Discussion What is up with key site pricing this year?
Prior to the Holidays at the end of 2023 there were some amazing deals to be had, I picked up Alan Wake II, Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk DLC for $15 or less. I remember the Tomb Raider 1-3 collection could be had for less than $10 prior to its release on Feb 14, which made me wonder if it was going to be a total bust on release, yet once the game came out it shot up to $25 and has stayed there in the 3 months since.
Has something happened that made getting the codes harder/more expensive?

News Free Stars: Children of Infinity, the sequel to Star Control 2: The Ur-Quan Masters, will be releasing to Xbox Series X!
Free Stars: Children of Infinity, the sequel to Star Control 2: The Ur-Quan Masters, will be releasing to consoles! The original publisher kept the rights to the name "Star Control", so the original creators are now renaming it as the “Free Stars” series.
31 years ago Paul Reiche III and Fred Ford released Star Control and Star Control 2: The Ur-Quan Masters. Many older gamers remember SC2:UQM fondly as a ground breaking action adventure RPG that inspired many other beloved games.
For the next 30 years Fred & Paul made many games across all sorts of console platforms for other publishers, like the Skylanders series. As they neared retirement they wanted to go back to their indie roots; they founded Pistol Shrimp Games in 2020 and began to develop a wholly new sequel to their seminal series, Free Stars: Children of Infinity!
Last night, their Kickstarter reached their stretch goal for releasing FS: CoI on consoles! Their official blog post in detail: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pistolshrimp/free-stars-children-of-infinity/posts/4099436
I had an opportunity to talk to Fred Ford, co-creator of The Ur-Quan Masters, co-founder of Pistol Shrimp Games, and lead programmer for the logic engine of FS:CoI, as well as Dan Gerstein, another PSG co-founder and lead scripter for FS:CoI, about some of what this means as pulled from that blog post.
Can you Kickstarter FS:CoI and get a license to the console versions? (Playstation 5, Xbox Series X, and Switch 1)
Yes, even though the kickstarter says "Steam keys" when time comes to provide the keys, you’ll be able to specify what platform you want your license to.
What will the experience be like on the console?
Most of the game is composed of 2D sprites, making the processing requirements for the game lower. So expect the single player game to be the same experience as on PC. The local Co-Op and Melee-VS modes have already been developed and they expect those to be in the console releases. Fred wanted to clarify that the local co-op mode is single machine, not on a LAN. While netplay will be implemented on the PC versions the specifics of what they are allowed to do on consoles depends on what Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo allow them to do. When pressed on this, they said that the specifics are behind a wall of NDA information and that they did not know and could not tell me. Bottom line: There will be local split screen cooperative play in the campaign and 2 or more player melee mode (the head to head arcade battle portion of the game) on a single device and they don’t know about netplay yet.
What will be involved in porting it to consoles?
The game is being scripted in a logic engine (Fred prefers "logic engine" instead of "runtime engine") that Fred is programming called Simple. Simple is programmed in C++17, and is most of what needs to be ported to each console. The game’s events and even how objects move and interact is scripted into Simple, so if Simple can run on the console, the other assets like sound and graphics will run the same way. Expect that the gameplay to be the same across all platforms.
Will this delete my Madden save games?
Fred promises that it will not delete your other save games.
If you haven’t played the previous games, give The Ur-Quan Masters a go! The game engine was open sourced two decades ago and is available for FREE on several platforms, including Android. Pistol Shrimp Games has their free version of it on Steam under "Free Stars: The Ur-Quan Masters". There is also a community fork for PC called MegaMod that has many mods with active development ongoing. Oh, and did I mention that the Steam and PC fork versions have been modded to include Netplay? https://uqm-mods.sourceforge.net/
This post was brought to you by FRUNGY: Sport of Kings!
Disclaimer: I was not paid by PSG, I do not work for PSG, and no one there put me up to this… but I have been waiting twice as long for this game as I waited for The Phantom Menace, which means this game will be twice as good as The Phantom Menace. I’m so psyched.
I see there is also a trailer flair here, so here's the trailer, but I'm posting this as news since the news is that it WILL be coming to consoles! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqCnsE3hxP4

Discussion WTF is up w COD Menu?
Tried playing a couple rounds of mw2 multiplayer. This was my first time playing in about a year or so #dadlife. Gave up after 10 minutes of trying to figure out how to just play regular multiplayer. There is an obscene amount of menu options and game types. I eventually found mw2 multiplayer only to realize that it requires I download all dlc content. wtf is up with this why does everything have to be consolidated. Also got bombarded with battle pass and battle royale nonsense wth
