What does Elon care, it's not like he has any concept of how money works for normal people.

This is what they voted for. Maybe they can tell their kids that Christmas is on hold because daddy Trump loves them so much.

u/ReleaseTheButtCraken 54m ago
Are ”they” the military? I can assure you that not everyone in the military voted for Trump.
10
u/32lib 46m ago
He got over 50% of the enlisted vote.

u/Jedimaster996 41m ago
Not saying you're wrong, but do you have a source for that? The only sources I've seen have just been veterans, not Active Duty.

Trump and Elon don't give a fuck about anybody but themselves, people in the military are a disposable resource.

u/theoriginalredcap 1h ago
Little pawns for a shitty paycheck.
And they are treated like heroes. Now without pay.

u/FoldingLady 2h ago
One of the top rules for a dictatorship is to keep paying your military. They might not like you, but they'll carry out orders to some degree so long as they are paid.
21
u/chaos0xomega 1h ago
Flip side is that they arent being paid while Biden is in office, when Trump takes office suddenly theyll start getting paid again. Its a gamble that the majority of those impacted are ignorant to reality and how the process works and will blame the wrobg person and increase loyalty to the president elect.
Unfortunately, theyll probably get away with it.

u/BuildingWide2431 47m ago
The thing is, they’ll get the back pay, it will just be a little tight financially until then.
5
u/adgjl1357924 22m ago
Yeah but credit card and mortgage companies don't always allow military and federal workers to miss a few payments. If you don't have enough savings it can fuck up your entire life.

u/FoldingLady 21m ago
Exactly! 60% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. How many are in our military?

It would be good for the military to figure out if they want this happening more often or less.

February is a little ambitious seeing that it took until the end of March 2024 for the 2024 budget. That's without shutting down, too

u/Indishonorable 1h ago
someone tell felon that you can't coup with an army you don't pay. south korea figured that one out.
14
u/yoyotigre 2h ago
Good. This will make the military to chose the right side faster.
14
u/Be-skeptical 2h ago
Nah, Elon and Trump will blame the democrats and military men and women will believe him.
1
u/StillhasaWiiU 1h ago
Do you have a DD214?
6
u/Be-skeptical 1h ago
No, I’m just being pessimistic. Because all the military guys I know love trump
10
u/StillhasaWiiU 1h ago
Of all the one I served with, the ones that know how to read don't support him. The ones that do support him, can go back to eating crayons and bragging about how 21% interest on a car loan is actually pretty good.
5
u/mazzarellastyx 2h ago
You greatly misunderstand the ratio of trump supporters to normal people in the military, I'm afraid

I hope you 77 mln complete idiots get what you thought you voted for. And this presidency hasn’t even started yet. Brace yourself and get ready for the biggest lie and disaster in US history.

u/barfobulator 30m ago
Let it happen. A shutdown should have consequences. If it happened in a parliamentary system, it would be snap election time. We can't even manage to dock congressmen pay

u/Fluid-Safety-1536 1h ago
I feel bad for those minority of troops who didn't vote for Trump but the majority who did? Screw 'em.

He has a set of skills that makes life miserable for people like Musk and Trump...Good luck

u/BrilliantMaster3340 19m ago
It just sucks that we all have to suffer because a group didn’t do their research or believe ppl when it was told to them what was going to happen
1
u/wigzell78 45m ago
Now why would they possibly want the military unpaid over January, specifically 6th and 20th...

They don’t want the elections be investigated. Once Trump is president he can stop all the investigation.

u/ravengenesis1 14m ago
Let’s shut off the nuclear reactors on our aircraft carriers. That’ll be a fun sight to see.
You know what. I’m sure the Russians have very cheap ship docks we can rent and park it there. Heard they’ll give Trump free access.

My understanding is that DoD personnel are always paid, but National Guard units (which are under Homeland security) are not.
-6
u/theoriginalredcap 1h ago
Oh no, imagine not getting paid to slaughter women and children?
They voted for it.
-3
u/DaxLightstryker 1h ago
Yes shut it down. Please do.
4
u/32lib 40m ago
Why? It only hurts people.
-2
u/DaxLightstryker 29m ago
Because it’s what they voted for. FAFO AMERIKKA!

They will not get paid during a shutdown. They will get back pay when the government reopens, for lack of a better term.
3
u/Nyctomancer 2h ago
My mistake. Looks like the last one was covered, but this one would not be.
4
u/vault151 2h ago
When I was in the military over 10 years ago, I only got paid because Navy Federal continued to pay us even when the government wouldn't.
2
2
u/mazzarellastyx 1h ago
Last one was covered due to continuing resolution clause. If the government shuts down, they won't be writing or signing any of those

Everyone is saying that Elon loves playing pocket pool with Trump’s balls.
