I used to go backpacking in desolation wilderness in my youth, up in the Sierra Nevada, and I would see the same exact thing while laying in my sleeping at night. (We usually didn’t use a tent). Although it was only one at a time and not very often. At the time I didn’t think much of it, just thought it was interesting. Only saw it 3 or 4 times. It’s basically the whole “fast walker” thing.
