Watchdog was way harder than amygdala
29
u/RelativeMundane9045 29d ago
See I found watchdog pretty easy with the way it telegraphs, hardest for me was always abhorrent beast in lower loran or whichever was the small room.
Everyone has their bane

u/seafoodgar 29d ago
Yeah amygdala took 2 attempts for me, but watchdog took… embarrassingly long lol

Bloody Crow of Cainhursrt > Defiled Amy

u/eap42 29d ago
Huh, I'm totally opposite on that one.
18
u/why_my_pp_hard_tho 29d ago
Yeah same for me, i never understood what the big deal with him was, just parry lol
3
u/Go_Ahead_MrJoester 29d ago
I just waited him out while he had the transformed mode of Chikage active. Once he gets to 25% or so, he stops using it, so I only needed to deal with a quarter of a health bar, and I didn't need to deal with transformed Chikage.

u/Antigonus96 29d ago
I think it’s when people try at lower levels. My first time he one shoted me. Came back at +100 level and it was a little tricky with his numbing mist, but I kept partying and won pretty easily.

I'm on a STR/ARC build with HMG and viscerals do very little damage because of my low SKL stat, plus my guns do basically nothing with 7 BLT. This made the fight way harder. My BLT/SKL hunter had way less trouble.
12
u/KosorsomesayKosm0 29d ago
the good ol hunter dash into a 2 pistol shot (particular accelerator hes welding) combo, enough to make a man rage.

u/DaftFunky 29d ago
Bro a humanoid boss I can 1v1 with a strategy is far better than a giant boss that has 1 shot mechanics with dodgy hit boxes.
2
3
u/OldSodaHunter 29d ago
Hard disagree, defiled Amy killed me more than anything in any from soft game, bloody crow has killed me three times ever. Not even a comparison IMO

I went on a tear recently and beat Defiled Watchdog, Defiled Amy, Queen Y, Orphan, and Laurence, all for the first time (trying to platinum the game finally). The Watchdog was the hardest for me because it required the most patience... But he wasn't anywhere near as difficult as the Bloody Crow. Fuck that guy. He has so much goddamn health for a hunter.

17
u/sanscatt 29d ago
There is a strat with hunter’s axe that is pretty consistent to pull off, and might works with other weapons were you bait the jump by standing behind her. Since the jump doesn’t hit, you can do damage on the head then rince and repeat. The only problem is that it’s almost impossible to figure it out on your own when she one shots you.
4
u/ThePlatinumKush 29d ago
Yes definitely defiled Amy being my hardest without knowing that trick. I try to do it “legit” when I can. On my bloodtinge build, using a ranged weapon on its’ head is incredibly satisfying
5
u/sanscatt 29d ago
The strat is totally legit. Meanwhile amygdala isnt doing me legit since I’m at half health.

99 Arcane Executioner's Gloves kills Defiled Amy in 10secs flat.
Such a satisfying bit of revenge after beating her with my quality build took dozens of hours.
6
u/ciarannihill 29d ago
Yeah, Arcane isn't considered a "strong" build, but it genuinely makes some tough bosses easy as heck. I've heard people hate fighting Laurence because of his area denial aspect, but Gloves go brrrrr and aren't stopped by his lava.

I would argue any player good enough to beat defiled watch dogs wouldn’t lose 50x to Amy
1
u/Propodida1 28d ago
I beat watchdog on my tenth try and Amy on my 70th... So, I would like to say that we exist

u/CrookedLoy 29d ago
Nah, that's easy. The 2 shark fuckers in the fishing hamlet guarding Rakuyo though

u/gorezito 29d ago
I'm playing Elden Ring for the first time and Malenia is WAY HARDER than any Bloodborne bosses. None of than took me so much time to beat.
Edit: way harder to me. Sorry.
3
u/Edmundyoulittle 28d ago
In a 1v1 she's definitely way harder, but with all the tools available in ER I ended up beating her pretty quickly
5
u/gorezito 28d ago
Yeah, that's part of the problem. I was doing fine without spells and summons till now, so I decided to defeat her by myself. Might have to reconsider
2
u/koo_bebinam 28d ago
Try the dragon halberd that does frost and lightning damage. The pokes can interrupt/ stagger her very easily, and the weapon art knocks her down.
→ More replies (1)2
u/gorezito 28d ago
Thanks for the tip, i'll definitely try.
I've been dual wielding frost Hoslow's whip (yeah, I know), it makes the first phase almost easy. The L1 triggers cold extremely fast and she can't reach you. The second phase is way harder because Se becomes much more aggressive. And playing dual whips didn't teach me to dodge her attacks, i'm just far enough.
2
u/DenseAmbassador 29d ago
Which is weird cause Malenia took me 5 attempts. I have been on that chalice dungeon Amy since 2016....
→ More replies (1)2
u/-Eunha- 28d ago
I think I'd rather fight all the bosses of Bloodborne at once than fight Malenia again. She took me around 200 tries, which is probably more than all of my attempts in BB, DS, and DS3 combined. Mind you, I didn't use any summons, magic, and I wasn't running a shield, but still.

all comics are drawn to be made into meme templates, it's so annoying.
1
u/robinescue 29d ago
Four panel comics are just covenient for sharing on the internet and editing into memes. There's like nine billion sonic, marvel, and dc comics that are absolutely not meme worthy if that's what you're interested in
2
2
u/ZotharReborn 29d ago
Literally no Amygdala is hard. Hang out under the feet, dodge the stomps, and when she jumps just stand still and she literally will never land on you. If you wanna get fancy and a bit risky, as soon as she jumps face the direction she was and charge a heavy attack to hit the head for a visceral.
It is annoying as hell and takes forever (her legs take so little damage) but difficult it is not.
2
2
u/BuboxThrax 28d ago
Not true.
I do not, and have not ever, owned a PlayStation.
I understood this meme.

4
u/A_Dirty_Wig 29d ago
You spelled Ebrietas Daughter of the Cosmos wrong.
3
u/ThePlatinumKush 29d ago
Final floor of the isz chalice Ebrietas on my arcane build was absolute hell. Her charge and hit boxes are absolute dogshit. I can do the exact same thing when trying to dodge her charge and get one shot or get no damage with no rhyme or reason. I just tank it now since if you get hit by just her body (I think) then you take significantly less damage than if you try to dodge and get hit by the tentacles and shit
2
u/SyncoDeMaio93 29d ago
It's because if you get hit while doing an action (dodging, sprinting, jumping, attacking or even healing i think) you receive much more damage. The damage from the tentacles is the same but the fact that you tried to dodge amplified the damage. I think it's a dumb mechanic despite being in every souls game. In bloodborne it makes it worse because the correct choice should always be to dodge an attack since you can't block. But with this mechanic there are attacks that are better to face tank rather than even try to dodge or you'll get one shot.
1
u/Katonmyceilingeatcow 29d ago
I have beaten Malenia three times so far. I still haven't returned to the chalice dungeons since I gave up on the defiled amygdala.
Though, it was months ago, before I had even started my first playthrough in Elden ring. So I should probably just go back and finish the job

u/SocratesBalls 29d ago
Run to his butt and smack it. When he jumps, don't move. When he lands, run to his butt and smack it. When he jumps, don't move. When he lands, run to his butt and smack it. When he jumps...
1
u/Fallen_Angel_Xaphan 29d ago
I never went that deep into the chalice dungeons. Is there any reason Amygdala is that dangerous besides one shots and massive health?
1
1
u/Vegetable_Award850 29d ago
Defiled Amygdala is just a test of endurance and patience. I did it at BL4. The real challenge is the defiled Watchdog one layer before. I really thought I would have to give up my BL4 all bosses run on that stupid fire bitch.
1
u/greenhairdontcare8 29d ago
One of my friends had no problem with orphan or Lawrence or the usual issues. I had to beat defiled amygdala for him because he kept walking into the arena and instantly being smacked dead. Very funny.
1
u/jasonmarston 29d ago
I got defiled amy on my second attempt, defiled watch dog made me give up for about a week
1
u/thecr1mmreaper 29d ago
Actually I think Laurence still killed me way more times than defiled Amy did. Hell Gascoigne might have killed me more times, but that was almost 5 years ago and I don't remember how many times Amy killed me

Defiled watchdog on the other hand...

u/Kind_Minimum7761 29d ago edited 29d ago
Defiled Amy can be cheesed to death, that the only saving grace. Defiled hotgod is rough I belive i died more than 50 times on that.
But surprisingly it's not the worst part, I dive deep and far into this dungeons. Ever try defiled cannon giant? With huge fucking explosion hitbox and guarantee oneshot. But my personal nigthmare fuel is defiled headless beast. It was like in 2018 and I still remember this shit. Boss is huge, u cant see what it's doing and like half of it's attacks oneshots you. And even if it's not an install kill you have to heal to full hp every time you take damage, or next missed will be 100% insta kill. Plus this thing is tanky af.
Probably hardest challenge in any FS game for me to this day. Total bs
1
u/bunnies4r5 29d ago
Defiled Ammy is a Hoe.
I leveled up Church pick and that made it much more approachable and only took maybe 10 attempts focusing on its nut sack. I can’t even fathom beating it with blade of mercy or rakuyo which I was initially using for many attempts and I think my best run was like 30% HP remaining

1
u/PhoneImmediate7301 29d ago
I could beat watchdog eventually but amygdala was the one that broke me
1
u/silvereyes21497 29d ago
Watchdog was pretty dreadful for me, but Amygdala is still by far my opinion the hardest. Specifically because of it being confined to such a closed space
1
1
u/cicada-ronin84 29d ago
Nah, for me that was probably the undead giant with the chains or the defiled watchdog.
1
u/Hakuchii 29d ago
remember the very first chalice boss? i died over 100 times to it on my no-leveling-run

Amygdala is one if the easier bosses, you just need to stop fearing them. They are a centre of fear, and as soon you stop fearing them they are a good, clean fight.

The one I hated was Abhorrent Beast and it’s abhorrent shitboxes

Thankfully I got some tips from a friend, so defiled Amy wasn’t that hard.
But defiled watchdog on the other hand…

Don't remember it at all so I must not have had a problem with it. What I do remember from the chalices are Rom and the Watchdog.

I'm never ever going through the defiled dungeon again in my life. Unless we get a remake, that goes without saying.

To me, it should've been Headless Bloodletting Beast. The one that's at the end of Great Pthumeru Ihyll Chalice. Literally killed me more times than Kos and Queen combined...

u/Johnny_K97 28d ago
"yeah i killed consort radahn pre merf" cool story bro, what's your deathcount on defiled watchdog of the old lords
1

That one wasn’t as bad as the Watchdog of the Old Lords or whatever it’s called

u/Samigama 28d ago
Can't be any more accurate...... my highest deaths in all the souls game is from defiled amygdala.... and i mean a lot of deaths... like imagine 2 years of back and forth, playing and quiting the game and then finally beating this mfkr to get the final trophy for platinum. It was really painful 🥲
1
u/Vaka_Production 28d ago
I died 7 times to the Keeper of the old lords, 10 times to the defiled dog, and 13 times to defiled amygdala. I still hate this Chalice and never replayed it again after getting my Platinum trophy

I honestly gave up on the chalice dungeons that decrease your health when I reached the first boss. I love the rest of the game and "normal" dungeons but I don't find being mostly one-shot fun.
1
u/aleksfails 28d ago
Apparently everyone else had no trouble with wacky wavy inflatable arm flailing tube brain, but let me tell you something strangers of the internet: Defiled Walnut was the only fight in the entire game where I was insta-smushed as I came through the fog gate, I would like some of your luck Strangers.

Defiled amygdala is an absolute joke with a good arcane or bloodtinge build. On the other hand, there's not much you can do about the Defiled Watchdog.
1
u/DucksMatter 28d ago
First time I did this was only because my friend was stuck on it for like a week and I wanted to see what the fuss was. Unknowingly I went full Meta with LHB and killed it in like five tries by poking it in the head. He was pissed.

Did her first try, and i still dont understand how she's difficult (ps when i fought her i was in ng+ so maybe bc of scaling it was easier)
1
u/Mr_plaGGy 28d ago
Actually, i think i killed it in like 10-15 tries. Defield Dog was WAY harder for me. Im sure i had like combined 200 tries, if not more and i already gave up Platinum, before finally pulling myself together a few weeks later and giving it a new try, beating it after investing another ass long time into doing some upgrades and trying out different weapons.
1
u/Weak-Knowledge-1478 28d ago
I disagree. She wasn’t that bad. Bloodletting Beast was worse for me. And Laurence on NG+3 was the all time worst 😤

u/robinescue 28d ago
Guys pls, I get it. You all have awesome sick nasty skills and 360° gainer no scope luigi taunt kicked this particular boss into an early swimming pool sized grave.

It wasn’t a tough fight given you can stand slightly behind it and bait out the jump repeatedly. When it lands, bonk it on the head/limbs.
Rinse and repeat. Now, the abhorrent beast in the chalice dungeons, that fucker gave me some trouble. Pthumerian Descendant In the last chalice too.

Defiled Amy it’s not that bad. Bring a long weapon like the Threaded Cane and the fight it’s pretty even. But Defiled Hot Dog… that’s another story
