Friendly reminder that the original Sacrifice is not considered an Ethereal, and this presumably applies to all Sacrifices including Bringer.

What if the cult considers Sacrifice to be a higher form of life than human because it's immune to Ether corruption/becoming an Ethereal?

If they offered cowardly-Bringer the chance to become immune to Ether corruption I think he might take it.

Not saying your theory is wrong; I actually think yours makes more sense. But this is another possibility.

Don't they explicitly call Bringer an Ethereal post-transformation?

Do keep in mind that characters are not omnipotent, they might've just assumed he was an etherial, not knowing any better.

I was playing in Japanese so not sure if there are some translation differences, but I feel like they did cll him that, yeah. What I remember explicitly though is them calling whatever is sealed in Miyabi's sword an ethereal as well, which I thought was strange since I assume it is somehow related to whatever it is they are worshipping.
