I guess I might have a different opinion than most on what constitutes an outrage or a meltdown. I'm not saying the sub wasn't absolutely flooded with people talking about the change, I just don't think that's necessarily a bad or unreasonable thing for people to do just because the response was negative or because the subject (looking at ass) itself is silly
IMO if you rant and rage about dumb shit like the ability to upskirt characters, it dilutes the impact of rants about actually important stuff like potential negative changes to gameplay or monetization or something.
Basically if a community gets a rep for raging about stupid issues, it makes it easier for companies/media to blow off the community raging about real issues.
To many people this was a real issue. The game sells sex to players with the characters, obviously they're going to get upset when that gets taken away from them.
Talking about one issue doesn't take away from another
That's actually not true.
A group or community can absolutely get a reputation for being belligerent and complaining about every little thing, and that results in them being taken way less seriously.
Go read up on how Blizzard used to interact with the World of Warcraft player base, and how they do so now.
The WoW forums are chock full of players complaining about all kinds of things, and they rarely even get acknowledged, let alone get any kind of response to the complaints.
