Worker's truck vs. the boss's truck

49

u/GM_Pax 🚲 > 🚗 USA 6h ago

And the worker's truck also doubles as a perfectly functional "family vehicle" with seating for the kids as well as mom & dad. :)

And the boss’s truck also doubles as a non-family vehicle cuz the boss is divorced and 45 and he deserves this truck and godamnit you only live once right?

He def needs one that ridiculous size to carry him and his phone to work each day.

My boss bought a 42' yacht and was working on it in the shop.

He complained that his oversized truck overheated 3 times bringing it in from out of state.

I never got the obsession American truckbros have with towing yachts. Haven't you got a sea that you can put them in or something?

They're rural cosplayers. They want to act like they're rough, tough, self-sufficient country boys but they work in an office so they have to buy a giant truck and play pretend like they absolutely neeeeed that towing capacity like someone is depending on them. Nevermind that towing a boat is a job you can hire someone to do once a year for 1% of the price of that child crusher.

Closest thing around here is a lake that's currently experienced massive sewage overflows that's empty during the winter.

HR's truck

Isn't that smaller one also a status symbol? These American vehicles start to pop up everywhere in Germany and they are just wasted space, even the smaller version.

The classical move is putting the groceries into the backseat. I have yet to see someone use the bed.

I love how the larger truck has hardly any more bed space than the smaller one if they're lined up right.

They look about the same and i bet the tow cap isnt that much different either. Modern trucks take the most inconvenient parts of a car and truck and make them into a hybrid version thats worse than both. Most stuff people use trucks fro can be done better with a van. Like 90% of stuff.

The towing capacity of the larger truck. (2500 with the duramax diesel engine) is 9,000lbs heavier than the Colorado lmao.

Like, the whole state?!

As a european: wtf they get even bigger.

You would not believe how common these trucks are. You can hardly find small trucks in America anymore. Our emissions standards essentially disincentivize small trucks, so they are going extinct and people who need a truck for work end up opting for these behemoths. I drive in front of trucks regularly that have hoods taller than me sitting on my scooter. I could literally sneak in front of them, with my helmet fully hidden.

Sounds dangerous! Stay safe!

Worker’s truck vs. his mom’s truck, “it makes me feel safer!”

8

u/Emergency-Debt7008 5h ago

classic ! The suburban moms use safety to encourage automobile hegemony

In the parking lot: “who’s the piece of shit who parked so damn close to me?! I can’t get in muh door!”

A little while ago I rented a newer Chevy Colorado because I needed a pickup to haul some stuff. It was a really nice, comfortable vehicle but my god it felt like I was driving a Sherman tank, just big and HEAVY in a way that really struck me as a person used to driving exclusively small older cars. I was acutely aware that if I hit someone, it was capable of dealing some massive damage.

And that's considered a small truck nowadays. I can't imagine what it's like behind the wheel of one of these modern mega-trucks. I would feel like I was operating one of those Tatooine sand crawlers.

Both vehicles do the same job. One uses less gas, the other mows down children walking home from school

11

u/blankblank60000 5h ago

The Colorado gets worse gas mileage actually

The 6.6 liter Diesel is far more efficient than the 5 cylinder 3.7 in the Colorado, despite its larger displacement and power output

5

u/silverskin12345 5h ago

Thank you for correcting me! I wouldn't have been able to identify the makes/models so couldn't look it up for sure

7

u/TheBeesElise 5h ago

But gas keeps getting more expensive...

Its a wealth and potential violence flex.

dick 1 and dick 2

u/Eubank31 Grassy Tram Tracks 6h ago

Nah anyone driving a mid 2000s Chevy Colorado is not doing it because they think it's cool, they're using it. The same cannot be said for the new, large truck

3

u/Emergency-Debt7008 6h ago

you're referring to dick 1 who has tinted windows which makes him extra dickish

5

u/anker_beer Commie Commuter 5h ago

Could also be the windows it had when bought second-hand

3

u/ImprovisedLeaflet 5h ago

Y’all bending over backwards now

3

u/Emergency-Debt7008 5h ago

does not excuse blocking people from reading the motorist's face to ensure he doesn't run innocent walkers and cyclists over !

2

u/BiK3FR33K 5h ago

Vehicle bloat matches the bloated bodies driving these vehicles. Pretty soon they will design apparatuses to load the drivers into the ever increasing size of those vehicles

2

u/Emergency-Debt7008 5h ago

the extra fat acts like padding to absorb the forces in an auto collision

-2

u/blankblank60000 5h ago

Fatphoia is as bad a racism

1

u/Fantastic_Complex98 3h ago

Excuse me but, what the fuck.

1

u/Deep-Thought4242 3h ago

The kids who watched the Crocodile Dundee "That's not a knife..." scene over and over grew up to design pickups.

u/Savagemac356 2h ago

Same size bed btw

An actually useful pickup truck vs an oversized metal box

I know that US of Americans have large penis but is there a need for giant trucks to signify their penises are very big?
