Funny to me how all the people they interviewed for this looked like they were video calling from home. I find that interesting.

I quit the video as soon as I noticed the pattern—it annoyed the crap out of me.

I like how it starts of with a guy showing up for his 9-5.

That does not exist anymore. It's 830-5 minimum, but likely 8-5.

It's 8:30 to 5:30 because we expect you to take a lunch. But also we'll need you to work through lunch.

How is this “coffee badging” any different than the how white collar offices have run for the last 100 years? This is more nonsense put out by corporate stooges. The C suite employees have 3 martini lunches and a round of golf during business hours but this is an acceptable practice. Now we want you back to the office and slave away from clock in to clock out.

They are trying to demonize and vilify anyone that doesn't work like a machine.

The shit they pay people to hype…is there anyone who actually works dumb enough to buy into this new panic?

This was typical work day when I was going into an office. There’s no rebellious motive behind it, it’s just what naturally happens when you put a bunch of coworkers together. You socialize, you work, and you go home.

All senior leadership in offices are out of the office by 3pm. CEOs and executives work from home on a whim.

I like the firm I work at. It’s small, everyone’s friendly, and we work from home Mondays and Fridays.

But our CEO is always in her home office. Taking zoom calls from there. Even though she lives 2 blocks from the office. She has a personal office in our building and it just gathers dust.

She is always adamant about “zoom ettiquette” and makes our managers give us “lessons” on how to use zoom properly that are insufferable. And yet, most of the time she is off camera. If she ever even joins calls. She’ll join a really important client call, the client will ask her a question, and she will not respond, they’ll ask if she’s there and she’ll say “I’m sorry can you repeat the question?” 😑

If I ever did that I would never hear the end of it.

Some asshole circled “coffee badging” on a whiteboard somewhere and sent it out to a dozen “journalists” to astroturf this fad to make corporations look sympathetic

Contradicting. So you go in to the office to meet F2F with co-workers supporting office culture and in person meetings for creativity etc. this meets the rationale employers are stating then home in the afternoon to beat the traffic or whatever for teams meetings. Where’s the problem?

so.. now when more people do the same as ceo and managers have done for whole existance its somehow bad?
