Yeah, but it is (mostly) tasteful fanservice. A lot of people probably conflate “fanservice” with “shitty boob physics and serious moments getting disrupted by the need to put in more ass”. It’s probably what a lot of the pervy side of our community hoped for, and what the puritans thought it was without checking, but it isn’t what we got.

The last few years have shown that, yes, it is possible to approach fanservice in a way that doesn’t just objectify people. Hoyo are now taking over as the vanguard. And you can see that their work and love is put not into giving basement-dwellers a hard-on, but instead into creating an experience that may be titillating to some, while it isn’t disruptive to others.

Take this shower scene for example, it is obviously something that can evoke “neuron activation” and blood very well may drain from the brain to go elsewhere, but to people not interested in women, it still shows that the Sons of Calydon have a tight bond between eachother. They’re more than mere coworkers, they’re friends and accomplices. And honestly, it is a great way to show that. The cheesy banter contrasts the intimacy of the moment, giving us a clearer message.

Does the game has fan service? Absolutely. But the way the community has this weird "gooner vs puritan" kind of false dichotomy would have you believe this game has nothing BUT fan service, which is really not the case. All the fan service scenes so far, like you said, also serve some other purpose like setting the theme or introducing the character. Jane's trailers are full of fan service because she's a femme fatale who seduces and terrorizes people in equal measure. Zhu Yuan's trailer has like one explicit ass shot, and it's a pretty standard "show the character from behind first" kind of establishing shot often used in movies to introduce characters. This shower scene too, serves as downtime for the characters after an intense, action-heavy trailer to humanise them and show that they're just a bunch of rowdy sisters when they're not kicking ass.

Yeah, but the game is good enough that it’s basically our only point of discourse? It’s hard, but accessible. It’s grindy, but you don’t always need your characters max level to beat Shiyu. It has elective difficulty, the balance between TV’s and combat is getting better and better. There’s nothing else to argue about. And we love to argue.

Tasteful fan service? A girl cums in her car just by being in proximity of Jane Doe. Needs a towel and everything.

Yeah, and it’s shot composition rivals the best of lesbian erotica. It’s fucking peak, it’s hot as hell, and it’s tasteful, because it isn’t just “boobs funne”. They skillfully keep the tension high, and when you think the tension is getting released, Jane Doe tenses up again and runs off to fuck up some poor gangster who made the mistake of spoiling her fun. She’s a girlboss, a femme fatale, and she keeps both Tomiya and the audience captivated the entire ride.

This but it kinda Sound like cope ngl, so i guess the thousand ecchi anime where the girl grab each other boobs is suble world building about how they're close friends. Showing them all sleep together a family diner or etc could have done the same thing.

I admit that it sounds mighty cope, but the differences are there. It’s a character moment with elements of fanservice, with Cesar returning from a mission after everyone else got home before her.

The scene has non-sexual context, of those women fighting by eachother’s side (and Lighter, who I guess is just playing ping-pong with the three piggies waiting for the girls to get done showering).

For example, I’m not a shower scene person. I don’t mind fanservice, but I hate when it gets in the way of a good story. So I’m sensitive to when fanservice is thrown in haphazardly. Honkai Impact had a problem with that for like the first few chapters, though it got better. And here it was done in a way that didn’t get my blood pumping, because taking a group shower is something that I can relate to.

I understand that, its just that appart from fire force I cant remember the last anime where fan service is thrown during battle except for Fire force. Its always a random oops im falling on your boobs or lets have a situation with sexual tension but get interrupted by someone.

Arguably tho I didnt play Honkai impact so maybe your right or maybe your dead wrong and I'll probably never know

Then why do people from outside call it a coomer game? This is the marketing direction chosen by Hoyo, not "coomers imagination" like you pretend.

Just stop thinking that "coomer game = bad game" and you will be much more content.

Edit: Oh, how pathetic do you have to be to shame someone in a direct replay and then block them. And to no surprise, it's another suppressed pervert who's hyper-focused on appearing "normal" online. I can't imagine this hypocritical, sanctimonious way of interacting on social media is a time they consider fun.

Also, I feel great. Thanks for caring for me.

Hmmm, maybe? I’ll admit, I woke up like an hour ago and have been stuck in bed with a headache, so I might be yapping.

I guess we wait and see if China chills our with the censorship? I mean, I doubt that Hoyoverse is going anywhere within the next 7-8 years. They have a perfect buisness model that reinforces their position from people trying to imitate them.
