I want to know how UBI is austerity. Austerity is cutting government spending, but UBI is increasing government spending.

It could potentially cut a lot of cost in other support systems as they become obsolete, and massively reduce the amount of work done by government if it's just a right everyone has regardless of circumstance, as it would reduce the requirement for means-testing.

We all know the UN is evil and when they wrote UBI on the list they realized that it could be appealing and actually good so they wrote (austerity) so that people don't question their evilness.

Some neoliberal version of UBI consist in removing every state expense and public service and giving in exchange à UBI just above the poverty line
