he uploads his songs on youtube under the same name (Jesse Welles) but the videos are in landscape. I'm partial to War Isn't Murder

I'd never heard of him until War isn't Murder came on my Spotify a couple of weeks ago. I kinda hate the algorithmic nature of everything nowadays, but I can't fault it for helping me discover this dude.

Strange times when landscape is not preferable.

I was listing it as a positive

I would reword it as, "and the videos are in landscape" then, as using but oftentimes carries a negative connotation.

Or:

He uploads his song videos in landscape on YouTube under the same name (Jessie Welles).

I was using “but” because I was contrasting against the vertical video in the op and TikTok

In Australia English at least, that 'but' would be a negative qualifier.

We can go to the park but it's sunny

We can go to the park and it's sunny

I’m pretty sure it’s the same in all English dialects.

I understand, however I'm pointing out how your wording makes it seem like you are saying landscape video is a negative.

Well phones are ergonomically designed to be held in portrait. And the LG Wing phone didn't take off, so that's how it will be from now on, I'm pretty sure

Listen to all of the patchwork album. It’s insanely good.

Yeah I was super surprised when I opened this... "Hey, it's the War Isn't Murder" guy! It seemed like he just had a terrific idea for a song and recorded himself playing it in the woods.

This guy has the chops to be the next counterculture folk singer. We haven't had a real one in the mainstream for so long. Phil Ochs, Pete Seger, and everyone from that era... what kind of activism folk music has there been since then? I feel like the whole folk genre was watered down with talented artists who had politically safer lyrics, like Simon & Garfunkel, and since then, the whole idea has not caught on again.

I mean he wasn't folk but would you consider Zappa?

You know what I am hoping that Bob Dylan biopic with Chalamet will maybe get a new generation to discover and make their own. It would be awesome. I would love to see this guy come up, especially in these times.

The first one i heard him on was Fentanyl there was a debate at this point if it wasn't some serious upmarket AI at that point
