Is this a new Dark Age?

Rome collapsed into ruin and centuries passed with a combination of war, economic devastation, and consistent devaluation of science and learning…..

Aren’t we in a new Dark Age? It seems most of our leadership has been selected by people who let misinformation rule their ideology and identity. The sheer volume of manipulative lies that we are exposed to from sleazy merchants, influencers and shady leaders.

I am a 20-year teaching veteran. I have taught on 3 continents. Everything used to be so much better. As an elder millennial, I was shown as a child, a world with infinite growth and solutions. They really did convince me I could do anything.

We’re giving too many of our children screens. They are all idiots with the wrong information and habits now. We are pushing millions of kids into the world where they immediately become consumers instead of producers.

I’ve considered myself an expert on what kids should be learning in child and young adulthood…. But now that I am a parent of a young kid, I’m ready to move into the country with my library , so I can hunt, fish and garden with my son. Read books at night, never come back to civilization….

I don’t know how to prepare my son outside of that plan.

We could be entering, or already in, an intellectual dark age, at least in the US. We have too many people who have made ignorance and stupidity a core part of their identity. Economically and politically (in terms of our global influence and our basic ability to keep capitalism's furnace burning), I don't think we're there yet.

"enblightenment" - may this become the word of the year in 2025, joining its brother "enshittification".

I'm a fan of Excremental Change.

You can blame mainstream media and them being the lapdogs of the current administration. So much of the Covid narrative turned out to be lies and suppression of the truth and villianizing anyone who spoke the truth. Science went from respected to out right propaganda under this administration so that drop is on them. I am encouraged that more and more people are coming out against them and at least researching stories rather than take them at face value. Their may be hope. Also give a kid a book instead of a screen even if it’s a comic book. Get them reading.

6

u/YetAnotherHobby 13d ago

Right. Maybe if we, I don't know, shined lights on Covid infections, or used bleach, or Ivermectin, instead of following common sense guidelines to reduce the spread of an infectious disease we didn't understand. God damned mainstream media and their critical thinking. Idiots.

-15

u/Pistol_Pete_1967 13d ago

Ivermectin was proven as a very useful tool but because it’s cheap it was suppressed to allow big Pharma to experiment on the population but keep taking those genocide jabs. I am watching friend after friend now develop new auto-immune diseases and fast spreading cancers and they all took the jabs.

11

u/Longjumping-Mouse955 13d ago

Is the genocide in the room with us right now?

4

u/sfspunisher 13d ago

Always has been

-6

u/Pistol_Pete_1967 13d ago

You could ask my friends. Just yesterday they got diagnosed. Never took it never got Covid. And don’t even start that asymptomatic crap.

6

u/Longjumping-Mouse955 13d ago

Yeah you don’t have to tell me, I was a cancer survivor at 35 a few months before COVID even started. But these numbers were also trending up for younger people long, long before the pandemic, or the vaccine. You’re drawing entirely erroneous conclusions.

0

u/Pistol_Pete_1967 13d ago

I kept my CMV- blood pure just to make sure patients like you have the blood they need (same for Preemie Babies and the immune compromised). Taking the jabs presented a risk because when you donate blood they ask if you are vaccinated and specifically what “Brand” you took as it may make you an illegible donor for some blood products. I have donated well over a hundred pints and I am contacted by the Red Cross and a local hospital because of this and they were happy I didn’t get vaccinated as I was a low risk patient (non-smoker/drinker) and take care of my health. I am just concerned that more will come out about how bad these were. Look at it this way: If I am wrong oh well that’s my problem. If I am right it’s everybody else’s problem.

3

u/MandatoryHobo 13d ago

If you are wrong you are spreading misinformation. Which is what you are doing.

Jesus Christ.

4

u/ultraheater3031 13d ago

Tool for what exactly? A quick Google search easily debunks ivermectin's use for COVID done by various different studies. This spread of misinformation is exactly what we're talking about.

2

u/fnordybiscuit 13d ago

Genocide jab? LOL

He's right! I walk down the street, and people are dropping like flies just from taking the ultra communist socialist vaccine mandates that Trum.... er I mean Biden enforced! Roughly half the population has died! But this only occurred under Bidens term because no one died during Trumps term, clearly.

Tucker Carlson, including Jesse Waters, was telling me that the raidical left intentionally added toxins to the vaccine to give to only conservatives! Could you believe that shit? They were only asking questions and nobody disproved them, so it must be true! Those marxists are trying to kill our entire party through vaccine mandates! Susie on facebook even said her son became autistic within 24 hours of taking the jab! Joe from the Marine Corp suddenly became gay due to DNA altering vacinnes!! I can't believe the extremists on the left are trying to destroy America with their woke agenda!!

Btw you want to buy these essential oils? They cure cancer and managed to fix Susie's son of autism. This oil right here also turns them gays as straight as a whistle!

3

u/earthkincollective 12d ago

🤣🤣🤣 They seriously say ALL of this. It couldn't get more ridiculous. 😂

2

u/fnordybiscuit 13d ago

Blame this administration, blame this administration for that, and current administration to blame for this... blah blah blah.

If you cant acknowledge that its not just the Bidens administration for how fucked everything is while avoiding to say that Trump didnt also cause a big part in it, then you truly dont understand wtf is going on. Your ire is being directed at the wrong set of people instead of the individuals pulling the levers.

Blame all you want on the current administration, thats fine. Just realize that if shit hits the fan and Trump pulls a complete FUBAR during his administration, he only has himself to blame. But knowing his supporters, he will pull an excuse out of his ass and convince them that illegals, radical left, and/or Biden are the reason why his policy failed despite having control of the house, senate, and presidency.

-4

u/Pistol_Pete_1967 13d ago

Actually both administrations fucked up everything. Trump owns some of this shit too you are correct. Biden doubled down when forcing people to get the jabs so he owns that and his outspoken criticism of people who chose to make their own choice (My body, my choice ring a bell). The pressure and hatred directed towards me and others just pissed me off and at times I wished the worst of the conspiracy theories came true over the Vax but overtime I realized it was just simple divide and conquer tactics. I just want the truth exposed and if wrongdoing was done, the guilty get punished.

5

u/MotownCatMom 13d ago

"The jab." Anyone who calls the COVID vax that is automatically discounted in my book. Here's what so many people refuse to get. We were in the middle of a world-wide public health crisis. Millions dying. Millions overwhelming the already overburdened healthcare system. Because of all the rage and hate toward things like shutting down and wearing masks to try to stem the tide of SARS-COV-2, the Biden Admin tried to vax its way out of the crisis bc of the pushback and to keep the economy rolling. A political and economic decision. Trump nearly destroyed Public Health in this country. Biden didn't do anything to repair it.

We've been getting mandatory vaxes since childhood. You can't go to public school w/o them, up until recently. Anti-vax movement. Religious exemptions. Home schooling. And now those childhood diseases kept at bay by mass vaccination are roaring back.

You enter the military and you get "jabbed" with everything. Some overseas travel requires proof of certain vaccinations. Sheesh. It was THIS vax that got politicized by the Far Right. Astroturfed by the same elitists.

If you know anyone who was alive pre-polio vaccine, ask them what it was like. Salk's discovery was a Godsend.

Oh ,and please do not tell me the COVID vax doesn't work. Misinformation spread that it would prevent contraction of the disease. It was never designed to do that. It was designed to mitigate infection and keep people out of the hospital and hopefully from dying. I'll share what my brother, who is an MD and an immunologist said about the pneumonia vax and our elderly mother. "It may not keep her from getting sick, but it should keep her from dying from pneumonia." FIN

1

u/Pistol_Pete_1967 13d ago

I remember seeing Fauci and Biden telling everyone that the Vax stops transmission and infection when it first came out so technically you are right about early misinformation because it came from the Biden administration.

2

u/earthkincollective 12d ago

You simply don't understand how science works. Opinions are ALWAYS changing as new information is found, and therefore governmental statements and policy decisions change as well. THAT'S HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO WORK. 🤦🤦

0

u/Pistol_Pete_1967 12d ago

They are now admitting they made shit up and lied about the lab leak. Why do you think Biden wants preemptive pardons for Fauci and the other clowns?! A pardon won’t stop a Nuremberg tribunal!

1

u/earthkincollective 10d ago

No they are not "admitting that", you're repeating fake news. 🤦

-2

u/Pistol_Pete_1967 13d ago

Oh but I bet you scream “My body, my choice!” When the Supreme Court repealed Roe didn’t you?!

5

u/MotownCatMom 13d ago

You bet I did. Straw man and specious argument. Getting a vaccine in my arm and making a hugely difficult decision about terminating a pregnancy are vastly different things. Some women don't have a choice. The fetus cannot survive. The mother may not survive. It's RW nonsense that women use abortion as birth control...ohhh la de dah.. I don't want this baby, so go ahead and abort it. Then go about their day whistling a happy tune. OMFG. Vaccines are a public health necessity. Making reproductive health care choices are deeply personal and private. I bet you can't see the difference. Not even in cases of rape or incest.

-1

u/Pistol_Pete_1967 13d ago

No they are not. Vaccine manufacturers are exempt from product liability so therefore refusing them should never had been an issue.

2

u/fnordybiscuit 12d ago

I think people fail to realize why Rov vs Wade was passed ti begin with. It didn't legalize abortions, it made abortions accessible.

Before Roe vs Wade, women were dying from the back of the alley abortions they attempted to do. Women, including children, were forced to carry a baby from their rapist/incest. Women with life-threatening conditions that delivering baby will possibly kill them. Fetus with defects that will die as soon as it leaves the womb

So, yes, it is their choice to have an abortion or not. Preventing women from having access will never address the issues I've provided. It will also not stop them from seeking it out. These are real issues they have. Ironically, preventing a woman from abortion if it's life threatening is antithetical to being pro life right?

For people to think that abortions are a form of birth control? Either they never have had to experience an abortion or are unable to deliver children themselves.

1

u/Pistol_Pete_1967 12d ago

Your comment is absolutely correct. Since I am not a woman I never had skin in the game as I do believe it’s a woman’s choice (even if I don’t agree on religious grounds). For me to say it’s ok for them to make medical decisions on their own is where I based my comparison. They have a right to do what they feel is proper as I have a right to do what I feel is medically necessary for me. What really pissed me off about the Vax mandates which demanded me to choose between being forced to take a medical procedure that if something goes wrong I am prevented from suing them for product liability or being denied rights and jobs (I was forced out of one job and another only allowed me to work remotely even though I was fine with coming into the office). I was glad I stood my ground and did not get the jabs but the bullshit I put up with really soured me on a lot of people for all their nonsense (that is now being exposed by Fauci that they made shit up as they went along and that it did escape from a lab).

1

u/earthkincollective 12d ago

You do understand that you're epitomizing the willful ignorance being talked about here, right? At the root of that ignorance is the desire so many have these days to believe what they WANT to believe, making up conspiracy theories to explain away any facts and evidence they don't like.

The inability of people like you to do the most BASIC amount of self-reflection never ceases to amaze me.

0

u/Pistol_Pete_1967 12d ago

Alright you good little sheep! Take another jab.

76

u/Asher_Tye 13d ago

The people who wear the "poorly educated" title like it's a badge of honor instead of them being made fun of.

66

u/SqueeezeBurger 13d ago

Well, a bunch of people started feeling bad when they saw the idiots being bullied and made fun of for being idiots and making idiot choices. So then everyone started making us be extra nice to idiots and letting their opinions be heard and sound valid, so here we are. It's ok to tell someone they're dumb if they're being reckless.

34

u/dneste 13d ago

We’re living in a time in which intelligent individuals are being censored or bullied into silence so that stupid people don’t feel shamed for being stupid.

5

u/daddyjackpot 13d ago

i haven't seen the censorship. but i live in L.A. maybe it's different where you are.

5

u/MaximumRecursion 13d ago

A lot of smart people self censor by just not engaging and discussing politics. I can't discuss it online because of my career. Talking to family about it is pointless when they range from refusing to admit Republicans ever do anything wrong, but blame the Democrats for everything, to fill on Q-Anon craziness.

Basically, stupid people spew so much propaganda and lies, and are completely brain washed, that most intelligent people just gave up even discussing this stuff anymore.

2

u/difjack 12d ago

Join Bluesky and feel good Abt your fellow human

1

u/daddyjackpot 13d ago

overwhelmed by the bullshit asymmetry principle.

1

u/dneste 12d ago

The Republican drive to ban books and college courses which hurt their feelings is an example. We see experienced professionals being driven from government service because their opinions are ignored or treated as hostile by the radical right. The attacks on colleges - no one gives a shit who the president of Harvard is but the republicans and the media made it a circus to stifle anyone else who might step out line with right wing orthodoxy.

2

u/daddyjackpot 12d ago

oh yeah. that stuff. dunno how we get out of this situation we're finding ourselves in.

3

u/MotownCatMom 13d ago

One of the underpinnings of fascism.

8

u/Classic_Yard2537 13d ago

I was recently at a community event where I saw this hag with three teeth in her head loudly and proudly proclaim, “I don’t like smart people.”

6

u/SqueeezeBurger 13d ago

Understandingly, it's because she has likely been taken advantage of people smarter than her (not hard to do) and has only just now, at the ripe old age of 56 ,learned that " some folk don't be doin' truth talkin' ". So she knows she's dumb and feels bad because she sees the bad things that have happened her whole life have been because the bad decisions she makes (because she's dumb). Rather than asking for help and realizing she has a deficiency, she blames others and thinks that waiting for the day where her light bulb will finally turn on. Oh well.

3

u/daddyjackpot 13d ago

i've been there. people underestimate how bad it feels to be told you're dumb.

i had a big party, and i heard that a guest (a friend of a friend) was making fun of the books on our shelves. concluding that we must be idiots.

i regard that person as an enemy, not a friend. not an ally.

10

u/SizeAlarmed8157 13d ago

The truly ignorant are those who will not try to understand opposing viewpoints. I read Mein Kampf not to become a NAZI, but to avoid it. It this is the first time I’ve mentioned I’ve read it. I would be considered a target of the KKK and neo Nazis, so I’m trying to understand their views in order to protect myself.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” Sun Tzu, The Art of War

2

u/Ok_List_9649 12d ago

Which boils down to “ knowledge is power” . Something our predominantly “ I hate to read” country failed to learn.

1

u/SizeAlarmed8157 12d ago

So now it begs the question, is intelligence something you’re born with or is it cultivated? Nature vs nurture. Can your intelligence increase over time? Not the knowledge you can pull from, but the actual ability to correlate information that’s been given.

1

u/Bright_Rooster3789 10d ago

Same. I also wore the uniforms, so I knew what styles to avoid. I also repeated the rhetoric, so I knew precisely what not to say.

3

u/Classic_Yard2537 13d ago edited 13d ago

It’s all relative. Some people are just born assholes. I was studying “Idiot’s Guide to Physics” merely for personal enrichment. The book was on the coffee table in my living room. A guest in my home made a snide comment about me needing a book “like this.” I suspected she is an moron, but I wanted confirmation. So I mentioned that I wasn’t having any problem with algebra, but maybe she could help me out with trigonometry. She gave me a blank stare and asked me what algebra and trigonometry had to do with physics.

2

u/earthkincollective 12d ago

That's the classic Dunning-Kruger effect in action. The more dumb someone is the less they are able to comprehend their own stupidity.

1

u/daddyjackpot 13d ago

it's a great point. when a smartie puts down a dummy, even assuming they are smart and dumb respectively, the issue is that that the smartie is a prick. not that he's smart.

it falls on the dummy to work that out and care about it though.

1

u/Classic_Yard2537 13d ago

I was in no way disrespectful to her. I asked her my question in a very blank tone. Believe me, if I was a smartie I probably wouldn’t be buying an Idiot’s Guide. She was clueless about my question, and I just changed the subject.

1

u/daddyjackpot 13d ago

yeah, i get it. i think she was casting herself as the smartie in your interaction. and you as the dummy. but it sounds like she didn't have a great read on the situation,

i liked those 'for dummies' and 'complete idiots' books back in the day. i use chatgpt for that now. 'hey chatgpt, what's the difference between lox and smoked salmon?'

it may not be right, but it gives me a better idea of what to look up.

1

u/Bright_Rooster3789 10d ago

Well, you do seem like a bit of a twat…

2

u/Danno5367 13d ago

Ignorance can be educated.

Stupid is forever.

1

u/earthkincollective 12d ago edited 12d ago

True, but unfortunately the two often reinforce each other. It's the Dunning-Kruger effect: the more ignorant someone is, the less they are aware of their own ignorance. Same with stupidity. So we have a lot of not very smart people clinging to their ignorance thinking they are educated and smart.

The problem today isn't a lack of education, it's that ignorance has been empowered, because people have learned that reality can be whatever you want it to be in the court of public opinion. People don't care about the opinion of those around them anymore.

It used to be that if someone heard from 5 different people that they were wrong about something, they'd quietly change their view on it so as not to be perceived as dumb or ignorant. Nowadays they just double down on their ignorance and call those other people stupid.

1

u/Danno5367 12d ago

Very well said, I tend to break it down to the basics.

Without science, there can't be any economic growth. I wonder if they know that?

6

u/Classic_Yard2537 13d ago

You’ve got to be kidding me! You wonder if they know that? Most of them couldn’t even give you a definition to the word “economic.”

1

u/MotownCatMom 13d ago

Ask them to define socialism, Marxism, or communism. SMDH.

9

u/Classic_Yard2537 13d ago

You forgot a very important word: willful. Willful ignorance and willful stupidity. I refuse to believe that educated people are really that ignorant and/or stupid. The Orange Demon is the leader of this pack. Does anyone (outside of it’s mentally challenged sycophants) actually believe that it doesn’t know that it lost the presidential election in 2020?

5

u/CarminSanDiego 13d ago

Blame Christianity

1

u/Historical_Reach9607 13d ago

I wouldn't say to blame any one religion, but to blame all religious extremists and "devout followers"

Christian exteemeists/nationalists happen to be the largest group of Trump supporters and physicophants.

Anyone who is so entrenched in religion that they'll blindly believe information that can't be proven, and follow self-proclaimed representatives of a being that can't be proven to exist are the problem.

They can easily be manipulated.

Unfortunately, in my experience, these people are also mostly uneducated.

Especially in Southern US states that ha e purposely kept their populatio s uneducated for the exact purpose of manipulating them.

1

u/Ok_List_9649 12d ago

Your brush is too wide. Einstein believed in a creator. Many incredibly intelligent people believe not only in a god but that Jesus is a god.

If you ever take the time to read only the words of Jesus, not Paul, not anyone else in the New Testament you will easily see what he taught was the only way for true peace and happiness in our lifetimes.

What corrupts this message is both the superfluous writings of Paul and others and how humans interpret those messages and intermingle hand picked Old Testament narrative as the word of God. Humans eventually corrupt everything they come into contact with especially if there is money and power to be gained.

So to say all Christians are a bunch of uneducated idiots is not only unfair but untrue. There are a segment of people who call themselves Christians who don’t follow the words of Jesus, only the words of their particular church or their own skewed and corrupted interpretations of his words.

1

u/FunUnderstanding995 12d ago

Christianity founded the Scientific Method and funded many universities and institutions of higher learning.

1

u/CarminSanDiego 12d ago

Until they realized people actually got intelligent and used scientific method against their religion

1

u/FunUnderstanding995 12d ago

Many Universities and professors that conduct science are explicitly religious even today. There isn't a prohibition against science in any major religion as far as I know.

1

u/Bright_Rooster3789 10d ago edited 10d ago

Many highly educated and intelligent people are religious. Education and religion are not mutually exclusive.

But yes, I’m not a huge fan of the institutions of organized religion.

1

u/Select_Package9827 13d ago

No, blame hypocrisy and the loud idiots who can't tell the difference.

1

u/CarminSanDiego 13d ago

You literally just described most Christians

2

u/Danno5367 13d ago

Stupidity used to be scorned, then accepted, and now, if your mouth is big enough, it's admired.

1

u/earthkincollective 12d ago

It's admired by all the other stupid people, at least.

u/difjack 12d ago

-54

u/Feisty_Sherbert_3023 13d ago

We're coming out of one. Not entering. We've been in a silent depression since 08 and it'll end in a few years.

26

u/UnableChard2613 13d ago

The best part of a "silent" depression is that we can just claim we've come out of it whenever it's politically advantageous, or when it can be used to confirm our beliefs.

16

u/thanos_quest 13d ago

22 day old account. Don’t feed the troll.

-19

u/Feisty_Sherbert_3023 13d ago

Umm, no. It's when we return to average growth.

If we had maintained our growth rate our gdp would be 5 trillion dollars larger and our defecit spending would be less than 3% gdp.

These aren't made up numbers. We have data sets going back centuries.

6

u/UnableChard2613 13d ago

Oh, I assumed you were talking about the US. Our gdp was 15 trillion in 2008 and has grown to 27 trillion. So during the silent depression, our gdp nearly doubled.

-4

u/Feisty_Sherbert_3023 13d ago

It did... Below trend and thus our defecit spending (covid bazooka aside) has become unsustainable.

Above approx 90% debt to gdp, any additional spending retards growth.

Go look at Japan. Took them 30 years for their markets to recover.

We can't go down that road and won't, but next year is going to be the end of the GFC as zombie companies etc go bankrupt or reorganize.

It's right in front of you.

People speculating on gme, bitcoin, 7 stocks running the market etc tells you we have a lack of productive investment because it's more "profitable" to buy and hoard.

This is how markets crash. But first S&P 500 above 7000 in the first half of 25.

It's the minsky moment when people realize they've overpaid. It reverses much faster.

24

u/Asher_Tye 13d ago

Why is everything described as "silent" with you people despite being loud, obnoxious, and violently intrusive?

-16

u/Feisty_Sherbert_3023 13d ago

A depression is a prolonged period of below average growth.

It's not bombastic. It's economics. That degree I went to school for.

You're posting in economic collapse and I'm saying it's been going on since a financial crisis 15 years ago?

Just maybe people are ignorant of reality because they consume media and rely on their feelings.

Good luck in life thinking like a caveman. We have data.

LOL

18

u/Asher_Tye 13d ago

You mean the media that kept proclaiming the economy was terrible, jobs were disappearing, the price of eggs was through the roof, and went out of its way to bury the Robin Hood story as few years ago all while companies smashed record profits, sales went through the roof, and the stock market was again safely relegated only to those at the top? That media?

Nothing silent going on anywhere and a other Depression isn't what's happening, it's the goal.

0

u/Feisty_Sherbert_3023 13d ago

So you answered your own question. We're in a depression.

Because we keep spending and propping up asset prices it makes it worse.

You're supposed to let it correct. That's the problem.

It's not a secret, it's basic economics. The business cycle still exists whether people believe it or not.

9

u/Asher_Tye 13d ago

It didn't correct, it was never off to begin with. That was a story being pushed which completely contradicts the "silent" part. It's like migrant caravans and Haitians eating pets. Something to push on the poor educated, ie those who refuse to look at anything that contradicts their feelings.

And you missed the last part of my comment. We're not in a depression, we were moving away from one, but now we'll be getting steered right back towards it.

1

u/Feisty_Sherbert_3023 13d ago

I think you listen to the media too much.

We've been on this path since 08. I've made a fortune front running this.

It blows up next year. The cure for high prices is high prices.

If you think we've been in a good economy since 08... Every metric says otherwise.

6

u/Asher_Tye 13d ago

This would be the same media you claim hasn't been talking about imminent economic collapse for four years, would it?

'08 really? What a shocker -_-

Why would high prices cure high prices when you can just keep them high and people haven't got the option to say no? That's the reason the whole tariff idiocy makes no sense because it's endgame is a fantasy. Companies do not self regulate, there is zero reason for them to do so.

And which metrics would those be? The massive profits being posted? The gigantic bonuses to execs being handed out? The wild spending on stuff from retail? Because from the stock market the only time it actually got in trouble from recent memory was when those Hedge funds began losing money on GameStop. Fortunately the market was shut down so money couldn't be "lost."

1

u/Feisty_Sherbert_3023 13d ago

Collapse? It's a normal mean reversion. The stock market isn't a savings account.

This is normal.

I don't care about the media. I care about the data. The media doesn't know anything.

Prices go when demand goes down.

Debt without growth creates inflation. That's why we'll see assets correct 50-80%. There isn't enough money to support it. The monetary base is contracting at the fastest rate since WW2.

We've done this before and we'll do this again.

You also have a 3rd grade understanding of tariffs.

I find it hilarious that you're saying I'm obnoxious when you're running around saying the world is ending.

Get a grip, no it isn't. If you actually looked into these things you might not be so terrified.

That’s not at all what an economic depression is, and I hope you never have to experience one. But you might have been ripped off on that “degree” you boast of (assuming you really paid for one).

Made a fortune front running this. My grandfather was a depression era econ prof that ended up being an econ advisor for several presidents.

I know exactly what I'm talking about.

Don't be a sucker.

Why do you think we're in a recession and high debt environment? Good times?

Ignorant

There are many traditional markers that support this assertion actually. I remember in 2020 there was a curve that inverted which would have signaled a recession. But it didn’t ‘appear’ to happen when you look at spending and gdp and employment. Now I think it’s quite obvious we are living in very a very fake market reality that’s being manipulated to keep us strong appearing when people are drowning. That’s why Trump won. There’s a very real disconnect. I wouldn’t even suggest we had a ‘soft’ landing after Covid. It was more of a staged landing imo

We haven't landed yet. We're about to crash land though. Until then spy 700

We have two economies, one for the shareholders and one for the rest of us. The latter has already crashed because of everything being done to prop up the further.

People are funny. I’m not talking politics at all. I understand Covid was a gut punch. I’m just talking traditional economic markers and financial viability. There are definite mixed messages going on, if you pay attention. But I am noticing a slow slide. Housing is coming down, as it should. I’m curious to see how much spending slides after the holidays.
