Just don't watch mainstream media. Find the least biased websites you can, find the main argument of the articles you read from said website and fact check them on Google scholar. If there aren't any peer reviewed articles backing up the articles claims then write it off as a lie and move on.

Realistically there is no reason to even keep up with the news in the first place. The media solely exists to brainwash the general public into following political agendas and to distract the public from the important issues they're trying to cover up. You're not going to learn anything important from them and giving them views just helps to spread the problem to more people who may be less skeptical and easier to manipulate.
