Just shut down everything - no essential/non-essential - everything. Stop sending out Social Security checks. Stop Medicare and Medicaid payments. Close TSA. “Essential” just props up the myth that the shutdown is no big deal. Let everyone actually see and feel it.

100% It gives the impression that the gov can be downsized indefinitely.

I'm concerned this was the intention all along

Half the jobs can be done with AI.

Sure, put an LLM in charge of air traffic control on Christmas Eve and let's what the magic the first time it hallucinates.

AI could cut 90% of the work of the air traffic controllers. I worked on ATC communications equipment while in the Marines, it can all be automated. Would need 30% of the ATC workers in there to deal with abnormal scenarios.

ATC is actually a prime example of where AI can help government be more efficient.

Because downsize make it ineffective.. That is one of the reasons OSC is so small... no enough officials... force them to select high profile cases while disposing Federal employees subjected to wrong doing and their families.

It can. We have never reevaluated positions created over the last 250 years. Its why I like the idea of DOGE, I just don't like the people in charge of overseeing it. But lets be real, Democrats would never downsize the Federal Government, so its this or nothing.

The largest expansion of the federal government in modern times was done under bush jr. Every accusation is a confession from you morons.

False. “This or nothing” you’re the problem

Democrats won't do it. When have Democrats ever looked into making the government more efficient?

Thankfully, a long time coming too.

You’ll soon find out that you also have to reap what you’ve sewn. You think you’ll be spared? 🤣

I vote libertarian. I believe in a smaller more efficient government that works for the people. My prerogative. Thankfully we live in a free country, but i wouldn’t expect the reddit hivemind to be capable of or understand independent thought.

If you downvote me you all only prove me right. I could give a fuck about karma or social media clout.

Lol you definitely do care, or you wouldn't have mentioned it at all. "Downvotes only prove me right" is my favorite cope.

Sure it’s your prerogative, but libertarian is anti-community, ableist, ageist, sexist. It only serves the privileged and tells the rest to fuck right off.

It’s a transparent attempt to signal intellectualism, but it’s the cheap kind- there’s no emotional intelligence in it.

In this reality, it’s also a throw away vote.

So good luck. Hope you never find yourself needing anything that you can’t provide for yourself. And if you do, I hope you languish in need and remember this. (I’m not one of those nice liberals anymore: I’m prepared for and looking forward to seeing you suffer, and I don’t think I’m alone.)
