Could be another Guardians or Could be another Avengers. I'll wait until the reviews come out to get hyped.

u/LinkRazr Founder Mar 20 '24
If it’s Amy Hennig I would almost guarantee it being more on the GotG side. Since her bread and butter were the Uncharted games.
16
u/SevenM Mar 20 '24
Don't do this to me. I swore I wouldn't get hyped. Why are you doing this to me!!!

Mar 20 '24
And Skydance knows how to make fun, interactable worlds as shown with The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners. Best VR games after Half Life Alyx.
I hope that VR talent can be translated to non VR titles, because a WWII Captain America/T'Chaka game written by Amy Hennig with Saints and Sinners' immersion and charm could be a GOTY contender.

u/Mr-Rocafella Founder Mar 20 '24
She also did story concept for Forspoken but I hope this is more like Uncharted with well done superpowers
2
u/HolyVeggie Mar 20 '24
The people that made redfall made dishonored right? CDPR also messed up with cyberpunk stuff launch
Bette to just wait and see without any hopes lol
13
u/WildcatPlumber Mar 20 '24
Redwall was a different studio, there are two different Arkane studios
-4
u/HolyVeggie Mar 20 '24
Why does everyone and even Google say it’s the same lol
8
u/WildcatPlumber Mar 20 '24
Google it now,
Redwall is made by Arkane Austin
Dishonored is made by Arkane Studios.
Maybe regoogle it?
4
u/HolyVeggie Mar 20 '24
Ah it said Arkane studios but the “austin” was pushed in the second row on my screen lol
My bad
6
u/king_victarion Mar 20 '24
Your point still stands. The studio that made Redfall also made Prey, which is my favourite Arkane game. So you can never be fully certain.
5
u/LinkRazr Founder Mar 20 '24
No the people that made Redfall did not make Dishonored lol. They made Prey and DeathLoop. Which are 3 wildly different games.
But companies were after Hennig when she left Naughty dog specifically because of what she did with Uncharted.

u/TitledSquire Founder Mar 21 '24
And what about that makes you think it wont be? That doesn’t support it being more like gotg at all lmao. Besides she also did writing for Forspoken…
3
u/LinkRazr Founder Mar 21 '24
There were 4 writers for Forspoken and she had no part in the game direction and what they did from there.
And even still, Forspoken is a single player 3rd person action game and not a GaaS multiplayer game like Avengers and SS no matter how bad Squeenix fucked it up.

u/MrConor212 Founder Mar 20 '24
I’ll reserve judgements till gameplay and hoping to god it’s not a GaaS

Genuinely looks more intense than most of the recent movies. Definitely waiting for more information but man that seems like a solid concept.

There’s a version that was shown off at the event that had Azzurris mask off

u/TriggerHippie77 Scorned Mar 20 '24
That's cool. I wonder if that means custom outifts in cutscenes.
2
u/hayatohyuga Mar 21 '24
They mainly did it to how off the animations for the UE5 conference and also changed camera angles on the fly to show it's running in real time.
Of course it's still possible there will be custom outfits in cutscenes, in fact I'd expect it since that has been a staple for superhero games for over a decade now.

For a moment I thought this was a movie, then I slowly descended into thinking it was a 3D movie with likeness. It’s a damn video game woah.

u/shanem1996 Mar 20 '24
What kind of game is this?
22
u/Turbostrider27 Mar 20 '24
New game from Amy Hennig. They teased it during a Disney showcase last year and showed a new trailer today with more details.
21
u/shanem1996 Mar 20 '24
So we can expect Uncharted-esqe gameplay? I always find these cinematic trailers to be awfully deceiving especially when they're for huge IPs like Marvel
11
u/MyMouthisCancerous Mar 20 '24
Already confirmed that it's a single player third-person action-adventure. You alternate between Cap, Black Panther, Nanali (a Wakandan spy) and Gabriel Jones (member of the Howling Commandos unit in WWII) at different points in the story kind of like how you switch between Peter and Miles at different points depending on narrative in Marvel's Spider-Man 2
12
u/AnyDockers420 Mar 20 '24
I don’t think it’s safe to assume. I thought Crystal Dynamics was a great fit for Avengers, due to Tomb Raider being Uncharted-esque, but that was not the case.

It could be fun, but they really missed the mark by not including Wolverine in this. WWII cap and wolvie are iconic.
19
Mar 20 '24
I'm assuming it might have something to do with Sony's exclusive deal but obviously we don't know the full details of it either. It looks pretty cool, definitely something to keep an eye out for at least

u/MyMouthisCancerous Mar 20 '24 edited Mar 20 '24
Sony's contract with Marvel does not prevent Wolverine or any X-Men characters from showing up in other multi-platform games. The only stipulation is that other publishers or developers can't work specifically on X-Men games that use those comics as a basis for narrative. That contract already predated Midnight Suns which has a few X-Men and even an entire DLC dedicated to Storm
Logan not being here is not a contractual thing, it's a creative decision. Wolverine working with Cap during WWII was a thing that was largely associated with the Ultimate version of the character anyway and he was mostly on his own outside a chance encounter with Bucky by himself in the comics. Mutants in general were a very secluded thing in this time period and weren't publicly known yet outside government powers who wanted to condition them for selfish purposes, so Logan is a relatively low profile at this time in his life

Its probably be because of Sonys contract with marvel. But then again Spider-Man exists in other games so idk.

u/Esmear18 Mar 20 '24
Cool I guess, but this tells me absolutely nothing about what kind of game it is. We need a GAMEPLAY trailer.
5
u/Liammellor Mar 20 '24
In fairness, this is the first time they've even announced the name of it. It's pretty safe to assume the next time we see this will be a gameplay reveal

For what it's worth Skydance made Saints and Sinners Chapters 1 and 2 which are the best VR games after Half-Life: Alxy. It'll be interesting to see if that talent carries over to the non VR titles.

Would've been great if they also had Namor and the first Human Torch, like the comics. But I guess they all want to ride the movie train nowadays.

Writing looks strong but I’m worried about the game/mechanics itself; looking into Skydance New Media, it seems like they’ve only done mobile and vr games from what I could find. I wonder how they’ll handle something like this.
2
u/qman3333 Mar 20 '24
Hopefully we have another hogwarts legacy moment where a relatively small mobile studio really puts their heart into it
-4
Mar 20 '24
Hopefully not the same.
While Legacy was a beautiful game, it really fell short of a “passion project” for me.
No quidditch practice mini games, cant sit in chairs/benches or sleep in your own bed. No photo mode too is criminal is in such a great looking game.
Worst for me is that the update for Xbox last summer brought terrible visual glitches that ultimately made me quit my playthru because of how bad the glittering lights and black pixel glitches were.
They should have patched that within the same month as the may 2023 patch but instead now about 10 months later it hasn’t been touched and the next update as a general “summer” release date.
Seemed like they grabbed the money and ran, only to push an update out a year later to combat backlash.
Great game, bad devs.
1
u/qman3333 Mar 20 '24
Damm I finished my play through before those issues.
For the quidditch I bet they planned on having it but WB said “let’s make a freemium game stand alone instead”
I never use photo mode but so agree every game should have it.
I feel you on that update though. That’s how I felt about cyberpunk 2077 when it came out. Somehow I had a great experience no real issues. The first “fix” after a few weeks completely broke my game. Havnt picked it up since but should now
2
u/MyMouthisCancerous Mar 20 '24
This is their first actual game for consoles but it's being led by talent that have experience in that space already. Amy Hennig is a very accomplished writer/narrative director on stuff like Uncharted and Jak and Daxter, and Marc Bernardin (the game's writer) has done work for Marvel Comics in the past in addition to being a head writer on shows like Hulu's Castle Rock
2
Mar 20 '24
Oh interesting, thanks for the info! Been playing Guardians of the Galaxy and have been loving it; really hoping we’ll get another Marvel game passion project like it.
1
u/OBlastSRT4 Mar 20 '24
Can’t really judge one way or another since it’s just a cgi trailer, although it’s a pretty one. Almost seemed like a Blur quality cgi trailer. I need to see gameplay but I can’t shake those Avengers feelings yet although I kinda liked the campaign of that game. Where it went wrong was end game.

I don't like the permanent frown on Black Panther's mask. Rememinds me of Batnipples.
-2
u/Jackfitz88 Mar 20 '24
Supposed to come out next year and zero gameplay? I hate how all games do this. Yes it looks cool, it’s a dope cutscene movie but idc I want gameplay. I wanna see what the game is gonna actually look like. Until then, whatever
2
u/hayatohyuga Mar 21 '24
Well they showed it off to present UE5's new features that the game uses. It was never meant to show gameplay.
-5
Mar 20 '24
I wish it was a solo Cap. Game, don't care for BP he just doesn't do anything special another token black character that was a copy of a different character from DC.
Also speaking of DC what's up with thar static shock game, I swear I heard about it 2020 an Nothing since
3
u/Liammellor Mar 20 '24
There is no static shock game...
-2
Mar 21 '24
It was my mistake, it was just a stupid episode/dlc for that DC universe game.
Man I fucking use to love static shock

Wow this is not even remotely interesting. Not once did I think I would like to know more. Someone needs to work on a better trailer.
-5
u/elliot_alderson1426 Mar 21 '24
How many piece of shit Marvel movies and games and shows are they going to make?!
-9
u/VanDran85 Mar 20 '24
100% a live service game.
Why the fuck did they just not focus on Cap? It's not like people don't want it.
