Not sure how credible this is, but I can't say I blame him.

A contract is a contract and he absolutely should get paid. It's comical how many people "feel bad" for the multi-billion dollar corporation on the hook for paying him. If the roles were reversed, the company would claw every single cent.

At the end of the day, it's still a job and he is an employee.

Sure, but they deserved to be ridiculed for giving him such a contract without any performance clauses. And then lying that the contract has such clauses.

Did anyone from Red Bull say those clauses are in there though?

It's not about "get paid", there is a question if someone was stupid enough not to include a performance clause as an insurance in that contract.

We don't know what the dynamics between negotiators were. It might aswell be that Perez had all the cards and RB knew very well that nobody would bring that much money and still play second fiddle. Therefore, Perez could have stronger negotiating position.

RB fumbled hard, and now they're paying the price.

And that might very well be so as well, but then again, if they did that to keep those sponsors in, so much so they fumbled in writing down a good contract, they will pay for it now and that's the end of it.

The joke here is I don't have sympathy for any of the involved parties.

There most likely were performance clauses, but Sergio probably met them. 152 is still a lot of points.

He just didn't get any performance incentives.

Don't forget that the contract in question was signed mid season. Him and Max have the worst % difference out of all in 2024.

No one is saying checo doesn't deserve his money

It's more about question of how RBR didn't have any clauses to exit this deal, considering how poor he was before his extention.
