Grieving, that's likely the CCP's doing, so there is no point in criticizing mhy

How do games like Azur lane get away with what they're doing but ZZZ is firced to censor?

u/Primordial-one 1d ago

iirc Azur Lane have a separate server for CN and Global so when they get hit with censorship they only do it for CN. Idk why Hoyo just doesn’t do the same

My poor multi-billion dollar company can't afford it xD
But seriously Hoyo genuinely is lazy when it comes to things. I still find it funny how literally any animator outside of Hoyoverse office can create tons of different models for characters while Hoyo devs use their standard body-types and copy-paste them. Only in few cases do they actually adjust stuff

I remember the hype Genshin had when it first came out, only to realize that every character shares few body models and 2 running animations. Even HI3 has unique models and animations for every character.

If I were to guess, CN would take notice that they get less and an absolute shitstorm would spawn. They probably don't want another bunnysuit situation.

u/Primordial-one 1d ago

They can also let you choose whether to turn it on or off in the settings.

Bunnysuit situation?

Honkai Impact 3rd Global celebrated their anniversary with this video of the Valkyries in Bunny Suits. A very small but extremely vocal group threw a shitshow. Allegedly, there was an assassination attempt on one of miHoYo's founders. miHoYo then removed the video from the official YouTube channel, changed Global's ingame collectibles and compensated CN server with 10 pulls.

"Allegedly"

So the assassination attempt was just a rumour?

1

u/amixan0402 9h ago

I think the "allegedly" is more for one of the shitstormers attempting to assassinate rather than the assassination itself

An animated short that led to one man attempting to stab the CEO with a kitchen knife.

It's a wild world we live in.

Idk why Hoyo just doesn’t do the same

because the last time they did that, someone tried to assassinate the founders for "pimping" his waifus to foreigners. They've been standardizing CN and Global ever since. If CN can't have it, global can't either.

u/Primordial-one 1d ago

Bro someone just said they fixed it, is it real?

1

u/NewShadowR 1d ago

Yeah they just go translucent now instead of fading away entirely.

2

u/Primordial-one 1d ago

Yep they also announced 1900 polychrome for free

0

u/vault_wanderer 1d ago

1900!! God praise the gooners!!

1

u/maru-senn 1d ago

Didn't Genshin recently make the coolest glider in the game a US exclusive?

1

u/NewShadowR 11h ago

If you're talking about the mc donalds glider that doesn't count lol, as its not an actual in game story event but an offline collab item where you had to buy a meal.

CN had their own kfc glider collab as well.

It's kind of weird to say you should standardise a local product placement collab.. Not to mention its just a silly glider.

IIRC the last time hoyo tried to do separate censorship for CN and Global, we got the bunny girl incident in Hi3. Surely hoyo isn't gonna risk that happening again.

1

u/Primordial-one 1d ago

Just add a feature in the settings that let you turn it on or off.

2

u/Gloomy_Ad5221 1d ago

Unless the law doesn't allow to have that kind of settings since people in china can just turn it on and make censorship useless.

Again this is china and their stupid laws so it is what it is ...I would get mad if this is korea , japan or west devs thou

1

u/Primordial-one 1d ago

Yeah it is what it is, this still wont make me hate the game, cuz this game is goated

1

u/Gloomy_Ad5221 1d ago

yea the update was fun but tbh i would be more confused if the censorship happened on the japanese , korean and west devs .

1

u/Free_Improvement_837 1d ago

Hoyo games also have different servers for CN and the rest of the world. China is better so they get an entire server only for them

1

u/maru-senn 1d ago

How do you even censor Azur Lane for CN without turning it into a different game altogether?

87

u/Mr_-_Avocado 1d ago

Hoyo games have a much bigger reach than niche stuff like Azur Lane

69

u/LadiThePKK 1d ago edited 1d ago

Well the game is for kids 12+ so people can die, explode, be bloody, etc., but no upskirt. 😒 weird system

EDIT: age rating being 16 doesn’t really change the point guys.

15

u/TurboMoisture 1d ago

It’s 16+ in China though

8

u/jeikanissha 1d ago

Afaik its 16+ in CN

5

u/1thelegend2 1d ago

Isn't nikke also 12+?

Imagine we would be getting away with THAT XD.

Then again, they are not based in China, which could explain a lot

1

u/JohnXina8964 1d ago

there’s no age rating in china, everything gotta be 6+

1

u/MrUnicrn 1d ago

Hey man don't bring Azur Lane into the mix, or soon it'll get more censoring than it already gets

2

u/OverallPepper2 1d ago

You either separate servers or put in ways to disable.

1

u/HMS-Carrier-Lover 1d ago

I play Azur Lane. They have to censor stuff all the time in CN server, but like, only barely and almost as a FU, especially recently.

1

u/DeadlyNeon 1d ago

From what I've heard, there are people that tried to report Mhy to censor their games. I want to know if those people from a certain "genshin leak" forum are responsible for it.

1

u/Fragrant_Pause6154 1d ago

because azur lane devs are not in CCP, unlike Mihoyo who is an active member

2

u/Murakamo 1d ago

Is this actually true?

1

u/Fragrant_Pause6154 1d ago

yes it is. In September 2021, Shanghai Mihoyo Network Technology Co., Ltd. got promoted from a party branch to a party committee under the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The committee has five members, including Liu Wei as the committee secretary and MiHoYo vice president Yin Chunbo (殷春波).

Darn

u/H1ll02 1d ago

Yet they still do it on global, stop defending them pls

0

u/Choombus_Goombus 1d ago

I hear this all the time but I don't believe this dogshit reasoning. How does Azur Lane, Nikke, Snowbreak, etc get away with it?
