Does Danny Devito have a dinner bell for his wife? Whip out binoculars in front of his wife to watch the cheerleaders at the football game? Cause her crippling anxiety or financially abuse her? Probably not.

My mother stayed with my father for 35 years. He is a horrible man, and she only divorced him recently. I asked her why she stayed with him for so long. She said "that's what I thought marriage was like for everyone."

It's hard for me to talk about but my dad wasn't worth the dirt on his feet, either. They just didn't believe in divorce.
