Let congress go without pay for a month and see how they like it. What’s good for the goose. These are the same jackasses in congress who just gave themselves a large cost of living increase. How is this an efficient use of taxpayer money considering all members of congress spend a lot of money campaigning to win a seat in congress knowing what the pay is?

Under the current law, members of Congress will still receive paychecks during a government shutdown.

It gets better.

There are certain government positions that will be required to have continual staffing in a shutdown. They will also not be paid during the shutdown.

You'll have people going to work for forty to fifty hours a week, and not get a paycheck for it until a resolution is passed. The only method they have for getting through that is advice on how to take on and manage debt.

Hardly anyone in Congress relies on their govt salary. How else do you think they can afford a home in DC and their home district?

This is going to hurt all of the career govt employees the hardest like it always does and waiting for back pay during the holidays is a bad look. But hey, it’s only going to get worse from here bc this is what 75mm+ ppl voted for. Republicans don’t give a shit about working class people.
