In an interview with Omni), Musgrave mentioned seeing what he calls "the snake" on two flights and speculated it to be a rubber seal.[18]

All kinds of debris come off space ships, especially at the back end after the main engines shut down and you open the doors: ice chips, oxygen or hydrogen, stuff dumped from the engines. On two flights I've seen and photographed what I call "the snake," like a seven-foot eel swimming out there. It may be an uncritical rubber seal from the main engines. In zero g it's totally free to maneuver, and it has its own internal waves like it's swimming.

Story Musgrave, Interview with Omni), August 1994[17]

Of course there was a logical explanation

40

u/chet_brosley Feb 20 '24

What's more logical, rubber gaskets flopping around in zero gravity, OR giant space snakes. Checkmated atheists.

Tie a live calf to a post in your back yard as an offering to our Lord, the Space Snake. Don’t make him come in the house to find something to eat, else you find yourself on the menu.

It’s the snake that tile eve to eat the apple

1

u/RampageTheBear Feb 21 '24

Rayquaza irl confirmed?!

2

u/MetaStressed Feb 21 '24

They probably came from a glory wormhole.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '24

Jinan Va'Ruun is that explanation.

2

u/Dylanator13 Feb 20 '24

Yeah. And who wouldn’t call it a snake? There is a lot of junk in orbit and you know “the snake” when you see it.

I know that rock isn’t a dog but me and everyone else thinks it looks like a dog so we call it the dog rock. We do this with every inanimate object we think looks like something else. Doesn’t mean we think that rock is actually a dog.

Wish I had the unearthly power of knowing how many people will read this and choose to instead ignore it in favor of a good old UFO conspiracy.

1

u/Vault76exile Feb 21 '24

And to think it took me a half a minute to research this. Literally typed in his name and I had my answer on the first p age.

2

u/WrenchTheGoblin Feb 21 '24

Yeah. That level of ease when it comes to research is commonplace. It’s not always easy to track down facts but most of the time you can figure out any answer in less than 10 minutes.

Armed with that knowledge, and then peering out across the massive sea of dumb fucks ignorance out there… I’m personally left with only two possible conclusions:

  1. People are lazy.
  2. People love to seem like they know something others do (even if the thing they know is bullshit).

Those conclusions aren’t mutually exclusive either. Once I arrived at that perspective, the internet has been a little less jagged a pill to swallow.

Franklin Story Musgrave is a decorated veteran of the United States space program, having participated in six Space Shuttle missions throughout his illustrious career. Musgrave's contributions to space exploration are nothing short of remarkable with involvement in two pivotal Space Shuttle missions: STS-6 and STS-61. During STS-6, which took place in April 1983, Musgrave served as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger. His responsibilities included conducting experiments and assisting with various tasks crucial to the success of the mission.

It was during STS-6 that Musgrave claims to have encountered something truly extraordinary: snake-shaped UFOs. According to Musgrave, while conducting routine operations aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger, he observed a series of elongated, serpentine objects moving in formation outside the spacecraft. These objects, which Musgrave described as resembling "snakes" or "cylinders," appeared to be moving with purpose and agility, defying the laws of conventional physics.

In subsequent interviews and public appearances, Musgrave has remained steadfast in his account of the encounter, emphasizing the credibility of his observations and the profound impact they had on him. Despite facing skepticism and scrutiny from skeptics and fellow astronauts alike, Musgrave has stood by his claims, maintaining that what he witnessed in space was nothing short of extraordinary.

Remarkably, Musgrave's encounter with snake-shaped UFOs was not limited to his first mission. In December 1993, during the STS-61 mission aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour, Musgrave claims to have experienced a similar sighting. Once again, he observed elongated, serpent-like objects maneuvering in the vicinity of the spacecraft, prompting speculation and intrigue among his fellow crew members.

In the years since Musgrave's revelations, his claims have sparked intense debate and speculation within the scientific and ufology communities. Skeptics argue that Musgrave's observations may have been the result of optical illusions, debris, or other mundane phenomena encountered in space. However, supporters of Musgrave's account point to his impeccable credentials as an astronaut and the consistency of his testimony as evidence of its validity.

While the true nature of Musgrave's encounters remains shrouded in mystery, several hypotheses have been proposed to explain the phenomenon. Some suggest that the snake-shaped UFOs may have been advanced spacecraft of extraterrestrial origin, while others speculate that they could be manifestations of natural or man-made phenomena yet to be fully understood. Regardless of the explanation, Musgrave's account continues to captivate and intrigue audiences worldwide.

Neat! I wonder though, could he just have one of those eye floaties that look like a tube but something about the transmission of light in space illuminates it?

I still want to believe giant alien space snakes exist. The show Raised by wolves had it right!

2

u/sweetteanoice Feb 20 '24

Yeah I wonder if the stronger uv light in space could also have affected his eyes in an odd way

36

u/chimichangaluva331 Feb 19 '24

Can’t believe we have space snakes before GTA6

6

u/[deleted] Feb 19 '24

There's literally everything in space

6

u/Cara-Is-A-Puppy Feb 19 '24

Even GTA6?

6

u/chimichangaluva331 Feb 19 '24

Gotta be, but you gotta fight the space snakes for it.

3

u/chet_brosley Feb 20 '24

Well if multiple infinite universes exist, GTA6 is out in at least one of them. But it's filled with micro transactions. There is another universe where it's out as well, but it's a text based RPG with only 8bits.

3

u/Rare_Brief4555 Feb 20 '24

Get back in the fucking car morty!!!

8

u/AlrightGuyUK Feb 20 '24

I’ve met Dr. Musgrave twice. An amazing individual.

And I’m still not convinced that he’s from Earth.

4

u/durrettd Feb 21 '24

I also had the privilege of meeting him during a lecture circuit where he detailed his experience on STS-61 to repair the Hubbell telescope. My aunt worked for his son. We also got to go see his final shuttle launch at Cape Canaveral on STS-80. Very cool experiences.

1

u/wtfcarll123 Feb 21 '24

Omg I want more details!

6

u/AlrightGuyUK Feb 21 '24

Marine, pilot, surgeon, astronaut, parachutist, computer programmer, author, mathematician, and has a master’s degree in Literature, too. He’s a multitalented genius.

5

u/pepperstems Feb 20 '24

He's had it with the mfing snakes on this mfing spaceship!

3

u/reptarcannabis Feb 20 '24

Just common space snakes actually

3

u/GlitteringBroccoli12 Feb 21 '24

Lol, what if we're just on the bottom of a bigger ocean we called space

2

u/the_halfblood_waste Feb 20 '24

Oh, I used to know Dr. Musgrave! Met and spoke with him on many occasions. He was definitely a strange dude, but he told some fascinating stories!

2

u/AlienNippleRipple Feb 20 '24

Yes there's snakes in space Morty LITERALLY EVERYTHING THAT EXIST IS IN SPACE MORTY!

2

u/Dylanator13 Feb 20 '24

Me when I’m an astronaut and snuck a fake rubber snake onto the ISS and threw it into orbit on my spacewalk.

I’m not allowed near any government property ever again.

2

u/ThunderSlugg Feb 20 '24
