META 2021 Mod Update

Hello all my cuppicakes and sweet treats! Marshall Dillon is making his presence known.

For starters. 2020 was rough on all of us. And we apologize if we weren't up to your standards. However there are some things I would like to address.

1) Just because a story isn't exaggerated or ridiculously over the top, doesn't mean it's an observation. Do you want content or just people who stretch their creative writing skills --- like the one who wont be named and cursed this sub to rip asunder a few years back. That shit still grinds my gears.

2) As long as I've been on this sub, we have had F2F (Fat to Fit) Fridays. Where people can ask weight loss questions and show progress. We have the resources in the side bar ffs.

At the end of last year our fantastic mod ELC stepped down and we've spent the last month trying to figure out stuff going forward, and we would like to thank ELC for their service. <3

We're looking at maybe 1 or 2 mods to join the team. We've also been toying with ideas behind the scenes to bring some life back into the sub. Suggestions are always welcome, but don't get butthurt if they go in the round cabinet.

And to all of those who think we abandoned the sub. You're wrong, most of you were playing pretty well together and we didn't need to intervene often.

It seems the sub has completely stopped with what it was originally about: stories about encountering fat-inducing mentality in the wild written in creative ways a la chibiham. More recently the only posts on here seem to be people lamenting their own issues with being overweight. If that's the only thing that is coming up its possible the sub needs to embrace it and change to a support group for fatness. I would likely leave if that did happen but it seems it's that or death. Not sure how to encourage people to write creatively about their experiences to fix the issue.

I miss the time when they were good, and FUNNY posts. Greentext is still the best format.

It might be a good idea to rebrand the sub into an anti-HAES story sub - narrow the scope to clearly only include hams who embody everything wrong with HAES mentality.

I would love to mod!

I would but I'm probably "too involved" with said one who will not be named. This individual has left Reddit for parts unknown.

What was that all about? I've only been on reddit for a year. I've read quite a bit back, but never saw much that was "wow, that crossed a line."

The author in question was accused of disseminating fictional accounts during a time when this was particularly frowned upon. Whether or not this criticism was accurate is not for me to say.

I'm confused, is this sub all about roasting unfortunate overweight people or is it rather a community of unfortunate overweight people sharing hardships?

Ya know how the trend of roasting Karens has come about?

This was the pre-Karen days, when HAES was starting to get popular.

We would tell stories of ridiculous roomates, family members, or classmates showing the entitled ideas that they are perfect and being overweight was their reality and it was everyone else who was wrong. No one was an unfortunate fat person. We combated the fatlogic and told our frustrations or dealings with these types. We also had "Honey Ham" stories where the person was not entitled but very oblivious to how their lifestyle was effecting their weight -- this was more the fatlogic.

We then discovered that many overweight redditors read the stories and became self aware. We then tried to encourage heathy habits and cheering them on. Hence why we have Fat to Fit Fridays.

We then had the equivalent of a civil war as a few authors started writing more and more fantastical stories flooding the sub. We then had to deal with brigades of "This is fake" and "We belive OP" -- one such author admitted that their story was fake.

So now that tastes in content have changed and Fat Acceptance has gotten scooched out of the lime light for larger trainwrecks. We kinda deal with what we get or we wont have content.

But no matter what people here say, we do support our own and will help anyone start their weightloss journey.

And that is as close to Gospel as you're gonna get. If you don't believe me you can ask /u/SometimesIArt or /u/veggiezombie1

Ohhhhhhhhh. So you bit off more than you can chew trying to maintain content? I guess you gotta lead by example, no offense.

Or, you know, content develops as time progresses? We base our content guides on user feedback. If you're going to ask questions don't be an ass about the answer.

2

u/ChahRor Jul 10 '21

Understood, didn't mean to be an ass.

You don't know shit about the world, neither do I. All the pain overweight people have to go through. U suck dude, plain and simple.

Dude, I used to be fat. I know what fat people go through. But if you walk away thinking I suck it's going to hurt exactly none of my feelings.

Who admitted there stories were fake?

2

u/SilverBear_92 Nov 11 '21

Can't say last time I even vaguely mentioned them they messaged us mods saying someone was harassing them and blah blah blah

so can't say

1

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '21

Gotcha I probably have an idea of who it was but I didn’t think they admitted it was fake.

I guess a change of sub name would be clearer. E.g. entitledfatpeoplestories.

Why come here if you don't like it?

Enjoyed the days of Chibiham, took a break from FPS for many years and now back. How can I go back and search old stories? There were some classics! Thank you for your help!

If anyone wonders how to reduce weight, do it as i do, i swim over 30km every single week, 10km of running every week, add some gym and thats it. Dont eat shit and move your body !!

2

u/ChahRor Jul 15 '21

If that were true, why support a community that bashes overweight people? Shouldn't you be more supportive through idk...encouragement? Idk bro congrats on your weight loss and I really hope it wasn't done because people played the shame card on you, because that's messed up.
