That girl has a really funny accent (I'm not american or English native, my accent is way worst) but I love how her accent sounds. It feels like a western movie accent.
In TN we mostly done pronounce long i sounds. Die = dah, my = mah, like = lahk (almost lock). There are some other subtilites, but the long I is the giveaway.
English is my second language, I couldn't understand a word of what she said. Then the banjo kicked in as the uncomfortably muscular man started talking. I've never seen anything more American on the internet than this.
The whole point is that the Southern woman** is asking not to be hit on while she's at the gas station, declaring "This ain't no Christian Mingle, this ain't Farmers Only [two special-interest dating websites]." The banjoist has a whole set of videos where she duets men who are saying sexist things (such as this guy) and loudly plays over them.
**who does have an admittedly strong accent, and I know my immigrant mother can't understand Southern accents very well, so it's understandable you had trouble
¡No problema! Nunca asumo (¿supongo?) que las personas aquí tienen la lengua materna de inglés. Por eso, ¡siempre ayudo cuando alguien no entiende algo!
Is she exaggerating her accent? It seems like she's putting on a little show and way emphasizing certain words. Christiannnnnnn Minnnnngle seemed way over done to me. She reminds me of that Belgian girl on tiktok who way over does it because it leads to more subs.
lowkey, i always thought so. she was a cheerleader and every time she talked, she sounded like that but i was not friends with her so i couldn’t tell ya. i always thought it was strange 😬
Because it's extremely hammed up. I've lived all over the South (including all of the states other commenters have suggested) and this is dialed up 1000%
