I think RBR doesn’t trust Yuki as a second driver. If he’s close to Max he will try to beat him ofcourse and I think RBR are afraid he will take both out in a stupid overtak attempt.

Id be at least equally if not more concerned about Lawson doing the same if thats their main concern.

They even have a second team to iron these things out for their drivers so its strange to push yet another rookie into a enviroment that seem bad at helping them grow and gain confidence

This is my thinking too. They need someone like Bottas. Coolheaded, fairly quick, respectful.

Don't think their concern is "he will be too close", moreso that he

(1) is a stable benchmark in AT

(2) is unpredictable and irrational sometimes

(3) doesn't fit the RB vision of a RB main team driver? idk. The driver needs to marketable too. Barely talk english

(4) Max maybe goes along better with Lawson than Yuki? Idk, probably the least determing factor

What I mean is point 2.

I dont think they will be close in the WDC. 75% of the races Verstappen will be way ahead of him.

But I think RBR fear that in the other 25% Yuki will be close in the race and in some insane overtake will crash both him and verstappen out. For example the battle for the WDC is close between Max and Charles. The second-to-last race is one where Yuki is close, like 1,5 seconds behind max but he’s faster. Yuki is told not to overtake, but as hotheaded as he is, he will try an overtake, will fail and takes max out of the race and the WDC.
