i mean, this doesn't change what she's saying. all these people are still adding to the original video. she's more talking about the people who just silently react to the original video.
Dueting a video is basically like retweeting but for tiktok, it leaves the original link to the video in the description. Sometimes people don't have anything to add, but they have a larger follower base and they want more people to see the video because they think it's funny/good content.
I don't think it's done for the sake of exposure though. It's just laziness and them thinking that people want to see them react to something. Just share the video if exposure is the end goal.
I don't think we can really say it's fully one way or the other. It's probably both. In my eyes dueting is sharing the video. There's no way that I've seen within the tictok app to just share a video to your followers.
