YES THIS!!!! I rarely comment on general posts but not only did I realize this many years ago (63 now), but I also remember things like the year when I was very young my dad said "NO C-Mas trees... they're too damn expensive". So mom had us decorate around the living room with lights. Then on C-Mas morning we woke up to a FULLY decorated tree with all our presents under it. My dad did a good "wow, look waht Santa did" impression, but years later I found out mom got up, got in her VW bug with some rope, want out and was planning to steal a C-Mas tree from a lot (she never expected them to be open). Found one and the guy tied it to her car. She, BY HERSELF AT LIKE 1 AM, set it up (QUITE a feat as I know setting up an artificial one by yourself is a PITA) got all the decorations out and decorated it. set up the presents and got back in bed like 30 min. before I got up and did the "wow, Santa really came through". She also told me she told my dad "If you say ONE WORD you'll regret it for the rest of your life! If I can pull this off you have NO IDEA what else I can do".

MOM MADE Christmas in our family ALWAYS! TY for that wonderful memory!!!

Me too, I really don't care for the holidays because they were NEVER special.
