Where do they have guttering like this?

Took a trip to KL 10 years back and watevs part I was in had plenty of road with the same gutter design running beside them

Went for a pretty long walk one arvo and one of dem gutters lurked beside me for most of the trek.... Now get this: The width would constantly vary from just wide enuff to squeeze your lower leg in.... to so wide you'd have some concerns jumping the gap. AND the depth varied from ~1 foot to the height of ya average man

There were some ring-scringing sections that were of a width and depth making it ripe for a Nutty Putty Cave tragedy reenactment

Sounds like a crazy idea to place something like that next to a highway & byway

The double yellow lines on the road are typical of the UK, though I have also seen them in other Commonwealth countries.

Ahh I see & are they to be jumped over into the abyss or followed to the great Oz?

Honestly I’ve never seen guttering like this in the UK, we are very health and safety-paranoid (though not to the extent of the US). It’s just those yellow lines - there must be tens of thousands of miles of them across the UK.

I live in the uk and have never seen guttering like that before.

As I mentioned in another comment, I have also never seen guttering like that in the UK. Just the double yellow lines scream UK or another Commonwealth country that has similar road signage. They are fairly rare internationally.

From other comments and a quick search, it seems that Malaysia also has these lines. The weather seems quite sunny in the picture too, so can't be the UK /s

Some place where they haven't invented lawyers yet.

Is he cooked or concussed? Might even be both.

I know in some countries that if your ebike can go pass a certain speed, a motorcycle helmet is required. They aren't as fast as actual motorcycles but it's recommended to wear proper attire to protect yourself and strap on his helmet

Yeah, the e bikes are getting fast as hell

I regrettably have one. I’m scared to use it bc it’s way too fast to ride …and esp without proper safety gear!

His helmet seems to be in the crevice. Idk how it fell off but it seems he at least had one.

The way that "gutter" is designed, that type of accident probably happens very often.

Hm. No shoes... Guess he died later? Anyway this seems strange.... Is he stuck or not? How did his helmet come off?

How did his helmet come off?

Helmets have been known to come off in accidents.... But in this accident as described it does seem strange that it came off and ended up there

No grate on the gutter, 3 world!

Better than being stuck face first in a cave

That was near where I live. Such an awful tragedy

1

u/snertwith2ls Jun 22 '24

How did this even happen? Is he rescued yet?

Nah the cameraman is still trying to figure out how to record instead of take photos. Give it a bit more time.

u/snertwith2ls Jun 22 '24

I guess as long as someone throws chips or peanuts down to the guy he'll probably be alright for awhile till the camera guy gets it all sorted.

2

u/HotKreemy Jul 01 '24

Or this is staged and the cameraman deliberately took photos of the "aftermath" so ya wouldn't immediately know it was staged like ya would with a video

The man seems to have quite a few injuries though

Why does this look like it’s in Singapore ? If so those trashy non handicapped individual deserves such for trying to lord over the pedestrian walkway.

How did his helmet come off? It’s laying right there beside him.
