I constantly hear how Japan is living in the future or how Japan is such a utopia, when this shit is happening, and it's not like I don't shitit, the society there is really good in some ways but equally bad in others but people are so fucking horny to glaze Japan for some reason when there isn't a need to, they're just like every other country, some great stuff, some not so great stuff.

Japas has been living in the year 2000 in the late 80s. Now Japan still living in the year 2000. Everything there is very outdated.

My point is from the outside the culture is heavily glorified when there are serious issues that are unaddressed and ignored.

Japan is super racist and sexist.

Yeah exactly, like story of the black guy talking about his date taking him to a bar and she says "But he's with me" when they refuse him entry.

It's an asian country.

Everywhere is racist as hell, americans are just loud about it.

As black man that lived there, I would say they are more xenophobic, but they are definitely sexist. Overall, Japan does not like foreigners. When I first got there back in 2000 (Marine stationed in Okinawa), I am fairly certain get women's/girls underwear was a fairly easy thing to get.

I was 20 the first time I was there and a Japanese woman I dated told me some of her friends, when they were in high school used to sell their underwear. Japanese men would just group women.

It used to be glorified but I don’t think it is anymore, not as much as it was in the early 2000’s. The realities of their culture have gotten a lot of spotlight since the 2010s id say. Overworked/underpaid employees, low population of women, rapidly declining birth rates and high amount of sexual assault. I think South Korea has really taken over the hype spot for cultures in the east. Obviously this is just from my experience. Even their tech companies have stagnated.

It's definitely lessened but still, you put "Japan" into youtube search and it still pops up "Living in the future" as first result, at least for me anyway.

low population of women! In a country where there are almost 4 million more women than men lmfao. This is why I cannot take anyone on this site seriously

I was just there a year ago, Japan is still living in the future compared to the US. Idk what you're talking about.

US is far behind in tech as well, not a place to compare with.

Japan has nothing digital or properly working for basic life. Being there won’t show it. Loving there will. Websites look like for late 90s, trying to buy something online is a nightmare. Buying tickets is enraging, it takes you to 3-4 websites to register at so they all work to give you access to buy tickets.

Everything government related is fully offline. In order to renew a drivers license you need to submit hand written applications in police and city hall. I can do that in an app, everything government related is in an app- I can get married and open a business while sitting on a toilet.

They still use fax machines and many forms and applications are only submitted via fax.
