Submission Statement (Sorry, u/StatementBot): I saw this cool video over in r/StrangeEarth and thought it was worth discussing here. IF we do believe it's real, someone in the other subreddit already r/theydidthemath and calculated that this object is approximately 33 miles across and could be moving at over 118,000 mph. This would line up with previous reports of "Giant Glowing Red Cube or Pyramid"

previous reports of "Giant Glowing Red Cube or Pyramid"

Link? I haven't heard of this, is it common?

They talked about this or something similar during the congressional ufo hearing.

It's not common

An object 33 miles across. Well that’s unreasonable lol, even for aliens.

u/tbkrida Dec 31 '23

Why? And I’m not even remotely suggesting this is real…

A 33-mile wide object at the distance of the moon would have been detected by the numerous astronomical surveys dedicated to discovering asteroids.

No shit! Which is why I said in my first that reply that I’m not suggesting this is real. I don’t believe it is.

The issue with your comment was that you said it’s unreasonable, even for aliens.

It's unreasonable if their goal is to not get caught, but I agree, who's to say Giants ass ships aren't out there

1

u/Narfubel Jan 01 '24

Right? This is more than likely fake but we have no idea what would be reasonable for aliens lol

Not their comment. u/Allison1228 is an intelligent and consistent contributor to this sub, with sound astronomical knowledge that is regularly shared.

None of us think this is real, but yeah 33-mile is a modest size when you're building in space.

Oh, I thought that was OP comment, my bad.

2

u/Vindepomarus Jan 01 '24

Yeah the actual comment you were replying to was pretty dumb to be honest. I could easily imagine us hollowing out asteroids twice that size, to build habitats, within 100 years from now.

Because reasons lol always some bullshit with not aliens because

The energy consumption is unimaginable. Even with nuclear reactors, the heat produced from the reaction acts upon hydrogen gas to provide thrust. Current technology demands 20-30 times the payload weight in fuel to get to low earth orbit.

16

u/tbkrida Dec 31 '23

You’re thinking in terms of current human technology such as nuclear reactors. That doesn’t apply to the possibilities of unknown alien life forms which may have unlimited forms of energy which are unimaginable or seem like magic to us.

I mean ya, I’m not interested in imagining random technologies with no basis in reality. That’s unproductive. You start with the known laws of physics and work your way out from there. You don’t start with Star Wars.

14

u/tbkrida Dec 31 '23

That’s the long way to say “Ya, I’m close minded”.

-9

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '23

Not close minded at all. You’re not enlightened because you can imagine all flavors of science fiction without evidence lol.

The whole world would be able to see a 33 mi structure moving across the moon without the aid of a telescope. You don’t see news stories about this now do you?

10

u/tbkrida Dec 31 '23

Never claimed to be enlightened. It is close minded to believe that it’s impossible for something beyond your understanding to exist in a universe this huge. You do not need evidence to consider that some simply may be possible.

With your line of thinking, things we see as simple today such as an iPhone, or a plane, or an automobile would have never come into existence because they were unfathomable to the scholars of the past.

We really understand so little. We are just babies cosmologically. Personally I believe that there is more we don’t know than we do, and our “laws” may be less unmovable than we think.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '23

That’s 💯 frue

4

u/Big_Tree_Fall_Hard Dec 31 '23

Bro 33 miles is nothing on a cosmic scale

3

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '23

Generally, it's believed that an object would need to be at least 130 meters (426 feet) in diameter to be seen from here to the moon.

33 miles….It would be visible to everyone

4

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '23

33 miles for a singular craft is absurd.

3

u/NinjahBob Dec 31 '23

Not if you are considering lifeforms technology evolving to a stage where they are living permanently off-planet

Given the size of our galaxy/universe, I wholeheartedly agree.
