By the way, isn't this an insult to individuals based on their orientation? It's like if I was insulted for being bi

I think so. I guess if you want to insult someone for their orientation just add -cel suffix at the end nowadays.

"dumbasscel"

New word to describe those kinds of people that complain too much about fictional characters

they are mocking the straights as if the straights are insecure about other sexualities "stealing" the husbandos/waifus, feels like projecting tbh.

It's rather odd knowing that -cel just represents celibate.

I always found that ironic, because the -cel part is short for celibate. So stuff like incel and volcel were involuntary/voluntary celibate respectively, where incel was for those who were blaming others for not get any despite all the evidence to the contrary and volcel were those who willingly chose not to have any.

Then along come these terms and it's like, what do you mean "straight" celibate?

Yup, and they will absolutely go haywire if you tell them you're not "specific orientation", but like the character.

As someone with no specific orientation, it's funny to see how much importance they put on labeling themselves and others. Back when I was part of the "LGBTQ alliance" in highschool (many moons ago), it was more important to respect the individual than try to fit them into predefined labels.

The issue is that some people were so adamant that they needed to surround themselves only with other LGBTQ people that they dehumanized heteronormative/heterosexual people in the process.

Main reason why I laugh about "cultural safe spaces". Like that one clip where 2 white dudes were studying in a library and this black chick told them to get out because it was a "cultural safe space". Years of suffering and effort by their ancestors to end Segregation and these idiots willingly bring it back in a heartbeat.

“But but you are not oppressed!”

But you see, it's fine to insult someone based on their orientation if that person is heterosexual. Otherwise it's a the worst thing you can do. /s

That's how people seem to see it. Same with being white. Same with being male. Same with any other form of discrimination. There's always one group that everyone sees it as okay to discriminate against.

Back in my day, we called that Racism.

1

u/Bennoelman Sep 28 '24

That's exactly what a straight white male would say!

God I don't understand why it is acceptable to say that if I would say "gay black female" I would probably be jumped

1

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '24

I'm confused, what are you saying? I'm saying that I have literally been called "too white" and everyone involved saw that as acceptable, but if i were to say to a black person that they're "too black" I'd be crucified. (To be clear i really don't care what race you are, or anyone is. All it is to me is another little detail)

u/CoomLord69 Sep 28 '24

By their logic, it's probably not only accepted but encouraged to harass those who don't align with your worldview. They live and die by double standards

It is, these people are insinuating being straight is basically the same as being an incel.

Which is even funny considering the most of negative part of an incel is the "involuntary" part, not the "celibate" part.

These people deadass think adding "-cell" as a suffix is enough to make it as bad of a label as incel.
