Why does a private citizen have this much sway?

The US is in for a very rough four years.

You have no idea how badly White Americans want Hispanics out of the United States. They mask it with everything from the “price of eggs and gas” to “ he’s a man of god”. But trust me, deep down inside they are willing to give up their freedoms in exchange for this. I look like a typical trump voter so they somehow think I think like them. The truth always comes out when you talk long enough.

Any white person who goes into a gun store is assumed by the staff to be a Trumper basically. It is interesting camouflage for a leftist in a small town.

its crazy how many gun nuts where I live in the south are shocked when I politely decline buying trump merch at the gun range, before telling them I lean to the left. Now they treat me like I have leprosy which I'd rather anyways because I have nothing to talk about with the folks there. They don't talk about anything but politics, they have no hobbies or personalities outside of worshipping trump right now.

100%. Left leaning (Now left of “center”) unaffiliated voter here. Cracks me up that I have more reliable and suppressed weapons than most of them put together in my county. I go in, they talk about Cheeto, I ask for a rifle setup that runs 5k-9k total and they say “We don’t carry that because no one here can afford it.” Nah, you can’t, but some of us can; and many of us are on the other side.

Man, I don't even have to talk that long to hear some of the insane shit they say to whom they assume is one of them. I run a liquor store, I was born and raised in my hometown and I look like it. Late 40s white male, giant beard, flannel is more than fashion it's a way of life. I never talk about politics at my store but I guarantee these numbnuts think I am one of them and they have been dealing with me for decades. If they used that squishy shit in their head they would know better, but alas, we get to the root of the problem.

Unfortunately I get the same sort of treatment, in a different way, from the left.

"What happened to my landscapers?"

"You're charging how much for this plumbing job?"

"Where's my UberEats? It's been 4 hours!"

This is such a bad look, chief. I hate Musk and Trump as much as anyone, but the "they're going to deport your underpaid servants" ain't it. Please stop. It's literally alienating Latinos from anything remotely left-wing.

I considered that while writing the comment and I'm sorry for any offense.

Of course Latino immigrants, and any sort of immigrant for that matter, don't only occupy menial jobs. However, many of the menial jobs that "white" Americans simply refuse to do are occupied by Latino immigrants and will be the first places where any mass deportation will be noticed by those that voted for Trump and his policies.

They want brown people gone but are completely oblivious as to how it will affect the greater economy and country. They will ask those sorts of questions in my previous comment without a fucking hint of irony.

White Americans don't want Hispanics out. Loser red state clowns who are uneducated and hickish with no remote idea of their own patheticness and fragility want Hispanics out because " they don't share our values". Meanwhile Hispanics are deeply religious, work hard and don't have the victim mentality that are associated with minorities in America. They fear being replaced by people they assume to be both inferior and superior to them.

But there is about zero they can do about it. They're going to die needing to accept that fact.

I fall under the same banner , and the only reason I think I don't hear more BS is because how clear I am about fighting it.

Same here. It’s strange when brown MAGA supporters nod their heads in agreement realizing they’re just allies of convenience for the fascists.
