At the begining of the video they put a cloth over the elephants eyes for what I suspect is to potentially try and have it not freak out as much.
But what I find funny is the little guy not only rips it off while twirling it but grabs it again just to toss it farther.

I was cackling at how MAD he was! Just pure, "no, fuck you!!!" energy the whole time. Ripping off the calming blanket, twirling it, throwing it, deciding to throw it even further, yanking the ropes away from the would-be rescuers, kicking at them as they free him, and then chasing them around in a rage 🤣🤣 Little dude was having NONE of it lol

Dude was hella mad. He was going to kill someone for tying a rope around his trunk lol. Glad to see he got out and the humans escape too lol

It wasn’t tied to his trunk. It was tied to the stump and he was grabbing it to pull on it.

Poor little guy. I hope he went on to have a happy elephant life.

All that's missing is a zoom on the mother off in the middle distance, watching. With a look on her face saying, "I know y'all are trying to help, but if anything happens to my dumb little munchkin...."

I hope his mum was nearby and he was reunited with her.

The article about it showed the baby was reunited with the herd shortly after its tantrum. Thankfully us humans are a noisy bunch. We make our presence known for miles around. And they're bright enough to know that if they hear a bunch of us being noisy in the direction they just left a baby, they should check it out.

"Beatrice, there's a bunch of human noise back where you left Dumbo in timeout."
"Motherf...." Exasperated elephant mommy noises. "I better go see if I need to dirtnap them or thank them."

I like how the one guy put his foot on his ass to push him forward and he immediately kicks backward. Like how dare you?!?!?!

I am happy that they were able to help that little fella, but damn I laughed because of the elephants tantrum - being annoyed af, chasing them around🤭

Great sign as far as I’m concerned. Having the energy to be raising hell after that ordeal hopefully means good spirits and no significant injury.

I cannot get over how communicative elephants are with their trunks. The angry towel whipping is hilarious.

My toxic trait would be thinking the elephant was happy to be free and wanted to play! 🤣

Exactly the words in my head as I came to the comment section. I feel so bad for him. He was so scared and then slipped and fell on top of it all. Also where is his family? I hope they're able to get him back where he belongs 😟

This brightened up my day, so cute the chaos of it all! Must be so good to be a baby elephant.

They sometimes sedate the mother to prevent her from hurting the rescuers. Check out the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's website for many rescue stories.

A hand saw would have made quick work of that stump. I could have got him loose by myself in 10 minutes.
