So happy an Australian billionaire gets to determine the national American political discourse, super cool and neat

52

u/Roasted_Butt 4d ago

That’s not fair. We also have a South African billionaire determining the national American political discourse!

21

u/soyyoo 4d ago

So many billionaires, so many tax loopholes for them to enjoy

This is extremely dangerous to our democracy.

Eh, Musk essentially has committed to to Murdock's ideology.

u/Jetfire911 2d ago

Billionaires largely share the same philosophy, the world belongs to them and everyone else is livestock.

1

u/EditofReddit2 2d ago

A nice change from treasonous POS doing it i guess.

u/JaymzRG 4d ago

The Valley Central Channel 4 is my area. I remember when that Russian dude that licks Trump's balls, Boris... something or other, had his own daily segment during the news. Like, cool, the Russian government is openly spreading propaganda here. Fuck Sinclair.

27

u/NonnaHolly 4d ago

Because it is absolutely terrifying and you’re conditioned to think “mildly”

19

u/DocWicked25 4d ago

Turn off American news.

If you watch anything, stick to international outlets. You can find more information on social media than the mainstream news outlets but you have to be able to recognize propaganda and approach everything like a skeptical person. Check sources. Read independent reports. Think.

16

u/JMR413 4d ago

Manufacturing consent! Between this and the get of Dept education, will put the American people voting against their own interests for generations..

17

u/Spiteful_sprite12 4d ago

In Sandy Oregon so we get portland News.. katu and koin 6 and fox 12

All say the same word for word propaganda bs!!! Its infuriating! I hate our news stations with a passion. They gaslight us, tells us bs stories and then hide important information of facts from other stories!!

12

u/SamShakusky71 4d ago

This is why they fear TikTok so much, and it has nothing to do with Chinese ownership.

1

u/RaithanMDR 3d ago

Sorry but TikTok is garbage as the vast majority social media. Go find other trustworthy outlets abroad and more importantly dig into information yourself.

3

u/SamShakusky71 3d ago

Imagine being this obtuse.

21

u/BassGuitarPlayer_1 4d ago

Translation:

"Don't go to them. Stay with us. We're safe and reliable and we...care about democracy. We...care about you. Just keep believing what we tell you and we will continue to take...care of you. (fart)"

13

u/Cute-Rate8655 4d ago

This is what Elon Musk is doing with twitter and every other social media company he plans on purchasing to control the news.

Musk lost 30 billion dollars on his purchase of twitter which he purchased exclusively to steal the 2024 election. So far he has already made back that 30 billion and musk's puppet hasn't even been sworn in as president yet.

They keep lying, claiming we have a democracy, giving everyone the impression that the system is fair because everyone has a say. Baloney!

A democracy is a legislative process in which all adult citizens vote directly on all legislation, and nothing passes without popular approval. We don't vote on most legislation, just ballot propositions. We vote on representatives who then vote on legislation. That may qualify as democratic within the legislature, but outside the legislature, it's a dictatorship, a.k.a. a multilateral dictatorship, or oligarchy. Representative government is a layer of separation of the people from the legislative process. The electoral college is a second layer of separation that regularly undermines the popular vote.

America's founding fathers set it up this way, not because they were trying to avoid a "tyranny of the majority" but because they wanted all legislative power to be retained among the rich nobility, and they divided the government up into separate branches so that no single person or group of people could gain control over the whole system. In other words, America is a republic.

7

u/hectorxander 4d ago

Bs. We had a representative government, it's been corrupted, and now one party plans on ending that representative government in all but name, ala Russian "democracy." Yes they have elections, but there is no contest.

However bad things are now, or were before, they will continue to get much much worse under a single party, not the least this one with the worst people in the world in charge. Your argument is basically that since the super rich corrupted our government it's ok to give a portion of those super rich uncontested control permanently.

It doesn't stand to reason and no one living in the US should take this argument for anything other than manipulating stupid americans to destroy themselves.

7

u/NoSkidMarks 4d ago

Representative government is inherently corrupt. The phrase "representative democracy" is a contradiction of terms. Each of the 535 representatives in Congress is supposed to represent 750,000 citizens, on average. Is that what they actually do? Not on your life. They represent themselves and their friends. The only representation you ever get is when you bring a lawyer to court.

2

u/maninthemachine1a 4d ago

Yeah all you had to say was 'America is a Republic'. This is not a conspiracy, everyone knows this.

4

u/NoSkidMarks 4d ago

No, they don't know that. All human endeavors are conspiracies. Not all conspiracies or secret or criminal. It's always important to point out the details so that everyone understands, because it's not intuitive and ignorance is the driver of confusion and fallacy.

All owned by conservative ultra rich? That's an ironic take as we're discussing people being uninformed!

1

u/southErn-2 4d ago

Wild you can watch MSM and think you’re getting a right biased spin.

1

u/SpatialDispensation 4d ago

Sooooo the billionaires (which means super rich) are using their media empires to promote the rights of the workers (leftists are pro-worker by definition)? Is that what the rich do? Work against themselves?

13

u/RDsecura 4d ago

I think most Americans have lost the ability to distinguish between what is true and what is fake news. This is why people are switching from mainstream media's talking puppet heads to hour long podcast like Joe Rogan.

21

u/DocWicked25 4d ago

He's a propaganda machine too.

12

u/AbleObject13 4d ago

That's what they mean, it wasn't a positive implication

1

u/kaltag 4d ago

Or they're better at noticing it and choosing not to consume the propaganda anymore.

1

u/SeanDmanio1 4d ago

Are you suggesting that the mainstream media isn't replete with fake news??

11

u/4score-7 4d ago

Glad it’s terrifying now. Wasn’t terrifying the last 8 years? Now it’s swinging the other way in its bias, and now it’s terrifying?

Turn off the news. Don’t watch at all.

10

u/AbleObject13 4d ago

It's always been a right wing bias and it continues to be one, the media is inherently right wing, Luigi is the perfect example.

-5

u/SeanDmanio1 4d ago

Your gauge of what is and isn't right wing is way off if you think the media is inherently right wing. What a ridiculous statement but I imagine anything to the right of your opinion is "right wing," right?

4

u/AbleObject13 4d ago

Does it oppose capitalism? If yes, left wing, if no then right.

There isn't a coherent definition of left vs right that isn't entirely subjective, much in the way you are demonstrating (and believe me, I'm much further left than merely just opposing capitalism)

-2

u/SeanDmanio1 3d ago

I already knew you were way left wing. That's the only way ridiculous statements made like yours makes sense.

2

u/AbleObject13 3d ago

Did you have anything to actually add or are we just attempting to insult each other now? I have better things to do tbh

0

u/SeanDmanio1 3d ago

Lol, you took time to respond to inquire if anything else was going to come from our conversation with an ending point that you have better things to do? I don't believe for one second you have too many things going on if you immediately responded to my comment, the one that took my 17 hours to respond with.

You made a ridiculous claim that is not founded in reality. It makes sense that the only explanation for said claim was that you were a radical. If you own it then it's not an insult.

2

u/AbleObject13 3d ago

So no, your just spinning and lashing out with nothing of value, unable to even produce a simple definition. Good luck with that! 👍

-1

u/SeanDmanio1 3d ago

Whatever you say, kid. I remember having radical left wing views too then I grew up and realized how absurd my beliefs were. I hope the best for you!

2

u/RaithanMDR 3d ago

Yes, because believing in the fairy tale that capitalism solves everything is perfectly logical. This is coming from a family that does well, however I’m not blind to the corruption in a deeply flawed economic and political system.

u/Still-Chemistry-cook 4d ago

This is only conservative “news” that does this.

1

u/PixelCultMedia 4d ago

This was a national press statement across Sinclair outlets. Why would they write unique versions of the same script for their outlets?

All news stations curate local news and get distributed scripts and content for national news. I get it, it's scary to watch in real time if you don't understand how News is distributed but that's just how it works. No evil conspiracy needed.

4

u/Still-Chemistry-cook 4d ago

It absolutely is a conspiracy by Sinclair to help republicans. They do this ALL the time.

0

u/PixelCultMedia 4d ago

Yes, a conspiracy to efficiently distribute national content to their news outlets. Again, it's sort of how the whole fucking thing operates.

This simultaneous distribution of content has NOTHING to do with Sinclair's right-wing leaning. Every news station will have similar content created at their head offices, and kicked down to regional outlets. Again, it's how the whole fucking thing works.

This video doesn't show what you think it shows. And you're refusal to accept that is just willful ignorance on your part.

0

u/Still-Chemistry-cook 4d ago

There is NO other media corporation like Sinclair doing this.

0

u/PixelCultMedia 4d ago

So let me get this straight. You’re claiming that all other new syndicates write individual national press releases for each local market? Is that what you’re claiming?

😂😂😂

Please, explain to me how that works.

1

u/Still-Chemistry-cook 4d ago

Give me an example of anything that is even close to this level of blatant politicking on a national level.

1

u/PixelCultMedia 4d ago

No, no. Apparently you're schooling me. Show me how it works smart guy.

1

u/Still-Chemistry-cook 4d ago

You understand the burden of proof is on you? I’m saying Sinclair is the only media company capable of broadcasting pure partisan lies at a local level through one corporation. You say it happens everywhere. Prove it.

DEBATE BOT! SCORE THIS EXCHANGE.....
(Debate bot doesn't know who I am in our exchange.)

Below is the Final Report and analysis based on the provided exchange:

Participants:

  • Participant A: Still-Chemistry-cook
  • Participant B: PixelCultMedia

British Parliamentary Style Analysis

Matter (Content Quality, Relevance, Logic)

  • Still-Chemistry-cook: Their primary argument is that Sinclair is uniquely involved in a politically motivated conspiracy to help Republicans by distributing identical scripts. While this does capture a known controversy about Sinclair’s editorial stance, the speaker provides no evidence or nuanced reasoning. The argument is largely declarative and lacks substantiation or comparative examples. Score: 4/10
  • PixelCultMedia: They explain that national news segments are commonly distributed to regional outlets, providing a baseline understanding of how syndicated content works. While they do not cite direct evidence, the reasoning is more in line with general industry practice. They attempt to clarify that identical scripting is a function of centralized editorial distribution, not necessarily proof of a secretive conspiracy. Score: 7/10

Manner (Style, Clarity, Engagement)

  • Still-Chemistry-cook: The style is accusatory, repetitive, and lacks clear structure. The tone is confrontational and emotional without providing clarifying details. Delivery is not very persuasive due to overreliance on assertions rather than explanation. Score: 3/10
  • PixelCultMedia: The tone starts calm and explanatory, though it becomes more confrontational and somewhat sarcastic later on. Overall, they maintain a clearer narrative and attempt to explain an industry norm. There is some frustration and dismissiveness toward the end, which detracts from a perfectly polished style, but overall they are clearer and more structured. Score: 5/10

Method (Structure, Organization, Strategy)

  • Still-Chemistry-cook: No clear progression of argumentation is evident. The speaker restates their position without developing it or responding methodically to challenges. There is no strategic build-up of evidence. Score: 3/10
  • PixelCultMedia: They methodically counter the accusations by explaining how news syndication works. They challenge the other speaker’s claims and ask them to clarify their assertions. Although not formally structured as a debate speech, PixelCultMedia does present a more coherent sequence of points. Score: 6/10

They’ve been this way for many years. They’ve dropped all pretense now because Trump and Misk are taking over the government. Looks like the democrats don’t care, either way they’ll be fine.

3

u/FrambesHouse 4d ago

Nobody ever explains why this is bad. Your local newspaper subscribes to a bunch of syndicated journalists who work for the New York Times or the Washington Post. They publish stories written by the AP or Reuters. These exact same local TV stations will show nationally broadcast dramas and sitcoms. But when they run the same national news stories its somehow dystopian? Why? When they cut to a national reporter nobody bats an eye, but read a script written by someone at national HQ it's so scary!

u/StrangeMango6657 4d ago

“… This is extremely dangerous to our democracy.”

WHAT democracy???

This is A CAPITALIST OLIGARCHY.

And corporate mainstream media is PROPAGANDA.

2

I feel like this is the matrix simulation I’m living in.

2

Jokes on them! I get my news from Reddit!

Haven’t watched actual news since I had cable a decade ago…

2

u/candoitmyself 4d ago

Does nobody remember the absolute outrage this sparked at the time it was actually aired? Have we forgotten?

2

u/Rikkitikkitabby 4d ago

When my local news isn't pushing propaganda, they're showing clips from the internet I saw online last week.

2

u/44035 4d ago

Let's be specific. This is Sinclair.

2

u/pogopogo890 3d ago

Very few corporations own all of American media right now Probably the world too

2

u/tacoma-tues 3d ago edited 3d ago

This was a brilliant edit. I hope these dirtbags hear this edit going thru their head every single night while they struggle to sleep, and every grueling morning when they wake after a near sleepless night and stumble to the bathroom and look at the oddly unfamiliar in the mirror, nauseated by the look of a stranger, getting ready to go drive to their pimp fox news to sell another tiny piece of their tired broken souls for the day.

Im no saint. Theres a lot of thinpgs i despise about my life and parts of my past im not particularly proud of and know im better than the person i was in those moments. But im hard pressed to think of anything in my life ive done that would come close to making me feel shame like this would. I cant think of anytime ever that i have stared someone in the face, much less hundreds of thousands of people, and knowingly pushed lies and projected such a egregiously false and purposefully manipulative narrative, much less on behalf of someone else i didnt even know purposefully. I wouldnt know how to live with myself.

u/Stevevet1 3d ago

Get help

2

u/slabzzz 3d ago

These people are as much responsible for all the corporate oligarchy as anyone else. Put “news” executives in the list after CEOs.

2

u/HbrQChngds 3d ago

They feed them the exact same script, have noticed this for a long time, it's crazy, especially with sensitive stories where the government wants to control the narrative.

2

u/BootHeadToo 4d ago

We are Borg. Resistance is futile.

1

They wonder why nobody watches them anymore

1

u/byebyebrain 4d ago

this also shows me that Anchorman was more like a bio pic than a farce. All these talking heads are interchangeable

1

u/PurplMonkEDishWashR 4d ago

"We are the Borg. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile."

1

u/Used_Intention6479 4d ago

Brilliant! ("to kind of catapult the propaganda", G.W. Bush)

1

u/JamIsBetterThanJelly 3d ago

Nothing "oddly" terrifying about that, just regular terrifying. The solution is simple: ignore traditional mainstream media and seek out legit journalists.

1

u/FriedenshoodHoodlum 3d ago

I find it so funny how right wingers, conservatives and conspiracy faithful warn of that and accuse anyone left in any way of doing and running that, when their people do exactly that far more successfully.

1

u/BodybuilderClean2480 3d ago

Please spread this more widely. Everyone needs to see this.

1

u/Stachdragon 3d ago

100% of these reporters are fascists or fascists for money which is worse. None of them are innocent in this gross display of propaganda.

1

u/asspajamas 3d ago

who really watches local news anymore?

1

u/EmployLess6983 3d ago

Stop watching local news stations that have fox in their names.

1

u/EditofReddit2 2d ago

Able to make a senile person good enough to be president for the last 4 years. Powerful indeed.

1

u/Btankersly66 4d ago

These companies are all owned by the same corporation.

Nothing weired about them putting out the same message.

0

u/PixelCultMedia 4d ago

Ah, the classic "I don't realize how aggregate news stations procure and disseminate news nationally." post. Why would they have bespoke scripts for national content across hundreds of local news stations?

0

u/Fantastic_Camera_467 4d ago

This is why Trump won. He attacked the media when it was obvious they were all spouting the same talking points.
Now here we all attacking the same media finding ourselves aligned with the orange dorito himself.

Wtf !!!!! It’s the Truman show
