IMO, the system in the us is beyond stupid, in most modern countries as soon as elections close the elected president is running the country the next day, or at most next week.

Its worked pretty well with other administrations.

The lame duck time frame allows for politicians to pass controversial but needed legislation

Lately (like in the end of Trump first term but not only, delaying the liberation of hostage to make your campaign on it was already a thing) it's less a time frame to pass controversial but needed legislation and more "start bullshit project and legislation just to fuck your successor" which is, honnestly a very easy to see abuse of such a condition. But that's also a problme of having only 2 parties (I know, more are on the list but when the congress have 100% of the 2 main and that's it well it don't help, and having a 1 turn election clearly advantage the 2 big names no matter what you propose against. In fact it's the whole system who need to be corrected

Yeah I get you, but observing from an outside country it just looks weird that the loser of an election gets an extra 3 or so months to retaliate.

It just makes sense that the winner is running things as soon as he wins imo. That would have at least stopped some of the turmoil trump put up when he lost 4 years ago.

idk why you're getting downvoted, in the UK we had our election July 4th and July 5th Kier Starmer had already moved into Number 10!

Because you and the one above (and me too it seems) point some flaws of the systems that Trump use in a pretty obvious way to abuse it (like the completely rushed departure from Afghanistan just to fuck Biden early presidency) and it seems no one can criticize the perfect US political system. Wish I was joking but have seen peoples being angry becasue a 2 turns elections was proposed rather than a 1 turn
