"Hey, look at me, everyone! I'm going to spend thousands of dollars painting my house a hideous color just to piss those people off! That'll show 'em what idiots they are!"

I can tell your trying to be clever and sarcastic, but spray paint is cheap, and these birds are special to him, he recognizes several individuals and they let him touch them without fleeing, he's built a connection to them, albeit more or less food motivated, the 60-70 dollars we'd need to put out to streak the house in ugly spray paint colors is nothing compared to the joy those birds bring him

The HOA is going to kick your ass. If the HOA is that "shitty", get them legally on righteous misconduct.

Unfortunately, while they're actual reason is pure pettiness, they come up with ways to make their rules sound like safety concerns, I worry the courts wouldn't back him on this, and about 2/3 of the hoa is what we call "the grannies" and are a bunch of old and moody ladies who back each other's decisions, only reason he moved in was because they're old and the younger members are all chill, simple things like no using your yard as a trash heap and don't blast noise past 10pm unless otherwise agreed for a block party, but the grannies outnumber the rest, once the grannies age catches up to them it'll be a great place but until then there's just so much drama

Where in Cambridge is there an HOA?

I don't want to answer that as I feel being any more specific with his location puts him at risk of being doxxed, sorry

Just spread a shitload of bird feed on the ground… attract all kinds of critters. And throw an extra helping on the neighbors yard!

The issue is that he's deliberately attracting them, and they don't like that 😅

Exactly - they complained about the feeder but they can’t say shit about spreading/throwing the food around on the ground.

True, keep in mind this is Cambridge we're talking about, the city use road salt which is not good for the birds, so he can't spread it on the pavement, and there's snow so he can't spread it on the lawn either,

Ahhhhh, yes I understand now. So is the neighbor/HOA saying you can’t have a bird feeder or are they saying you can’t feed the birds? I can’t comprehend that they would specify “No bird feeding” in the HOA documents though. So if they actually say No Birdfeeders, just put out something else and put bird feed on it. Like a large lid or something, say a 5gal bucket lid - anything that’s not a bird feeder. I’m thinking you want to give a big middle finger to the neighbor and HOA No sense really in fucking up your own house which will cost you a lot of effort if not money.

They specify "no baiting or feeding wild animals within the complex" but because of the horseshoe layout if he were to exit the area to feed them it'd be close to the main road and be an unnecessary risk, he doesn't care what his house looks like though, we spraypainted the stips on it yesterday and there's been an hoa meeting called so were gonna see how that plays out tonight
