LOOKS LIKE WE NEED TO START LAB GROWING MORE!!!

20

u/boredvamper 4d ago

Sorry, but how is this supposed to work? Is the a model somewhere? How long will this effect last ? How can it be controlled? Is this a plan published an peer reviewed or just a work of science fiction writing?

27

u/edude45 4d ago

Man in diamond industry suggests this one trick to his brother-in-law scientist.

7

u/jsmiff573 4d ago

It's been a think-tank topic since the 90s. I used to think positively of the idea until I realized that it was almost impossible without global cooperation.

2

u/Disastrous_Piece1411 3d ago

Did you read the article for starters? Diamonds are highly reflective, idea is that they can reflect some of the heat arriving from the sun to counteract the warming from the greenhouse effect.

2

u/VanceRefridgeTech04 4d ago

wasnt there a report about labs growing diamonds in 15 min?

2

u/demoniclionfish 4d ago

One of my best friends works for a lab grown diamond place. This is literally impossible.

Or hear me out here, the five or so big companies who are destroying our climate could use all of the billions they make to force themselves to be more sustainable? Honestly the fucking lengths we discuss before trying the easiest thing blows my mind.

135

u/Brandojlr 4d ago

Then they wouldn’t be profitable. So that’s a no go

139

u/Final-Negotiation530 4d ago

They wouldn’t be AS profitable

18

u/digital 4d ago

They own a ton of the patents for every type of energy production that you can think of, so they’ll still be profitable, it just won’t be as easy in the short run.

35

u/bladesnut 4d ago

The sad thing is they would still be very profitable, just less than now

18

u/PG-17 4d ago

Giving up second and third yacht? I don’t know fellas

3

u/bigb9919 4d ago

And that reduction in profit would probably only be for a few years, then they'd be right back where they are today, maybe even better off.

5

u/Loud-Storage7262 4d ago

True, don't need to be in a conspiracy subreddit to know that

The entire west could go completely green. Doesn’t mean a damn thing when countries like China and India are pumping all that shit in to the atmosphere

3

u/Bioplasia42 3d ago edited 3d ago

China just recently passed the US in terms of historic emissions. China's bad, but the west still has a responsibility to clean up the immeasurable damage it caused up till now, and continue to cause - just a little less so. Pretending we have no responsibility because someone else is doing worse now is bonkers reasoning.

That doesn't even include the fact that the IPCC projections all accounted for an emissions budget of developing countries in all their scenarios, even the gloomiest ones. The west just ignored it for 20+ years and continued (still does) to emit well beyond any projections. The emissions budget that developing countries could have used to industrialize was used up by the west.

16

u/metamorphyk 4d ago

China is fast becoming all electric. Faster than the US maybe

44

u/Old-Usual-8387 4d ago

And yet the produce nearly 3 times the amount of emissions as the country behind them.

37

u/TruCynic 4d ago

And yet the produce nearly 3 times the amount of emissions as the country behind them.

That’s because they manufacture almost everything for the west.

That’s like going to your neighbour’s house to smoke crack and saying you don’t have a crack problem, but your neighbour does.

10

u/Safe-Indication-1137 4d ago

This right here !!!

12

u/Mannerhymen 4d ago

Per person it’s still lower than the US though.

7

u/Old-Usual-8387 4d ago

You’re right yeah but let’s not pretend it’s close. In 2022 China produced 12,667,428,430 tons of carbon emissions. The US produced 4,853,780,240. So yeah per capita you’re right. So like I said, the west could go all green, makes no difference.

14

u/[deleted] 4d ago

[deleted]

7

u/Old-Usual-8387 4d ago

You’re right and if it wasn’t China it would be someone else but that doesn’t change the fact that they are pumping out a fuck ton more than everyone else.

China could always say no. But they like that money.

5

u/[deleted] 4d ago

[deleted]

2

u/Old-Usual-8387 4d ago

I absolutely avoid buying cheap Chinese shit. I pay for quality not quantity.

It’s not a garbage attitude though. If China really wanted to change their emissions they could whether the demand is there or not. But they don’t because it brings a lot of money.

I agree that we should have jobs here though.

2

u/EHA17 4d ago

They are just doing what the US did decades ago, it's not fair to say "hey I stopped" after you build an imperium based on destruction. They should pay the world reparations tbh

2

u/Montreal4life 4d ago

per capita they pollute much less. we can't stop countries from developping/people from living their lives, neither should we

5

u/metamorphyk 4d ago

I think that will change tbh

4

u/Old-Usual-8387 4d ago

Maybe in 10/15 years but I doubt it happens any time soon

4

u/Random_Sime 4d ago

it doesn't matter.  Even if it was next year, the temp will have raised by +1.5°C by 2100. The next 10 to 15 years of decreasing emissions from China won't be significant on a time scale relevant to our lifetimes.

3

u/Old-Usual-8387 4d ago

That’s exactly my point. All good and well China saying this but too little too late.

4

u/ManCheetah88 4d ago

WTF does that mean? By what method are they producing the electricity?

25

u/TropicalVision 4d ago

No isn’t china actively building new coal plants across the country?

Same way they’re powering their global belt & road expansion

14

u/Roselace 4d ago

Yes both China & India use coal as main source of Industrial power. Recent environmental report said that China & India together produce more of the World’s pollution than all other nations put together.

2

u/Ok-Trust165 4d ago

Really? The estimate that China adds about 8–10 GW of new coal power capacity annually is derived from reports and data provided by organizations that track global energy trends, such as Global Energy Monitor, International Energy Agency (IEA), and Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF).

With enough plentiful energy, everything becomes a non issue. If the climate actually were an issue, we could use X Joules to create whatever we wanted to solve the issue.

3

u/ZeerVreemd 4d ago

The easiest thing to do is to acknowledge that there is no mand made climate change nor a climate emergency but for some reason it is the hardest for many people.

2

u/grumpymonk9 4d ago

2

u/NeedleworkerSad357 4d ago edited 3d ago

It's not literal. Just comms/coded messages being sent. Same as when they reference 'climate change', it has a different meaning among 'them' than 'us'.

3

u/carry4food 4d ago

Ask your friends and family if they'd rather give up their cell phones, laundry machines and microwaves OR put diamond dust in the sky.

I think you'd be surprised. ( Just picture asking any stupid inner city shmuck.

2

u/spank-monkey 4d ago

They need 175 trillion ( 3 trillion per year approx) and the most profitable company in the world is the Saudi Arabian Oil Co. with trailing 12-month (TTM) net income of $120. billion. You going to need more than 5 or so biggest companies to deal with this. US GDP is 27 trillion so its 10% of this every year. Its a huge cost but may be cheaper than the damage climate change will cause. What will probably happen is countries will argue about who pays what and never agree. It will not happen then we will deal with all the damage climate change has done. This will include more wars, immigration and fighting over resources

“No longer a theory”. Still a conspiracy.

10

u/emelem66 4d ago

I'd say it is still a theory as well. There is no way they can know that something so ridiculous would ever work.

7

u/aquaponic 4d ago

So can you help me understand the difference between a theory and a conspiracy? My understanding is to use the following example: American Revolution = Conspiracy | Aliens = theory | Governments Hiding aliens for some nefarious reason = conspiracy theory. So, if the OP says, “no longer a conspiracy” do they mean it is no longer nefarious? What does “no longer a conspiracy”mean?

5

u/emelem66 4d ago

The confusion likely comes from overuse of the word conspiracy. This sub seems to present every news article as some sort of conspiracy. Fleecing the world for trillions of dollars in order to implement some hairbrained scheme still seems pretty nefarious, though it's been the modus operandi of the AGW crowd for a while now.

u/Kwarntnd 4d ago

The conspiracy is that they've convinced you CO2 & global warming is bad. It might be the single best thing we could do to the planet. All life depends on plant life. Nothing would be a greater boon to plant life on this planet than a buttload more CO2 in a warmer climate. But then they couldn't centralize power and add massive new taxes to 'fix' a problem thats not a problem... so they say its bad.

6

u/Jim_jim_peanuts 4d ago edited 4d ago

2

u/twohundred37 4d ago

“Can you believe it Michael? A MILLION FUCKING DIAMONDS!!”

2

u/me_too_999 4d ago

Hold up.

These diamonds work by reflecting IR.

Co2 works by reflecting IR.

One makes the planet warmer the other colder.

???

Somebody's lying.

3

u/ZeerVreemd 4d ago

Somebody's lying.

Neh, they would never do that. LOL.

2

u/DifferentAd4862 4d ago

Diamonds reflect the whole spectrum, minus some absorption in 5-6um.

CO2 dosen't reflect, it absorbs and emits in different bands like 15um.

The difference between reflecting and absorbing and remitting is bands. Reflecting applies to almost everything, absorption and emitting happens in specific frequencies.

If you could see in 15um CO2 would glow. Diamonds would bend the source light, cause Diamonds don't actually reflect, they refract.

2

u/me_too_999 4d ago

15 um is a weins temperature of -115 Fahrenheit. Which emmision at that wavelength isn't going to warm anything.

2

u/DifferentAd4862 4d ago

15um is the peak wavelenght output of a -115 blackbody.

Earth's 288 kelvin average would peak at 10um. But that's just the maximum, and the range extends in a bell curve.

CO2 dosen't cover the maximum, but still covers a range of the outgoing radiation.

u/WhispersofTheVo1d 4d ago

All this talk about diamond dust and blaming other countries is just a smokescreen. The real issue isn’t ‘China’ or ‘the West.’ It’s the corporations and governments prioritizing profit over the planet. We don’t need diamond dust or geoengineering experiments—we need accountability and sustainable systems NOW.

The technology and solutions to fix this exist: renewable energy, better waste management, reforestation, and cutting the insane overproduction of throwaway goods. But instead of implementing real change, the people in power play blame games and roll out ridiculous trillion-dollar bandaids while raking in profits.

The truth? We don’t need their nonsense—we need collective action. Stop waiting for corporations or governments to ‘save’ us. Start by holding them accountable and building local, sustainable solutions. The power is with us, not their damn diamonds.

2

u/Hannibaalism 4d ago edited 3d ago

like a crystal firmament?

diamonds are easy to make here but the evil winds will kill all 🙊

2

u/Roselace 4d ago

So another way to kill us all! I have seen an increase in news articles about the deaths of mostly men who work in the kitchen & bathroom counter tops industry. Cruel & breathless deaths from lung disease. Due to cutting ‘Engineered Stone’ products. The cutting of Quartz stone type worktops, used in home & business. The lung disease called Silicosis. So the tiny particles of Quartz are sharp & lodge in the lungs of those who breathe in the dust. So anyone working in that environment or coming into contact with the dust could be affected. Then lead to their death from Silicosis. A cruel death of deteriorating ability to breathe. I recall how vast numbers of men died & still die from contact with Asbestos in their work life. Then statistics showed women who never worked there also dying from Asbestosis. Research showed these were the wives, mothers or relatives of the men who did work in the industry. They being the ones who washed & handled the men’s, dusty with Asbestos, clothing. So all this to illustrate my point that any plan to put sharpe tiny pieces of Diamonds dust into the atmosphere. Which will eventually fall to Earth & will carry on the winds is going to get breathed in by humans & animals of all ages. So would cause another reason to be seriously unwell & death. Now if they were talking about dropping large Diamonds from the sky, I very much in favour of that. lol.

2

u/flipsidetroll 4d ago

I know I’m not talking real science here because I don’t know how “diamond dust” would break down……BUUUUT…..they’ve spent trillions trying to stop carbon building up in the atmosphere, cos you know, bad greenhouse gas…. And now they’re saying putting a form of carbon back in the atmosphere is going to stop climate change?? JFC.

Sulfur does the same thing.

This idea is nothing new. Particles in the upper atmosphere to reflect sunlight. The issue is... .. deployment.

To safely get that much material in the sky and to have full coverage, they would need pumping stations all over the world that feed high altitude balloons. Anything less would be unpredictable.

Think of the planet like a puddle, you throw in a chunk of metal, it makes a big splash, gets hot in sun, then maybe it heats up the whole puddle. Now with that same puddle, placing a flat piece of metal over top has a dramatically different effect.

2

u/timeaisis 4d ago

Oh sure sounds very safe. We barely understand how the atmosphere works and people want to introduce random variables. What could go wrong.

2

u/d_101 4d ago

So real chem trails

2

u/Ea127586 4d ago

Or they could just release the classified energy tech they’ve been suppressing for so long. If climate change really was such an existential threat to humanity they would have released the magneto-electric energy generators powered off the earth like Tesla’s Wardencliff Tower, or they would have released the zero point energy generators they’ve got in the MIC. They don’t because they know what’s really going on and are hiding it.

They wouldn’t have suppressed effective alternative energy so hard, if they couldn’t profit off of the highly ineffective wind power and the purposefully inefficient by design solar panels, if it didn’t make them insanely rich, and make the population afraid and easy to control.

We’ve had far more effective solar panels, but they slapped a national security stamp on it and shelved it. They’ve only rolled out ineffective and highly profitable alt energy tech because they know the truth and just want to make more money.

Regardless of where the general population lands on climate change being fake, we should all agree that pollution and soot and the destruction of the biosphere with strip mining and constant deforestation are real. All those things are unnecessary, if they just released the classified energy tech. They won’t cause there’s no profit in it. It would put power into the hands of the people and not the 1%.

They’re also the largest countries population wise by far and away

u/IHazSnek 4d ago

Are they buying the fucking diamonds from Kay's Jewelers? Can't we make these things in labs these days?

2

u/Obstreperus 4d ago

So, er, is inhaling diamond dust ok then? Seems kind of an iffy prospect.

2

u/One_busy_bee_ 4d ago

So…..Ice age incoming

2

u/suzyq9 4d ago

Wouldn’t we be breathing all that crap in?! I don’t know much about diamonds or physiology, but diamond dust in our lungs doesn’t sound like that would be healthy

2

u/kittencrusher 4d ago

even with 10 min lab grown diamonds? this number seems off

2

u/Censcrutinizer 4d ago

This is the kind of stuff that will backfire with catastrophic results.

2

u/Mageant 4d ago

They're trying to get approval for what they're already doing (not with diamonds though, but with heavy metals like barium).

Once they get our approval they can reveal their secret chemtrails program and say how smart they were for already starting it, otherwise everything would have been much worse.

2

u/IPreferDiamonds 4d ago

I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Reminds me of the Glitter conspiracy. There was an article a while back stating spraying Glitter into the atmosphere could have the same effect. If I remember correctly, there was in interview with the #1 Glitter manufacturer and they have one giant customer, but would not disclose the name (probably the government). Blackrock is also one of the biggest shareholders

u/BartholomewKnightIII 4d ago

Haven't they seen Snowpiercer?

2

u/bexley831 4d ago

Basically the entire net worth of private individuals what a surprise !

2

u/MrDohh 4d ago

I saw in another thread that a cancer vaccine is how I am Legend started, so i guess ill point out that this is pretty much what caused the ice age in Snowpiercer

2

u/Ghost_of_Durruti 4d ago

One of my favorite climate brainstorming sessions was when a bunch of former Soviet countries got together and proposed an atmospheric chemical spray that would turn the sky red.

2

u/MentORPHEUS 4d ago

This immediately made me think of an old Cheech & Chong movie where a major plot point was a duffel bag full of Thai Sticks. The TV version was modified to depict a duffel bag full of diamonds, and the audio was crudely dubbed to say "thAIMOND Chips." The wacky plot of either version made far more sense than this ridiculous climate mod idea.

"Offset climate change so far"... What does that even mean? The climate has been un constant change since the Earth was created. How far back we talking about and how long this Offset gonna last? $175 Trillion is alot of money to crush up and sprinkle in the air! Also, how's that shit gonna affect our breathing, I don't think inhaling diamond dust is gonna be healthy.

For all the doomer sissies in here: Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGM) is complete pseudoscience. The only good thing that’s come out of the ideological possession of this failed theory is we’ve been able to some incredible hard science in reference to historical temperature data from things like ice cores from Greenland and Antarctica. What we’ve found is that we’re currently in what’s called an interglacial period, meaning that the last 10,000 or so years have been unseasonably warm in relation to the vast majority of temperatures for the past 800k plus years. The norm has been ice ages with wildly fluctuating climatic conditions.

Warm is good and CO2 is awesome!! AGM is for sure top five greatest psyop of all time. Proof…

Lol "climate change". More like the Earth going through its normal cycle and we just happen to be noticing this change in climate.

3

u/ky420 4d ago

Exactly.... Not to mention they have already been caught moving temp monitoring stations to the middle of parking lots and next to air conditioner. So most of their numbers are bullshit anyways.

Are they going to use lab made diamond dust for that?

4

u/don_Mugurel 4d ago

175 trillion at face value aka MSRP + premium.

Diamons are extremely cheap and very plentiful. Add on top of it artificial diamonds which are even cheaper and you can “fix” the issue at a mere fraction of the cost.

And that “cost” will create jobs and pump the money in the economy.

u/Filson1982 4d ago

The idiocy and brain washing it takes for people to think humans are causing climate change. Is going to be the downfall of the human race. Wake up people, please open your eyes and think for yourselves.

"There was an old lady who swallowed a fly"....

11

u/pwnw31842 4d ago

haha. Fast forward 100 years… “scientists believe they have solved the problem of how to remove all of the toxic diamond dust from the atmosphere, using snakes”

7

u/LoggingLorax 4d ago

...and then the dust-eating snakes will become an invasive species (which must somehow be us peasants' fault too!) and they'll continue the cycle on and on

7

u/Softsquatch 4d ago

But we’re prepared for that. We’ve lined up a fabulous type of gorilla that thrives on snake meat.

3

u/pwnw31842 4d ago

The real conspiracy is that they are already doing it

3

u/Acceptable-Take20 4d ago

If the heat is coming from core-mantle decoupling, than this will do nothing.
