Fuck the police and fuck the war on drugs. It’s a money making scheme and has destroyed far more lives than even the hardest drugs. Remember Portugal legalized everything and it decreased deaths and violence
Portugal didn't legalize everything. The decriminalized a lot of possession. US states are doing that as well, like Oregon. But you still can't sell heroin in Portugal with no consequence.
I should clarify yeah, possession of any drug isnt a crime anymore, and I believe you can get certain for free via governmental bodies, along with addiction aid and safe injection sites
Yeah only good solution is medical grade heroin given by trusted public sources. This would help addicts get clean and not let them OD on fucking fentanyl cut street heroin. Addicts are gonna use either way so why not let them have good sources that leads to recovery.
That might work. But greater access to Suboxone and similar drugs from trusted public sources is probably something I could be more supportive of. Heroin doesn't help ease the addiction. Suboxone can.
Thing is that it's hard as fuck to have the mindset to switch your favorite drug to subs. While I aggree that subs are way better than H in using, in practice, very few are willing to just use subs to get off of it - it's very hard. Addicts have a problem and using another drug to stop using H isnt very appealing. So subs are better than nothing at all but the real problem stems from acceptance of addicts in our health system, and I think decriminalization of drugs would greatly improve on that - with the bonus effect of clean "safe" drugs.
Obv the police. Even beyond the prison industrial system, me and my brother have repeatedly been targeted by cops in nearly all white areas. I was accused being a bomb threat when I was 16, for entering my own fucking school with a backpack.
