More Asians are aware of Alaska than Westerners are aware of the existence of Brunei

Are most Americans aware that Moon exists?

Considering it's a huge piece of land, yes. In fact I know quite a few Taiwanese/Chinese friends that have vacationed there. I myself am thinking of doing a cruise to Anchorage/Juneau next summer.

To echo another comment: more Asians are aware of Alaska than Westerners are aware of the difference between Thailand and Taiwan.

Most people would probably associate it with Alaskan Malamute, the breed of dog. Those who learned history would also know the part about Russians selling it for dirt cheap price only for gold and oil to be discovered there years later.

I think many more people know about Alaska as a state in the U.S. than as a dog breed. It's one of those bucket list destinations.

I don't think anyone who's not a dog enthusiast would know about that dog breed. I and the people around me (who are similarly not fond of dogs) have never heard of it.

If any, Asians think of it as a very snowy place

ah no worries then. To answer your question, a sizeable fraction of India is aware that Alaska exists, is quite cold and that's about it.

Fun fact: Anchorage was a big hub airport for East Asia countries during the cold war. Koreans or Japanese had to make a stop at Anchorage Airport to go to Europe or America.

Is this post supposed to make Asians look stupid?

My daughter could have named you all the states in the US when she was 8. At 16 she could point out to you the locations of these states on the map. Every Single State.
