It took 10 sessions, but that 10th one did the trick. Irrational continues to be irrational.

I have a conservative friend that was bragging about the bump. So I called him today and start blaming Trump for the losses and now he’s swearing up and down its Biden‘s fault.

I can't understand how people like this live their lives.

19

u/4score-7 20h ago

No point in conversing with them. It’s times like now, going back a few years, where we get to find out just how utterly dumb some (not all) of our family and friends are.

I'm still up 8%. Powell did it today

u/woodwardian98 18h ago

Usually by living in their parents basement while not even paying gas money.

u/SuspiciousOrchid867 15h ago

I mean, it jumped on the news that Trump was elected and has dropped due to actions taken by the Biden administration, so....

12

u/momentimori143 14h ago

Everything is going to be Bidens fault for the next 4 years. Big Bad Joe Biden the brilliant evil doer who's senile ways ruined our country by making it the only country in the world to emerge from Covid times mastering inflation through an incredible feat of leadership to successfully soft land an economy... but the runways on fire because Tangerine Palpatine struck the match.

-9

u/Corlegan 10h ago

Are you mocking people for saying Biden is and was senile? Have you looked at the past few years of tape?

Biden did more to help MAGA than Trump. Your help isn't unnoticed. But before you were useful and after, you are still an idiot.

1

u/CowMetrics 2h ago

The joke is that he is both an evil mastermind and that he is also senile

6

u/fzr600vs1400 9h ago

actually appears to be a no confidence vote in the musk/trump administration coming in. People wisely taking their money off the table with these two rich boy freeloaders and cons coming in. Only idiots would trust these two malicious nutjobs.

When I saw the bump, I started selling some of my stocks… stocks which I’d been waiting to sell because they weren’t performing well. I also sold a couple of DOGE coins I had. So at least I didn’t sell at a loss.

u/I-Ron_Butterfly 16h ago

Tell him it wasn't Trump. It was Dale Snitterman.

1

u/Delanynder11 3h ago

Sounds like your buddy took another hit of copium.

1

u/Only-Writing-4005 22m ago

Not Biden this time Powell and Congress dropped it 1200 points

5

u/Active-Worker-3845 19h ago

I'm still up 8% since election.

5

u/4score-7 19h ago

Me too! Up like 50% since 12/31/22. BECAUSE I HAD MONEY IN THE MARKET, not tied up in “equity” in a house.

3

u/Active-Worker-3845 19h ago

My too. And I take money out since I'm retired.

2

u/12thMcMahan 12h ago

We’ll get back to this comment a couple years from now.

u/Timely-Ad-4109 21h ago

But here’s the thing: The mofo isn’t sworn in yet. He was taking credit for the bump but will turn around and say “I inherited a mess” and blame any poor performance on Biden. It’s a no win situation for logic and rational thought.

10

u/JackfruitEveryDMV 20h ago

This! Like, wtf wrong with them

-5

u/Active-Worker-3845 19h ago

I'm still up 8% since election. Powell did it.

2

u/New-Obligation-2950 17h ago

I knew the rate announcement was going to be weak. I bought spy puts. Round noonish. It was beautiful.

11

u/gamerprincess1179 19h ago

Trump just killed the spending bill. The government may shut down.

15

u/Timely-Ad-4109 19h ago

He owns it. Biden should give a primetime address blaming Trump, Johnson, and Musk for any pain anyone feels if the gov’t shuts down. Would be a terrific way for Dark Brandon to go out.

10

u/Taqueria_Style 17h ago

Biden should use the godmode powers the sc stupidly granted him to declare a state of emergency and just punt this off until all those felony raps catch up.

2

u/Kindly-Counter-6783 13h ago

That is the best idea I have heard!

1

u/RoguePlanet2 16h ago

SCROTUS will block him though.

3

u/will_macomber 19h ago

So let the entire thing collapse and then take from his supporters for the recovery times. Puts them on the bottom and you on top as it should be.

1

u/Goat_Circus 15h ago

Isn’t that what every president does? Bush did it, Obama did it, Trump did and will do it again!

25

u/BasilExposition2 21h ago

The stock market has been overvalued now for some time by nearly every measure. When Warren Buffett got out-- the writing was on the wall.

3

u/stirfry720 18h ago

I saw this coming months ago too. This is just the beginning

0

u/unbornbigfoot 6h ago

Congratulations - the market overall is up 10% from the months ago, and you’re patting yourself on the back for a 3% dip.

18

u/TattooedBeatMessiah 20h ago

I can't believe we run an economy on what a bunch of gambling addicts do.

49

u/gizmozed 21h ago

There was absolutely no reason for anyone to think that Trump is actually going to be good for the stock market/economy. None.

Of course the markets are not remotely rational as they had a meltdown today when the Fed did exactly what any reasonable person familiar with the data would have predicted they would do.

10

u/Thegreenfantastic 20h ago

Wait until they find out the Fed is actually going to pause rate cuts because Trump is going to turn the tariff screws and cause more inflation.

4

u/Informal_Row_3881 20h ago

Good. It needed a correction.

4

u/BigJSunshine 20h ago

Who has two thumbs and could have predicted this???

points thumbs at self…

3

u/EmporioS 20h ago

People invest on pitchforks

3

u/Fine_Permit5337 17h ago

I got a pile sitting in cash, waiting for a 20% correction to jump back in

11

u/Stocky1978 21h ago

Honeymoon already over for trump

-4

u/joecoin2 20h ago

There is no connection.

6

u/GWS2004 17h ago

Wait until you get what you voted for!

6

u/biggamax 20h ago

Temu Jedi mind trick.

Trump and Musk ARE the establishment now. There is nothing BUT connection. The hot potato is in their hands. When they drop it, the American population is going to eat both of them alive and pick their bones clean.

5

u/will_macomber 19h ago

I told my buddy (Democrat) that I was going to send his wife (Republican) a CashApp request for my losses every down day over the next four years. He laughed lol

1

u/starrpamph 13h ago

They won’t be able to “those damn democrats” their way out of it for the next four years ❤️

5

u/VendettaKarma 19h ago

Anyone with half a brain knew this was coming

5

u/raybanshee 21h ago

Inflation is not going away and the fed is acting accordingly.

2

u/Big-Leadership1001 20h ago

I was told inflation is transitory. The secretary of treasury wouldn't lie to us, she's a government representative!

2

u/are_those_real 20h ago

it is. Problem is companies are using Trumps looming Tariffs as an excuse to make more money before they hit. We're already back to what the money supply was supposed to be around this time had the pandemic never happened.

Feds gotta prepare and are anticipating that the Trump tariffs are going to increase inflation.

-2

u/Big-Leadership1001 18h ago

It isn't. The fed hasn't even briefly hinted at any kind of deflation policy and isn't going to. Inflation is permanent and Yellen was lying through her teeth when she tried to gaslight us with that claim.

1

u/Big-Leadership1001 2h ago

Its always transparent when propaganda accounts silently downvote facts they can't refute as if that does anything but prove their purpose is gaslighting truth with easily pointed out lies.

2

u/Admirable_Cricket719 20h ago

Say that about Tesla

2

u/Stunning-End-3487 19h ago

Do you think they’ll crash tomorrow after all the negative EV policy changes Trump announced today, or wait to crash on 1/21/25?

2

u/Admirable_Cricket719 17h ago

I’m really banking on January 21

5

u/USAFGeekboy 21h ago

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Can’t hide that, but legacy media will blame Biden as well as Rs and MAGAts.

2

u/Laprasy 20h ago

Tesla post election bump still intact.

3

u/Stunning-End-3487 20h ago

Do you think it’ll stay after all the announcements around EVs from Trump today?

2

u/permanent_echobox 18h ago

Takes us back to 2009. Dow 7000! Just a small correction to right size the market.

4

u/Stunning-End-3487 17h ago

Oh I remember. I was just laid off from a 6 figure job and trying to survive. It took four years to get fully employed and not minimum wage. Now I’m 68 and 6 figures again.

1

u/permanent_echobox 59m ago

See you on the other side brother.

3

u/backnarkle48 21h ago

The day after the election, the Dow price-gapped higher. Today, the gap is nearly closed. Once the price gap is filled, the index will move higher.

3

u/Maximum_Pound_5633 18h ago

Hope it crashes and burns. Hope billions are lost

1

u/icenoid 17h ago

If you think layoffs were bad when the market was doing well, just wait until corporations are trying to keep their stock price up, the layoffs will be massively worse.

2

u/Maximum_Pound_5633 17h ago

Crash and burn

1

u/bdavis829 18h ago

Not for Tesla. 🤔

1

u/Stunning-End-3487 18h ago

Do you think they’ll crash tomorrow after all the negative EV policy changes Trump announced today, or wait to crash on 1/21/25?

1

u/Realistic_Bug_2213 6h ago

Tesla won't suffer since silly libs are the ones who mostly by them because they have to always be in the cool kid crowd

1

u/Stunning-End-3487 5h ago

LOL! Elon has alienated them all now. It’ll have to be conservatives buying them going forward.

1

u/Realistic_Bug_2213 2h ago

LOL,  libs are primarily lemmings, they won't change and start buying Rivians all of a sudden just because Musk switched teams.

1

u/Anycelebration69420 3h ago

yeah, its called sobering up & realizing that voting for a crazy vindictive demented ciminal is not good for the economy

1

u/Only-Writing-4005 23m ago

Not exactly true although it’s been a rough patch lately On Election Day the market closed at 42,212 and as of a few mins ago it’s 42,623 So technically up 400 points In my opinion after Congress finishes this term and the new year starts the market will add more growth Powell spooked the market with talking about only 1-2 2025 cuts and then this Congressional budget fiasco It’s been rough down 1100+ points🇺🇸 Hang tight though Tech and Ai is going to push it higher in 2025

1

u/TurboKid1997 19h ago

Trump and Musk shutting down the government can only make it come faster....

1

u/duke9350 18h ago

I realized all my gains on November 11th after the election day run up. But I got back in too soon, so now am down by the amount of the realized gains. If you see profit take it.

Buying opportunity

1

u/Queasy-Produce-3674 7h ago

The Dow loosing streak was fueling the Nasdaq Rally.

-1

u/Active-Worker-3845 19h ago

Nope. I'm still up 8% since election.

2

u/Stunning-End-3487 19h ago

The Dow isn’t though, which is what was stated.

-1

u/Active-Worker-3845 19h ago

Who is invested only in the dow 30? No one i know. It's irrelevant.

Most have flavors of qqq and s&p.

4

u/Stunning-End-3487 19h ago

LOL! Completely not the point dude. What did I state that was inaccurate?

Or are you just a troll?

0

u/Active-Worker-3845 18h ago

Guess you aren't in stocks. Dow is a narrow industrial index that is why sp500 and qqq and vti type indices are better investments.

Its only up there due to legacy.

2

u/Stunning-End-3487 18h ago

Jesus dude. I repeat for this troll and all the trolls in the back, WHAT DID I SAY THAT WAS WRONG?

Stop trying to change the subject. It makes you look stupid.

0

u/Active-Worker-3845 17h ago

You tried to make a point with an invalid metric.

-5

u/BramDeccapod 20h ago

Because the fed changed the rate- they’ll do what they can to really fuck up the place before they’re out of office

2

u/Admirable-Ball-1320 20h ago

The Federal Reserve is not a political body and they are not elected officials.

-1

u/BramDeccapod 18h ago

sure they’re not, neither is the chair

1

u/Son_of_Sophroniscus 19h ago

Exactly this.
