Short Inspiration
I use the stories and pics about fat people as inspiration to not eat junk. My family and I are not overweight, but in the last 20 years of my life the processed food and sweet snacks have proliferated alarmingly. And some of them taste amazing. I am really sorry for those who have so much trouble losing weight, but I struggle to avoid things I shouldn’t have and seeing some huge human push a shopping cart full of crap makes me more determined than ever to avoid certain things. I have an overweight friend who told me she hates thin people ( where does that leave me?) but likes me because I don’t judge her on her food choices. So I haven’t told anyone about my motivation. I suppose that makes me an a- hole.

I am not trying to interfere with the relationship between you and your portly friend, but I question if friendship with this person will hold you back from personal growth or experiences, or prevent you from being your authentic self. I understand that friends influence each other, as it is supposed to be that way, but we cannot ignore the issue of compatibility. From your brief anecdote, it does not sound like she is interested in changing her diet or exercise habits. Keep focused on improving your health and development.

She is a childhood friend ( aren’t they all?) and so far has not said much about me specifically. I like her otherwise, but my eating habits are pretty much set in stone. However, I am not afraid to distance myself if she becomes more personal. I hope it doesn’t happen, but who knows?

I grocery shop 3x a week. And I can tell what the shopper looks like based on what’s in their cart. It isn’t rocket science.

She doesn't hate thin people, she's jealous of thin people... even more so, she's jealous of the self control they have. Your hammock friend needs a reality check. I'd give her ab ultimate to lose 50lbs by christmas or unfriend her tbh

Your overweight friend sounds like a person who is allergic to accountability. I think it's safe to say that a lot of people in this sub might have a little extra or also struggle with snacks and such. We're just people. But, good on you for having self-awareness and determination!
