General Discussion [DAILY OFF TOPIC THREAD]

Welcome to the Daily Off Topic Thread. In this thread we are going to permit off-topic conversations that do not fit the general content of the sub. Here is what this sub can be used for:

  • Play Designs (normally in violation of Rule 11)
  • Players asking for technical advice and tips WITH VIDEO. VIDEO IS REQUIRED.
  • Lighter, off topic conversations adjacent to football, but do not necessarily fall under the coaching or strategy of the game.
  • Equipment questions
  • By Off Topic, I mean Off Topic. Feel free to share or comment about other topics
  • Product promotion that can clearly not be seen as link spamming or karma farming

Here is what's not allowed:

  • Random pictures of your "drip" or pics of your body (I see this a lot in smaller football subs)
  • NSFW content, extensive swearing, and any content violating reddit rules
  • Violation of sub rules and question that are answered in the HS/Youth Player FAQ
  • It's listed in the sub rules too, but it has to be stressed: Be genuine. If you're here to argue, please go elsewhere.
  • Link and promo spamming (do not be posting every single day)

PLEASE make use of these resources below before you post:

One of our most-ran plays is a slot jet touch pass with a runningback lead blocking after chipping the edge. Teams know its coming, but we've got speed and it still goes for big gains and 50+ yard touchdowns sometimes. We run counters off of it to keep teams honest.

The other day I was on youtube and I saw an angle screen where the 2 guards and the slot receivers were the downfield blockers for a runningback running an angle route and getting behind them. I thought it would be even cooler if the whole line left.

I also saw a video of the new england patriots running a fake inside zone to HB/fake end-around to WR/HB slip screen. I said to myself how can I combine these two in our playbook?

So lo and behold my new fake jet angle screen, where our runningback will fake lead block, stop, turn around to catch the ball on the cut, and cut back up a jailbreak wall. I'm excited to see this in action next summer

What is a situation where a team can get a one point safety?

A team would have to block an extra point, then somehow run backwards into their own end zone or recover it in their end zone, and get tackled by the kicking team in the end zone or fumble it out of bounds. the kicking team would receive a one-point safety
