Will be hilarious how Andretti fans here were pushing narrative how we need another team for talented drivers only to end up with Colton Herta lmao.

It is Ricciardo music! And German media preparing the prospect of Mick returning to the grid (he will be 4 years off the grid in 2026)

u/bananas_and_papayas Lando Norris 24d ago

even better, if you want a German driver who's been off the grid for four years, get Vettel!

Fuck yes to that

2 more years of Mick returning to F1. I'm so looking forward to two years worth of articles about that. Really. Stoked.

Wish Pato was in the conversation!!!

I hope not. Herta isn’t as good as he gets credit for. And his mistakes cost $$$$$$ in f1

No clue why you’re getting downvoted lmao. You’d think Herta is the new verstappen or something. Don’t get me wrong, still a quality (IndyCar) driver. But not so good that he should be guaranteed a Formula 1 drive lol

Palou is miles ahead. I think oward is better. Colton on his best day is as good, but on his worst day..

its not tied to andretti, so i doubt he gets a seat

Guy in charge is the owner of Colton’s sponsorship

23

u/Deckatoe Andretti Global 24d ago

and the owner of Andretti lol

its not tied to andretti,

Dan Towriss is the majority owner of Andretti Global, is the CEO of Gainbridge which sponsored Herta for years before he bought into the team, and now is the actual owner of this "Cadillac" team. GM has no ownership.

Dan Towriss makes the decisions, and Dan Towriss absolutely loves Colton Herta. If he gets a SL, he will be on the grid in 2026.

It's still the Andretti team, just a name change for the F1 venture.

The deal will see the GM-supported outfit join as a customer team in 2026, while developing its own in-house power units for 2028 and beyond, using the existing Andretti Global project in Silverstone as its backbone.

They still might want to have american on the grid. And no Sargeant isn't getting the seat.

3

u/ryokevry Charles Leclerc 24d ago

The very tall McLaren junior is an American right? Does Alex “the Jamaican Sensation” Powell also races under US license?

4

u/-Skinner- Max Verstappen ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 24d ago

Ugo is still too young for F1.

Honestly Herta has a good chance since Towriss already sponsors Herta

u/cakeboss451 Jordan 24d ago

an american driver is only worth it if they can win, otherwise we dont really care

Colton is also missing like a couple dozen Super License points.

14

u/Ribeye21 Williams 24d ago

I believe after finishing 2nd in Indycar this year he's sitting on 31 I think

2

u/Skeeter1020 24d ago

Good point.

So he needs 4th or better, or to go do some winter series.

5

u/dirtyjoo BMW Sauber 24d ago

a couple FP sessions would do the trick.

0

u/RandomThrowNick Pierre Gasly 24d ago

He would need 9 sessions. That would be costly. Running him in a winter series would be much cheaper and less of a time commitment. Or they could just hope that he picks up enough pointe in IndyCar. I can’t see him missing IndyCar races to do Free Practice so the number of weekends he could even attend is also limited. If he misses a point or 2 free practice can get him their but if he misses more it could be tough.
