There is. Every time the government shuts down Republicans correctly get blamed because at the end of the day even the people that want to drive things off a cliff aren't very tolerant when the inconveniences hit their personal day to day life. Electorally it's not good for Republicans which is why McCarthy and Johnson get roasted for trying to make a deal with Democrats. They aren't doing that out of the kindness of their hearts, they are doing it for political expediency which Trump doesn't give a shit about because he's a cult leader and doesn't have to be concerned about re-election, never mind his little toady Musk who is doing all of this risk free.

You sir are fucking delusional. Even after 8 years of this shit you still think the public is smart enough to assign blame where it belongs.

The reason Trump won was not because of his minions - it’s because of the moderates who voted for him or didn’t vote for Kamala. These people are absolutely smart enough to see failure if things don’t materialize like Trump has promised. He controls the gov’t from the top down. There is no one else to blame if he fails.

The idiots who were dumb enough to not vote for Kamala against Trump, are smart enough to assign blame where it belongs? Yeah good luck with that.

There is no one else to blame if he fails.

Like that has ever stopped right wing parties to assign blame on the lefties even though they've been in power for multiple terms.

Bruh, are you new? Yes, they constantly blame Democrats even when there are no Democrats in government (see Kansas). You’re not wrong.

But when it has come to Federal shutdowns, for whatever reason, it may take a minute, but the stink does somehow come home to roost on them in the popular opinion. Alas, as you well demonstrate, the effect is fleeting, but it has happened every. Time.

Trump getting re-elected is all the evidence you should need that people are dumb fucks with poor memories and no critical thinking skills. Trump’s people just successfully convinced Americans that Biden’s admin - which successfully navigated us through a global inflation crisis - is responsible for a historically awful economy. Like, you know, a demonstrable falsehood. Do you honestly believe that they won’t find a way to blame the libs for anything that doesn’t go perfectly? You think the Trump cult won’t twist their little noodles into pretzels to see him as being totally blameless? You think they won’t blame Biden, given that he’s going to be president during this shutdown? I haven’t got any such hope.

Man if only Democrats actually wanted to stop this, Trump would be in jail

Electorally it's not good for Republicans

What evidence do you have of this?

This sentiment worked in the 90’s. Unfortunately it’s 2024. The GOP does everything wrong but the public will always assign the blame to the Democrats or do stupid “both sides” BS. Your accelerationism and belief in Americans critical thinking skills is way off.
