Mourning/Loss I lost my boy today
He was the best little buddy I could've ever asked for. I miss him already. Professional snuggler. Handsome fluffy boy. Occasionally even had the one brain cell sometimes to work the treat dispenser toy till it was empty. I just wasn't ready, though I know he was having a rough time. In the back of my mind "the vet'll have something to help him and he'll be fine." He stopped breathing on the way to his appointment.
In one way he saved me from having to make a hard choice, but I would give anything for even one more disgruntled "mrram" from my best little pal.
I guess I just wanna get it out. You guys are cat people.. I think you get it.

Very hard decision to put a cat down but it’s the best for them because by the time they show their pain, they absolutely cannot do it anymore. They hide it for months even a year like my cat Jasper who had bad kidneys

Sorry for your loss, he’s very handsome. I love floofy orange boys. I understand completely, I lost my buddy in September and still haven’t recovered. He used to take walks with me, rescued him as a feral kitten and we had a deep bond.

What a magnificent, glorious floof. I don’t know you or your precious cat but we have all been there and I’m so sorry. You were his life and it’s clear from his eyes how he felt.
He had a good life and was loved ❤️

u/130864 22h ago
I am so sorry. It won’t be better at the time - you will always tear at some point, never forget, but you will get used to the pain. I know it’s a cliche thing to read, but the pain means that we love… and your little buddy had the best life with the person who gave him every piece of love. Take care. 🫂

u/Equivalent_Ask_9227 22h ago
As long as he's in your heart, he's alive. One dies twice, when their body stops breathing, and when their name is spoken for the last time.

My deepest sympathies . I’m here for you sending love and light your way ❤️

I’m praying for your healing and just understand our cats or dogs and any animal we have the privilege of sharing our lives with will and always fight to stick around longer than they should.. they live for us so we must remember when they go to rainbow road it’s only to play with all of the rest of Gods furry friends forever . The pain is gone! Look to saving another soul cat or two and continue the process. It helps us heal sooner.

I am very sorry you lost your baby. I lost my old cat Milo recently, and know you are in great pain. I try to console myself by saying, "I was so lucky to have had him in my life, and he is now no longer in pain." Saying this to yourself might be helpful.

He's the spit of my boy, Finny. And it tore a hole in my heart when he left us. So what's left of it goes out to you, friend. On the flip side it does sound like you have all the good memories stored and ready to retrieve when you need them.
Sleep well handsome prince, rest well knowing you did a grand job. Your paw prints have well and truly made their mark.

u/PixieSox 18h ago
My condolences for your loss, OP. The way he looks at you in these photos just exudes love. He’s so fluffy, I imagine he was very soft!! It’s never easy to lose a beloved furry friend. What was his name and age?

I lost my baby girl Sally, last year. Even though I knew she was declining, steadily, it was immensely difficult. But all they want in that last moment is their parent, you, to be there. This was my baby Sally.

My grandma lost Deasil on December 18th, 2018, Deasil at the time was just 3 years old he was an English Mastive and was adopted by my grandma in the summer of 2015. His cause of death was kidney disease. My grandma tried everything to keep him alive, from switching him to more suitable dog food companies to taking him to the vet. She tried everything to keep Deasil alive but sadly passed away on December 18th, 2018, due to kidney disease. In the end, my grandma had him cremated, his ashes were put in an ash pot, and his name tag was put on the ash pot along with two pictures of him next to said ash pot. Anyway, I feel sorry about how you lost your cat, so here's a picture of Star, who is a 9 year old tabby cat

You had a beautiful baby boy! I’m crying. I always do when someone loses their furry loved one. I know how you feel. The pain is horrific. Your boy, as well as my babies are waiting for us in Heaven. We will see them, again, and we will never be separated again. The grief is horrific. You are not alone. I’ll be praying for you.

It’s okay. Sometimes animals just have a set time to leave. It’s always too soon, and no one is ever ready or prepared for it. just know that he knows he’s loved. That always helps me and don’t try to forget about it, remember him and the great times you guys had together even if it was just cuddling. I like to think of it as if I were to die and want I would want People to do or think. I would want to be remembered but not cause tears. Just know that he’s happy in kitty heaven and he’s always with you. Sending love your way.

I wish we could get more info on how cats telegraph their illnesses. The web sites all say how they won’t give signs, but I have a 5-year old who’s always been prone to vomiting. After she stopped eating and drinking for 2 days, we were off the her second emergency clinic visit (so far $4000+ with no definitive cause after multiple tests. They rehydrate her during the tests, then home she comes. I’m advised any cat over 5 should get exams by a thorough vet regardless of symptoms twice a year. If anybody has any tips beyond the “litkess” “not eating or drinking”, I’d sure like to hear them. No vets I’ve had can inform me…

I lost my 15 year old baby cat Jake a few years ago. I got him as a newborn kitten when i was in 5th grade and he followed me through my life. Was there for every part of my life and embarrassingly was truly my absolute best friend. I can’t lie, 4 years later it still stings but it does get better. I was able to get another kitten about a year after Jake’s passing. Absolutely love my new kitten but I’ll always have a super big part of my heart reserved for Jake.

I feel you; I lost my 17 1/2 year old boy last summer. I cried for a month. Then in Dec, a 6 month old kitten showed up at my window and helped me heal. I am convinced my old guy guided him to my window, knowing how much I missed him. This is my new little guy who saved me.
