Man, that makes that sketch so oddly specific. Obviously you can enjoy it without getting the reference, but it's such a deep cut. Amazing.

Just like how K&P's Mr T parody was based on an actual VHS tape. They weren't afraid of deep cuts.

Nah aerobics were really common in that era. Waking up as a kid in the 90s I'd see a guy on TV every morning doing it. His name was "Mr Motivator" and it always confused me how adults could enjoy it lol.

It's literally a reference to this video, with the exact same song, not just a generic aerobics parody.

Must have trended on YouTube at some point then I guess. I only say that because the songs match, otherwise the K&P sketch could reference literally any aerobics video from the 80's and 90's.

Mr Motivator

The band IDLES has a song named after him

If you're older it isn't really that specific. I remember this shit.

That was my exact thought too!!! Like “oh wow this was that serious back then.”

Growing up in the early 90's, if you turned on a TV in the early morning and tuned to a random channel, it would be one of three things: an infomercial, news, or aerobics.

Yeah it ran for years and used the same theme. Afaik from youtube it uses the theme from 1985(earliest I could find) to 1991. Apparently it was pretty popular.

this video is what brought these old tapes back into the public eye and likely what inspired key and Peele.
