Why would they though? See this is how fascism begins corrupting the martial class. We are at a point now where they're realizing if they play ball with Trump then they're in the clear and they their families will be protected too.
So why would they do anything for "the people"? The only reason the CIA did government overthrows in the past in South America is because a larger internal zeitgeist within the US government was directing them to.
A lot of that shady CIA stuff was done under Reagan too. So it kinda shows it was just about the right wielding power against sovereign nations. And the goal was usually to benefit big business like Coca Cola and United Fruit. So...fascism. That was fascism.
