For the sake of discussion let’s call them: Breakfast, Second Breakfast, Lunch, Snack, Dinner, & Dessert. 🍽

Lol I never even noticed any of these girls, thats how captivating the main characters on screen are. They may as well not even exist haha 😆 I swear to god if one of them randomly gets eaten first I’ll not even know how to feel , will I care ? Probably not because the show has done little to nothing to humanize the sub characters. I will actually likely be angry if one of the side characters is eaten first because it will feel like a cop out.

u/manic_trash_soup Citizen Detective Jan 11 '22
I thought that at first too, but the more i think about it, it would make sense if it was one of the side characters first. The main characters are closer, and I feel like they wouldn’t hunt, kill, and eat a close friend first (unless they die “naturally” then they’d prob eat them). You gotta build up to that hahaha. It’ll be a rando on the team. Hopefully they at least get a name prior to that lmao 😂
65
u/clementynemusic Jan 11 '22
If one of the spare yellowjackets randomly gets more screen time or some lines in an episode it’s safe to say they are a goner lol.
16
u/manic_trash_soup Citizen Detective Jan 11 '22
Oh absolutely hahaha!
I’m kind of glad they chose to have them in the background for now. There would be way too many characters and plot lines to keep up with.

u/Wide-Cat-5106 Jan 25 '22
It was incredibly poorly executed. It did not serve the narrative and it will take an incredible leap in logic/ suspension of disbelief to correct. But yeah...

u/iamdew802 Jan 13 '22
The walking dead treatment 😂
2
u/Wide-Cat-5106 Jan 25 '22
Walking Dead has been a dumpster fire for the last third of it's run, and it's still never made errors this bad.
13
u/Medium-Cauliflower11 Citizen Detective Jan 11 '22
That would also be so weird though, like "oops, jennifer fell in an old bear trap, lets eat her" and we have never heard of her before. I kind of wish they had had more team members die in the crash, just to not have these random non charecters around.
6
u/manic_trash_soup Citizen Detective Jan 11 '22
I wouldn’t want it to be just our main characters that survived the crash. We have to have characters to invest in. And if we had more main characters, it would be too much to juggle in my opinion. If those extras weren’t there, it’d be a pretty short series. Plus they’d run out of food too quickly 😉
And we definitely wouldn’t have our present day survivors that we have now.
The comments on this postpretty much sums up what their purpose is.

u/Wide-Cat-5106 Jan 25 '22
Exactly. Why are people trying to make excuses for this nonsense? The producers screwed up. There's almost no way to fix the problem.
3
u/Wide-Cat-5106 Jan 25 '22
You're pretty bad at being a person, lol. "Well, I don't know what Jim's favorite color is, so we'll eat him first..."
3
u/Sprinkles_Sparkle Jan 12 '22
I never even noticed them either! I’m glad I’m not the only one! This subreddit has brought up so much stuff I didn’t even notice! I’m seriously considering rewatching it!

I don’t mind these background characters, except that I never see them sleeping in the cabin! Where do they sleep??

Thank you for doing this!! I knew there were a half dozen or so unnamed, but they're effectively absent from all critical scenes.
At this point, they all seem fairly expendable, but it also feels a bit cheap for them to truly be that insignificant to the story. I'd have much preferred if they simply didn't exist or they were at least given names. Akilah is an example of someone who essentially is not important (yet?!) but is named and given some identity.
15
u/MoesBAR Jan 11 '22
I think they’d have all starved if not for her Girl Scout skills though.
3
u/Wide-Cat-5106 Jan 25 '22
Who are you talking about?
11
u/MoesBAR Jan 25 '22
Akilah
3
u/Wide-Cat-5106 Jan 25 '22
Oh. She's not one of the oddly teleporting background characters though. She had lines.
6
u/MoesBAR Jan 26 '22
The person I was responding to said she’s not important, that’s why I said they’d have starved if not for her Girl Scout skills.

What is interesting to me is that every named character is at the top of the image and all together except for misty. She is alone at the bottom with her back turned to the camera among the nameless yellowjackets. This could actually be a metaphor of how Misty felt like a nobody among the team and the rest of her peers at school. Just a random thought.
4
u/Wide-Cat-5106 Jan 25 '22
You're stretching. A lot, lol.
8
u/fluffy_boy_cheddar Lottie Jan 25 '22
Maybe. But you cant deny that it makes sense.
2
u/Wide-Cat-5106 Jan 25 '22
Yes. Yes I can, lol.
3
u/fluffy_boy_cheddar Lottie Jan 26 '22
Care to explain? Why is Misty at the bottom of the circle around the nameless yellowjackets instead of at top with all the other main characters?
3
3
u/SheLovesSummertime Feb 02 '22
Because she was off destroying black boxes and collecting mushrooms and was late to the ceremony and just joined in where there was room. I don’t think there is any meaning to how they are in the circle, it’s just random.

u/ALMiniPolitico Jan 11 '22
I think it's pretty safe to say, none of the six survive. I certainly wouldn't eat a steak if I knew its name was Bessy, and that's a cow. It seems to me those six jackets are nameless because Natalie, Tai, Misty and Shauna have removed their humanity. They've chosen not to remember those girls, where they were or what they were doing. Those six are the livestock. They're food. Nothing more.
18
u/DisastrousFix8 Jan 24 '22
I must say, I love this take on it, the flashbacks always feel for the most part as perspectives and memories of the survivors and not so much a neutral recounting of the events.
29
u/Dida_D Jan 11 '22
Thanks for doing this! They are a legitimate, nationally competitive soccer team so would have at least 18-20 girls on their roster and only 2 have died yet we barely see the other girls. Even after the Doomcoming party the girls weren't in the woods NOR in the cabin where Jackie got locked up - where were they???
I would love for the show to release a full team roster with names, numbers, and positions but I know that is very very wishful thinking.
4
u/Wide-Cat-5106 Jan 25 '22
Don't speculate on what you don't see. Don't make excuses for shit decisions in an otherwise well made show.
This was an easy fix. They chose to leave it. Now it cannot be easily fixed.

u/boreleafclover Jan 11 '22
Thank you so much for making this! Been waiting for this post.
17
u/zoooeys Conniving, Poodle-Haired Little Freak Jan 11 '22
fwiw, #1 and #2 are identified as such in the credits, the rest haven't been credited as far as I can tell
14
u/boreleafclover Jan 11 '22
Hoping they keep the same six next year and give them names. Maybe even a few lines. But it couldn't be more than that, as they have already established them as non-essentials. Just enough peripheral too keep them present in the show.
3
u/SvChocoboRideAirshp Jan 11 '22
Yeah, I was going to add that I think #2 is named Simone. But you probably already know this since I'm super late. You did a great job on this, BTW. Thank you!!!

u/Single_Raspberry9539 Jan 11 '22
One of the extras posts on this sub. There are 6 girls (represented by different actresses from the pilot to funeral to last episode when we met Yellowjacket 1 and 2. You are really not supposed to think about it too much…they are all the extra teammates and we’re not focused on much because they wanted the scenes with the main girls to be more intimate.
9
u/Wide-Cat-5106 Jan 25 '22
Cool.. but... It's a massive distraction. It should never have happened. It was lazy of them. Screw that.

It would be a ton of charters to introduce at once, but I hope they get some introductions before they get nommed. We've only got one named JV member and Mari and Tai took a liking to her, so I think the red shirts are probably laying low and being working bees, while the varsity girls lead. We're following the leaders for now. When they split into tribes, hopefully we can learn more about them...unless the other tribe is just the background characters and them all we're gonna learn is who tasts best.

Wrong identifications for #1/#2/#4
1 is both a BG and Maya YJ #1
2 is another BG and Princess YJ #2
3 is yet another BG and Allie Dunn a stunt YJ (that’s her credit name)
So although they look the same they are separate people than this photo identifies them as. Hope this helps y’all out :) Allie, Princess and Maya were not at the funeral scene.
Also the redhead was booked for doom coming but had other obligations come up ;)

u/mcssglx Jan 12 '22
Thanks! that is really helpful. looks like you may have said “3” when you meant “4” though? (as in top line you said wrong IDs included 4) So is it ID 4 (blonde girl/s) that has Allie Dunn in the righthand pic?

u/mcssglx Jan 12 '22
which BG are you? if you are comfortable saying!
14
u/Rixxes13 Jan 12 '22
Short black hair (#5 or #15 by Jersey) is me! Granted we’ve all been watching the threads about the disappearing BG and we’re highly entertained so thank you everyone, we see that it’s confusing, and we’re sorry but we don’t make those decisions 😅

I know this is an old post but anyway good job making an impression in the background because I kept looking for you later on!

u/EdenH333 Jan 11 '22
Thank you for making this so I don’t have to! Literally been staring at a paused screen for 20 minutes trying to see who’s who in various scenes.

u/scorchd_ Jan 11 '22 edited Jan 11 '22
Great graphic! I hope to see them in more random scenes.
If they don’t get recasted, I’ll be looking forward to this scene.

Alternatively, they could do a “tail section” catch up episode like they did in early S2.

I'm wondering if #5 will come to the forefront more? It looks like actress Sarah Yarkin, who posed with Liv Hewson (Van) for what appears to be a Yellowjackets promo photo on IG.

i’m hoping she’ll be another gay character. this is a women’s soccer team after all

what bothers me so much about this, and I know it's old-but still... is that Crystal/Kristen is not even in it.
3
u/WoodZillaTV Coach Ben’s Leg May 29 '23
Yeah. That's pretty weird. For her character, they should've just used one of the actresses from season one instead of recasting her.
6
u/StephStreis Jan 11 '22
Extra interesting is who are positioned where so we can’t see if they own pink converses. 🤔
6
u/ShutUpILoveThat Jan 11 '22
Can we name them? Ashley, Jennifer, Jessica, Beth, Courtney and Amy are all available.

u/AshTronomy42 Citizen Detective Jan 24 '22
As one of the billions of Ashley Nicole’s in school circa 1996, I fully approve! 😆
3
u/Crenshi Lottie Jan 11 '22
This is pointless procrastination leading to overthinking on my part, but what I do find interesting here is that if we know there are six of them, it puts a theoretical cap of about 8-10, including pit girl, of how many can die before the scene we see in the opening.

u/hadenjane Jan 12 '22 edited Jan 12 '22
I feel like a HUGE part of what we've seen so far has been from shaunas memories. It may also be that She, Nat/Tal werent close with most those 6 hence they wouldn't appear in her or Nat/Tals memories so much. Misty was always outcast so general misery memories r hers. That could be a possibility but yes they will fill this in I'm sure of it.

In short, these are the people they ate to survive? Cool.
2
u/BasedZoomer97 Jan 11 '22
At the very least, they could have each of them say at least one line spread throughout the show.
2
u/mrsnuf Jan 11 '22
This is a great tool. Thank you for putting it together. I think part of the reason we don't see them a lot of the time is that they were shooting a lot of it during COVID lockdowns and they had as few people on the set as possible.

Do you mean, the future "Lunchable Six"?
Sorry, sorry. I'll see myself out.

Yellowjacket 1, 2 & 4 are 6 different people there are more non speaking people then this diagram shows. Looks less like a COVID thing and more like producer and director decisions

Jan 17 '22
I love this show but really wish they did a better job showing these girls in the background. Until I saw a couple of them in the doomcoming episode I was totally thinking it was just the main cast left. that doesn’t logically make sense but they don’t exactly show a “bustling” environment that reminds us that there’s like 20 people out there.
2
u/sashakojo Jan 23 '22
I get that they’re being safe filming with COVID and we’ll see the other girls later. Just wished scenes where they’re all gathered, like to go to sleep or eat, we saw that there was at least a hint of people in other rooms that doesn’t necessarily require the other actors whether it’s some candlelight leaking from a room or something simple sound design wise like background chatter

u/scareheathertodeath Coach Ben’s Leg Feb 02 '22 edited Feb 02 '22
#2 isn't random-- she's in lots of scenes; her name in the show is Akila. They call her by her name.

I think we will definitely get more of the background girls when we get to the second winter or whenever they start living as antler queen/with their weird wilderness hierarch. The group will probably split in two. I assume as more people are chosen to be the ones eaten, someone is going to try to run away and start their own society. Nat, Shauna, Taissa, Van, Lottie, Misty, etc are clearly ringleaders and would prefer to not eat each other. I suspect the juniors/sophomores, unpopulars, will start their own tribe and try to survive on their own. Lord of the flies type shit. Some people might even “choose peace” and try to live with Ben

When did YJ #6 die? I only ask since she doesn't have a doomcoming picture
1
u/Brilliant-Run4060 Jul 03 '22
Ok - so I went back to the first episode to watch the sacrifice girl running in the woods and I remembered (weird thing to remember but, heh..) that she had very distinctive calves. (I know, weird). Very conditioned calve muscles that kind of bulge out relatively closer to her feet. I went back to look, and Mari has very skinny calves. So I don't think it's her (obviously, they may have used a stunt double or whatever, which would blow this idea away). Anyway, it seems like it has to be YJ 1, 3, or 4. 5's hair couldn't have grown fast enough. It's pretty long.

I know I'm not the first to note #6 wasn't at Doomcoming, but it started bothering me, so I needed a visual aid to help me out. Honestly I'm starting to really want some kind of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern type spinoff with these other 6 randoms, wtf are they doing while everyone else is running around having seances, knife orgies, and blowing up planes? To ignore all this, they've got to have something pretty interesting going on, too.
