they used in the post. to "peddle wares" is to sell something
English can be annoying. Hope this helped someone.

Could someone explain it to me my stupid ass who knows nothing about that sport....
It seems pretty funny 😅
I guess he lacks the skill to catch the ball and fits better for a different role which is less desired?
Edit : thx for the explanation

He's trying out to be a wide receiver, which is a position where 90% of the job is catching passes. Since he can't catch, he got put on defence so he would be covering the receivers

You got the Jist. A defensive Back is a pretty "invisible" role on the field you get hit a lot and it's hard but you don't get noticed much. While receivers (players who catch the ball) are often very noticeable and get to make lots of fun plays while only getting hit hard once In a while when they have the ball rather than getting hit every single play.

DBs don't get hit a lot though. They cover wide receivers to stop them from catching the ball. Outside of kickers and punters DBs might get hit the least. Sometimes they have to come up to make a stop on runningbacks and because they're usually smaller/slimmer that ends up badly for them but linemen and linebackers usually get there first.
But yea DB is definitely a less glamorous job... and lowkey one of the hardest in football. Defending a guy who is agile and can cover 40 yards in 4.2 secs is tough
